I totally saw this video coming after the Twitter shenanigans regarding AhrefsI saw! Honestly mate, put your money where they appreciate you more as a customer, unfortunately one bad egg at a company can really bring a whole company down especially if they have the "high level" position at that company. No intended hate on Ahrefs, but it's not right how they've treated you and their other, obviously loyal customers. Nevertheless despite the drama, this is a wonderful SEO Tool video and really enjoyed this, though I feel a lot of newer bloggers may not understand fully how these tools can be used / what the tools really do. Think for any blogger with a little bit of experience this is absolutely fantastic and it helped me tremendously. I really liked your verdict at the end, giving us a conclusive answer, I hate it when the answer is "Maybe" or "it depends". Crackin' video mate
Thanks Theo - much appreciated. I was surprised at the result as I've been such a long time user of AHREFS. Annoyingly, I still love their platform - but from this test it seems Semrush more than competes so I'm happy to test them fully for a few months. Might do an update once I do. Thanks again mate.
A wonderful comparison between the tools and obviously never thought it was going to differ this much! But end of the day, you nailed it with your points and views and watched this whole video and enjoyed it! Thanks for such a video.
I appreciate your forensic and clear analysis of these 2 Keyword Research Tool Giants - Semresh vs Arhefs ! Definitely a vital tool to have in my new career in Digital Marketing 👍
100% - I still have an agency account for ahrefs but we will switch fully over to Semrush when that expires. My personal account is with Semrush and other than a couple of quirks its just as good and better in many instances as shown in the video. It’s the attitude towards their customer base that I really find appalling
Hi Jason. I am still relatively new to blogging. Do you recommend a plan other than these two for beginners.(2nd year ). Thinking of taking your course so I don’t want to commit to an additional $100-$150 on SEO. What are your thoughts? Thanks.👍🤗🇨🇦
Hey Joanne, it would be awesome to have you as part of Unfiltered. If working with one site, I personally think you could get a lot of the data you need at the planning stage - so the 7 day trial is perfect for this. I am also testing a few other tools that are much cheaper that give similar stripped back functionality if you need something on an ongoing basis. But the free trial and ability to export the data from Semrush would be a good enough starting point for most. Hope that helps and hope to see you in Unfiltered. If you are signing up, try and do it before Nov 1st so we can discuss this more on the small group call that we'll have in December. Thanks again.
One of the big things I didn't see from your vid is the SERP. I really like being able to work out the KD myself by measuring the top 10 in the SERP. I didn't find this on SEMrush. Thoughts?
You can see the top 10 SERPs for any keyword. When you click on the keyword (when analysing a domain's keywords) you get a top 10 serp analysis that shows all the sites. Personally, I think it's way nice to use than Ahrefs - although we still have an agency Ahrefs account (that was paid up for a year) so I still use this occasionally - but I'm finding myself preferring SEMRUSH more and more. The only thing I don't like about Semrush is the AS score. I find the DR metric to be more accurate to how I would assign a score, whereas the AS metric can sometimes appear very low - when I would expect it to be much higher. This may be due to them filtering out what they deem to be toxic links perhaps?
That's also what I was thinking. I was also wondering about the numbers. I don't know that having less is worse. Could be that SEMRush are just bloating those number. I mean, if you compare the data to Niel Patels thing I would never trust that over ahrefs@@TheAffiliateSchool
Great video! As an Ahrefs legacy user, I'm as annoyed as you are. Would love to continue using Ahrefs but will make the switch to Semrush and see if it fits my agency better, the intent and the local SEO makes it way more usable for me :)
Thanks Jennifer. Yes, I think it is really useful for agencies and local especially. Hope you get on well with it - I'm really enjoying it. If they offer you an onboarding call make sure you use it, as it was really helpful for me.
ahrefs is a rip off! What a rip off! I'm glad there is semrush as an option. The credit scheme they are runnnind at ahrefs is such a scammy slizzy aproach...every mouse click you execute is $ .30c - .50c . Absurd!
@@TheAffiliateSchool ahref don’t have an affiliate program. My point is, when you have an affiliate program to one of the 2 programs you are reviewing, Ofcourse the one the the link will win. In addition to that, in the most important comparison, you totally ignored super important features in ahrefs… for example the “movement” feature which is the best in the market

Thanks Lou, good luck in your new career and welcome to the rabbit hole 😃
Used Ahrefs for years then the credit system got introduced and i left it. I remember how furious people were and are in their member facebook group.

Totally agree - the pricing strategy is crazy!
Shocked by this result 😂😂😂
I was surprised it went so much in favour of Semrush
I hear/read that Semrush is more awkward to use. Is this significant?
It's only more awkward if you are used to another platform. It's easy to use, just takes some getting used to if coming from AHREFS.
@@TheAffiliateSchool Thanks!
Give me one winner from both option plz? I want to buy 1 year premium plan ? Plz guide us!
Did you watch the end? There’s a clear winner for me.
they both suckk they tell numbers out of their minds
So what’s the best alternative?
Ofcourse the one with the affiliate link will win....
I’ve been promoting ahrefs over Semrush for the two years this channel has existed. The one that came out top in the tests won
