- I guess it was only a matter of time. We all loved those super rare dutch e-bells, but with super old lights there, and on the original poles too, it really was a question of when, not if, this crossing was going to be upgraded with new equipment.
RIP. Fortunately, you've forever captured it on video for us to cherish for centuries!
I am dutch and I have two at home. Funny to see there were here once too.
RIP Dutch E-Bells 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Bro don't cry they are in the Netherlands also
Such a shame, But as you say i guess it was inevitable. I am not surprised they used LED train coming lights here, Somehow i don't think this small ped level crossing would suit road wig wag lights.
well thats a dissapointing to see these old dutch EBA bells begin removed.
i wonder if they kept in storage or they are trown away. maybe worth a ask on the railroad?
altougth i do wanna add some extra information
those EBA bells were made by the company NMA ''Nederlandsche Machinewerken Alkmaar''
NMA / Alkmaar have been making dutch safety equipment since the early 80's. they taken over the production that GRS-SSI together with philips alot of american signaling and safey for the netherlands. until GRS got brought out alkmaar took over the productions. the earlyest Production of the EBA bells were in 1991. with the prototype EBA 1-1's. and in late 1991 the production was made for the EBA 1-2's. around 1993 alkmaar renamed themselfs as NMA and made alot of EBA bells - gate mech's and signals. the one in your video i think from 2019 you showed a plate
since then i learned alot about the EBA bells so i could give you some information about 1 of them in your close up shot! (also check my channel of the EBA bells :) )
it showed: NMA / Nederlandsche machinefabriek Alkmaar BV. type: EBA (stands for Electronische Bel Alarmering / Electronic Bel alarm system) Serial number: 93 (build in 1993) 552 (the 552's made EBA bell)
i lucky own myself the exact same 1993 NMA EBA bell and theres alot of them around here. they are getting rare but luckly i own one of them for preservation!
altough my question still stands of how 2 NMA bells ended up in New Zealand! as fair as i know NMA didn't had any contracts or help in new zealand. did the railroad tested around 1993 with oversea's crossings bells? we probbly will never know?
hopefully this might help ya a bit intro some information alex! Nice video btw! keep the good work!
Greetings from The Netherlands : - )
Yes
Disappointing, I don't particularly like the ring rate on those WCH E-Bells
those are type 4 e-bells and that is the standard rate for these bells
I hate it!!!
@@SD60M incorrect, no matter what type they are, they have an adjustable ring rate and this type is no different. There are videos on these Type 4 E-Bells and they definitely can ring faster than that (some people like collecting level crossing bells, especially ones that come from manufacturing companies that cease to exist)
Kiwirail have been back to this crossing, the bells now ring slightly faster (not enough to eliminate the gap, but it's not as bad as it was) and the train coming lights now alternate, as on most crossings with them.
what if the dutch e-bells and wch e-bells go hand in hand?
They sound kinda odd at that speed, maybe to distinguish them from a road crossing. I've only heard the use of UK-style bells for pedestrian crossings and US-style ones for everything else.
It sounded like a Korean bell
Dammit they were some kind of Rare bells in the country.
and you thought the original slow ring rate of these E-bells was bad; this one is even worse!
Terrible isn't it...There is a couple of other level crossings updated in the last year or so also with this ring rate, SH2 Featherston is one example.
also, he mentioned that the equipment isn't entirely new so I wouldn't be surprised if it came from one of those pedestrian level crossings at Plimmerton that is being removed
@@erincummins2695 Not sure about the e-bells, But i reckon the lights have. I can confirm the old pedestrian equipment from Plimmerton has indeed been removed from there, On both sides.
Underrated opinion, but i actually like it when WCH E-Bells like those ring at that speed rate. Those previous Dutch Bells weren't bad either.
Agree
they got the US e-bells now lol
i actually have a WCH e bell, their speed and volume are adjustable
Dutch thanks for the OG bell
New Zealand No problem
That bell is actually not that rare here in the U.S. infact, 3 of 5 crossings have those bells
I assume you're referring to the new WCH bells? Those aren't rare at all, no. I don't think I would've said anything to the sort, as most NZ crossings have them. If I did say that, do please tell me where. As for the Dutch E-Bell, I've not seen any videos of them being used in America, but if they have been i'd love to see it.
Back to Dutch! E bells!
Wonder what happened to them
Replaced with two Western-Cullen Hayes Type 4 E-Bells
Sounds like the MetroRail in Los Angeles.
The first activation is shown at 0:55
That on top is a WCH e bell
Apparently they’ve been replaced again this week (or so I’m told by my 6 year old enthusiast)
they look like the bell and lights were in sync on 1 side
Dutch E-bell:NNNNNNNOOOOOOOO
Bell usa:HEHAHAHAHAHA
RIP Dutch e-bells
Mabey she is on heaven 😇
Why the remove these nice Vialis EBA to a horrible bell? The old bells is the BEST
I quite likes these bells :( but they where getting old
oh no dutch e-bell is gone
This is weird to see a WCH electronic bell in the Netherlands
This is in New Zealand, not the Netherlands.
0:26 Missed oppertunity to use the vine boom sfx instead 😢
i wanna sue whoever upgraded this crossing
It’s the railroad
It's New Zealand you don't sue people here unless it's copyright infringement
are they wch bell type 4
yes
@@SD60M The bell in Australia is not using :), you're a Ukrainian fan of trains and railroad crossing. Railway crossing has only e-bell, while the crossing. Found a Dutch mechanical bell in Australia ;). Don't you see the Australian railway crossing with Barker Technics E-bells, but originally it had a Dutch E-bells in Australia no longer :)
@@dominiknalezny7906 no i like the WCH e bells cause they can adjust the volume on the bells and that is why i love the WCH e bells
that was funny
New Zealand
NOOOOOOOOOO!
nah i liked the Dutch E-bells.
WCH Type 4 E-Bell
Thought the old ones were better

New bell is so horrible

Heck yes, although the GS sound even better imo.
แล้วไม้กั้นรถไฟเป็นไงบ้างผมไม่ใช่คนอังกฤษ
Nah I Hated The WCH E-Bells
Oh fu
Lol
ผมไม่ใช่คนอังกฤษผมเป็นคนไทย
It’s been over half a year. When is your next crossing video?
First of all, I work full-time and make RUclips videos as a HOBBY. I am not a professional RUclipsr. Secondly, there is only a relatively small number of Level Crossings in Wellington - I operate a philosophy of "film it once, as best as I can". I don't make lots of videos of the same thing (i.e. same lift, same crossing, same car wash, etc.) because that's repetitive and boring. Thirdly, I don't have an unload "schedule" - I make videos as when I can, if I feel like it. I have a life outside of RUclips, and this channel is not the be-all and end-all of my life. Finally, because I do this solely as a hobby, I make the content I want, when I want. My audience doesn't dictate what videos get made - I do! No offence to you my friend, but I do find a lot of people seem to have the expectation that they are "owed" content, or that they have a right to demand specific videos from me. I don't operate that way. I want my channel to continue to be a place to make my content, and not become a "chore" because I'm only making stuff people ask me to, even if it's not what I want to make.
@@the_alex_ellis_channel6923 I understand. And I wasn’t at all trying to be rude, it just felt like you had ended them altogether. But I understand
I Hate wch e bells
Me too
