When people say piracy is a service issue, that's what they mean. If every time I pay 40 bucks for an offline single player game I need to have 3 different launchers in the background that all require me to make an account and remember the password for said account, I'm not really having a good time, and the next time I want an AAA game I'm just gonna go ask the internet for a copy.
What’s worse is that occasionally the alternate launcher can’t read the game license from the main launcher you bought it from……I’m looking at you Ubisoft. Some fucking deal you have with steam.
I'll always give Origin a pass because it was the first one to actually have a working refund policy. It was only _after_ Origin implemented it that Steam finally implemented theirs in a usable state. Before Origin, getting a refund on Steam was an awful process. Crazy how at one point EA was the most consumer friendly. Just goes to show how good competition is.
Steam refunds are once again getting worse, they used to not care about the 2 hours as long as reason was valid but now they got the most redditor type staff handling those, makes me never want to buy from steam honestly
I hate it when launchers do this bro. I have a gt 1030 i7 4790 with 8gbs and it’s so annoying to play a game at literally either 1080p 30fps or 720p at 45 fps
Agh it’s so annoying every time the EA launcher shits itself (which is often) and I can play whatever game until I restart the launcher. Plus it never actually closes unless you close every part in the task manager
It creates problem with AMD adrenaline it registers that EA app as the actual game, so when you launch ur game it doesn't apply all the amd features on it
The absolutely worst part about game launchers (including steam for this one) is that i for the love of god cannot keep the app from launching on startup. Like ive disabled every option related to that in-app and on windows and yet it still launches on startup
Luckily, there are great solutions to shitty additional launchers: 2K: launch game exe with "-run %command%" as an argument Epic: Use Legendary instead (or Rare if you need a GUI) EA/Origin: Use Anadius unpacker/emulator to bypass the launcher check (may or may not work for online titles) GFWL: use XLiveLess (or don't and get those achievements + gamerscore) Ubisoft: don't
Honestly the main thing I like about the ea launcher is it has my older games. Like command and Conquer red alert 2 and tiberium sun. And the only steam game I got that runs it In the background is mass effect legendary edition.
Never have I ever felt scammed after buying a game. Battlefield 2042 changed that for me. $80 on release just to play a buggy game with nothing going for it and the actually unusable EA launcher. The only game I regret having in my steam library.
I refuse to buy any game that requires a third party launcher. If they want my money, they can sell the game on steam and let me manage the game solely with steam.
Bro this is why I dont buy games from other major publishers from steam. I just go straight through the publisher because they’re going to run their shitty launcher in the background regardless.
I have not bought a single game from EA or Ubi on PC since they started requiring garbage like launchers and always being online. If I pay for a game and install it it should matter if my internet connection goes down or I am traveling somewhere with a laptop or even playing on a plane.
