Yeah I use a similar shuffle, but that's because my sleeves are too smooth and my decks tend to explode if I don't rough up the sleeves to improve friction, but also because I can interlace the two halves of my deck without bending the cards

If you do ever have an issue with the way your opponent shuffles, get a judge. We can mediate and make sure either your opponent takes more care with your cards, or in some cases shuffle on their behalf.
One of my first big multijudge events I ended up spending a lot of time shuffling for the 7 point highlander side event.
@@Aediits different when theyre shuffling their own cards than it is when they shuffled mine. Especially since there have been cases of someone damaging a sleeve or card while shuffling their opponents deck then calling a judge accusing them of stacking the freshly damaged card.

This is why I don’t play competitive. There is no way I would want anyone shuffling my deck the way you did.
I don't think the majority of people who play competitive do this, nor is this necessarily when you can simply cut the opponent's deck

You can shuffle the opponents deck as well. And if someone is concerned with damage then you can call a judge over to do it. Your opponent might get salty but it’s an official rule and even a suggested one at that.

This goes the same for any TCG but if my opponent touches my deck other than when I specifically allow them to cut or look at a card, I'm calling a judge regardless. I don't care if theyre trying to prevent me from cheating. I duel with horor just like Yugi Moto would expect of me.

@@allpissedup229 There is no requirement for your opponent to request the ability to read publicly available information. If they are just grabbing your face down deck, then that is not allowed. But, any card that is face up, or revealed FOR ANY REASON, is immediately within their right to pick up and read. Your response to that is, frankly, more along the lines of how a cheater would respond to inquiry. Yes, pleasantries are helpful, and make things go smoother, but there are no rules stating that you have the final say about them picking up your cards. Maybe play with some more reputable people if you think every person is out to steal your deck...
Its a good idea to give the deck a quick shuffle. It is a bad idea to give the deck a riffle shuffle.

Riffle shuffling, however, forfeits your right to breathe free air.
if it's possible for someone to cheat their way into having the perfect balance of lands and spells on a shuffle, wouldn't it be also posible that you make a shuffle for the perfect imbalance?, like set up the worst possible draws or mulligans for him while shuffling. if you wanted strict fairness you should both allow an impartial 3rd party to shuffle both deck (gently if possible so no one gets heated)
Oh for sure, he can even do the reverse of what he explained in the beginning: shuffle the deck until he sees an important opening piece on the bottom and just keep it there lol
Take 60 unsleeved lands and riffle shuffle them. Magic cards are tough, my dudes. Your deck isn't getting damaged if they're sleeved.

Everyone out here mad when their deck get riffle shuffled, and I'm like, please do so and then after the match teach me how. Mash shuffling sucks but I can't figure out how to do it with a huge 100 card commander deck.
Pile shuffling or just splitting your commander deck in half before another shuffle is perfectly acceptable.
If your play group thinks it isn't, find another play group cus that's just a massive red flag.

I actually had an idea like this once. Go to a legacy tournament with 60 basic lands, and rifle shuffle all the opponents decks. They'll all concede rather than have you destroy their cards, and you'll win

As long as you don't crease, it doesn't devalue the cards at least.
So I've always been very picky about how I shuffle cards because I want the cards well mixed and moved. Similar to how you're shuffling but I also random pinch cards out and put them on top or bottom (just squeezing, sliding up, thus pulling random cards out). Shuffling the bottom closer to the top thus getting the middle to the top and bottom. Repeat usually a lot of variations until I'm darn sure that if I had 12 lands in a chunk to begin with, there is a good statistical likelihood they have been well separated and then lost in the shuffle.
I was running D&D with people using the Hallow Deck of Many Things and let them shuffle. Got a whole lot of repeats and realized everyone I was playing magic with was either un or intentionally bad at shuffling

I just suffle their deck the way I shuffle my deck. Split it at roughly the half way point, take the bottom chunk amd sleeve shuffle it so the top card of the top chunk gets shuffled into the middle of the bottom chunk. Depending on how much i think theyre cheating, i do that three to eight times. After eight of those shuffles the entire deck is mathematical randomized enough.
If you wanna shuffle my deck go ahead and call a judge and he can do it for you, you can also fake shuffle an oponents deck so he only draws shit, only me and a judge touch mu deck, never an oponent
I thought the rules state once you shuffle your deck, it must be presented to your opponent for them to cut the deck.

apparently you can also cut your own deck after they cut your deck, but its been awhile and usually this hardly ever happens.
