Was a bit of a let down for me. Also got absolutely drenched walking over from Gosforth and back but it wasnt about the weather. Fireworks for me are better. They represent 'Celebration' so much more than a bunch of random graphics, lights and music which nobody has heard of. The display they put on a few years back at the Civic Centre with the 'Greatest Showman' music was excellent compared to this. Happy New Year to all.

I stayed at a Hilton Gateshead for nye was very disappointed with these lasers! Fireworks over the iconic bridge would have been spectacular for the whole city to see! We hope next year they make up for this.
Brilliant this is only the beginning Newcastle will in time take the plaudits stick together

We went to the 9pm show.. The lights were pretty good, but it could have done with a bit of rousing music. The show was 3/4 of the way through before I realised the music was being drowned out by the quayside bars.

My son went with his wife & 4 children.. He said never again..
They were absolutely drenched through, The kids were blue with the cold & freezing .. & said the laser show was rubbish.. Pink Floyd would of put on a better show..
He did say it was their choice to go, But never again...
First time we’ve been down to the quay side at New Year that was terrible, so disappointed, we had our meal first thank goodness 😢😂😊

The irony is, moaning about the lack of a few fireworks is possibly the most swowflakey thing I've heard in a while😂.
respectfully, it’s not just about the planet. it’s consideration for the pets and stuff for people living nearby, who get very upset from the noises and light :) but I agree this was incredibly disappointing. I wish there was some middle ground

Very true. People are criticising as if it's the end of the world. One good thing about these lasers...they can be used again and the show can be improved. If you have a rubbish firework display, there's absolutely nothing to show for it afterwards.

I guess it's a no win situation. Spend £££ on a cracking firework show, and they will get criticised for burning money.
I'm 'only' 50, and we never had huge forework displays when I was younger. Drunk strangers turning up at your door with lumps of coal was about as dramatic as it got😂
20 k for that, well it's an improvement from the crap fountains by the non swinging swing bridge from a couple of years ago

The thing is they are in a no win situation. Spend loads of money and they'll get accused of throwing it away.
I guess if I was in a council flat that needed work doing, I'd be annoyed at them spending any money that wasn't essential. Difficult balancing act to pull off.
