I found my Pharaoh CD yesterday and I immediately popped it in my computer and was nervous that it didn't work - it works perfectly! This video reminded me of a custom map I did years ago and I was so proud of it. I worked on it for weeks! I'm super excited for the remake!
That's because earthquakes are not really a thing in Pharaoh. This single custom mission is simply using an unavailable event for some reason, probably a left over from Caesar 3 and the map was probably developed early on. The reason its a left over is, as mentioned, you cannot script your own earthquakes: if you want one, you have to use this custom map as your base (I'm not sure you can set a larger map without resetting the whole event list) and you can also only have one. IIRC, you can only change the event details, you cannot move the earthquake marker at all.
My childhood years past with this game, father and mother used to play it alot, It was hard for a 4-5 years old but I kept playing till I was 12 or something. Still have the original copy for both pharaoh and cleopatra. Omg what a grwat game and oh man the challenge is quite hard, 30k you gotta be kidding me

I know its too late but there is a ferry landing from the main land to the far south end of the other side. So you dont have to use the island to jump to the other side. Been following your walk thrus for a long time! Cant wait to see you again when the new Pharoah releases!
I'd personally love to see you play through all (except the holy grail map since it's literally impossible by default) the custom maps that are already included with the game. More Pharaoh from GamerZakh is always gonna be quality content.
1:18:40 _I don't know how to bring up just the tooltips for the temple complex_ On the top left, there is a "Help" section which details *everything,* including what each temple complex, their altar and their oracle do. You don't *need* to place a complex and hit the question mark.
Caesar IV did global labor. In fact I think Caesar IV is the most polished, balanced, and most fun to play, out of all the city builders. Second best is 'emperor: ROMK'. It makes sense. I didn't play Caesar V though but didn't have an urge to. I felt Caesar IV was a crowning jewel for the series (much like SimCity 4 with add-ons)
For some reason, after the Games Made in France event stream, I can barely so much as look at the original Pharaoh anymore... It feels and sounds so ancient (hahaha!) in comparison to the remake now.
@@draconariousthegamer1444 It's a spin on the North American Free Trade Agreement but instead of "American" it's "African". The creators of this challenge took the "free trade" literally so all imports/exports are basically free.
As someone who love this game I must say 1) kudos for playing it and thanks for the video but 2) that start was bad planed man (not really bad but could be more eficient), you just needed one big neighborhood (one street) and to conect the mines with a "back street" to one side of the houses. That said, if it works for you it works 👍.
Are there hotkeys you are using to see architect/fire views and to slow the game down? Are there any resources I should read to learn about any bugs and workarounds for things in the game? Love this video!
Yeah you can try all the letters for overlay hotkeys. F is for fire and D is for damage. C for crime, W for water. [ and ] control the game speed. As for bugs, they're hard to explain really. Sometimes pavilions spawn their walkers on nearby random roads, so dancers can glitch out and your houses lose coverage. Getting troops on a transport ship is a total pain, you gotta wait for every single soldier to come to a total stop and even then it sometimes doesn't work.
Gems/stone/flax (sometimes gold too!) etc... = A BUG when you import different things in the same storage yard. Use ONLY one s. yard for EVERY good imported ;-) Greets from Italy
@my name is my name They've said that the only part which is a remake is the new engine they have to make because there is no source code, otherwise it is just a remaster so the missions are the same ones you've played before, just with many of the obnoxious issues fixed, like the teleporting bazaar ladies, and poor event scripting on missions leading to soft-locks. There are also some QOL options available that can be toggled like global labour pool and a few other things. But there's no intention from the developer at the moment to add online play or any new campaign missions, at most just different custom maps would be provided. We'll see nearer to release what happens though :)

We don't know pricing yet as that has not been released but definitely wishlist/follow the game on Steam so you can get updates! :D

If so, that would be amazing! I'm so excited for the remake. Yeah global labour is like in Zeus and Emperor, working buildings can just always access the labour pool. It will be an option you can toggle in the remake.

Glad to see this. I was hoping you’d do some of the sandbox missions for stuff like this. I think playing on some lower difficulties and focusing more on realistic (so no entertainment or temple dumps) or themed (symmetrical or historical layout) city aesthetic. I think some great content to talk about while you record would be specifics about the historical backgrounds behind certain maps like who was Pharaoh at the time, where the historical capital was at the time, etc. Some of the levels are funny because it takes much longer to complete than the actual reign of the Pharaoh you are embodying or serving under. Do you plan to replay and record the remake? Do you know if anything will be added or fixed? Are there things you would change specifically? I never played Children of the Nile just Pharaoh and Cleopatra when I was a preteen twenty years ago. Which do you prefer (assuming you’ve played CotN)? Do you think the remake will have any effect on Builders of Egypt? Which are you anticipating more? Also has anyone ever told you that the way you talk is slightly reminiscent of Christoff Waltz, more cadence and intonation than accent?

I still own the original game CD, but i could never finish the whole game. When i was a kid i remember the first thing i built were wells...and attached everybody to the water source after that i went to the food source and some gold mine for a beginning... xD
The one with the shacks? Basically I have houses right around the roadblock so both sides of the roadblock get access to the houses for employment. The position of the roadblock means there are no intersections, so every time walkers spawn they cover things 100%.
@@ladoznalec That's right, the fewer intersections the better, and with roadblocks you can make sure there are zero intersections. With no intersections you can make your city 100% stable.

i don't generally enjoy livestreams, but i've always had good time in zakh's streams. it feels a lot more close and personal with him responding directly to you between recording sessions, and the other chat members are knowledgeable, fun, and respectful in my experience.

@@miaumi_24 Oh I just tended to put a random cluster of small houses because I'm not being specific. The earthquake is built into the game.

Yeah the remake will have an option for global workers like how it is in Zeus and Emperor.

There's the old widescreen mod and then Crudelios' Pharaoh Resizer app. The Resizer fixes some issues like that.

why do you place 4 road-bolcks in a row? Is 1 not enough? Or is it just to be sure?
It's to stop buildings touching that road from spawning the walker on that side. Also sometimes it glitches and spawns on the wrong side too.

Try use the Pharaoh Resizer made by crudelios. That's the best way to get it in widescreen and most flexible.

Yeah but I prefer eyeballing things because once a city gets going, instability can mean the current number is not going to be the final stable range.

Wait a minute! i did not know that! so even if you have only 2-3 houses next to a mine or workplace w/e it has access to workforce across the map?!?!?
That's right, it doesn't make sense but that's how it works. It's why in Zeus and Emperor they got rid of that and made it global access.

@@GamerZakh one more thing, how will global access work? I have no played the other 2 games. This means the workers are 1 pool across the map no matter where the house blocks are in relation to the workplace?
@@vasiliosmitropoulos5590 That's right, global labour means working buildings always have access to the population no matter where they are. Caesar 3 Augustus has modded in this as an option and the Pharaoh Remake plans to put it in too.

Changing tax rate to 0 makes people happier. Tax collectors, sometimes I forget but if I don't need them then I don't use them to save space.

i don't generally enjoy livestreams, but i've always had good time in zakh's streams. it feels a lot more close and personal with him responding directly to you between recording sessions, and the other chat members are knowledgeable, fun, and respectful in my experience.
