Beautiful chair, and great build video! I’m glad I took your suggestion to add that top back cradle to hold the back slats together over the seasons. Very modest of you to not even mention that it was your idea. You’ve got some great ideas. Cant wait until your next video!
Blast It Scott - Ryan. This a hard vote. Ryan and Scott built the same piece. Each chose their aesthetic. Each has their own style of presentation, both top notch. Why neither have the subscribers yet is a mystery. This contest is a smart way to jumpstart that issue. Now Scott, You've got me on several planes. 1. Maryland, I'm on the Eastern Shore, near OC. 2. Purple Heart and Ebony. 3. I like corny. 4. Total Boat epoxy to fix blasted expensive wood with defects. Now Ryan, I make cutting boards so 1. I Love contrasting glue ups. 2. I have bandsaw envy. You make that look so easy, especially re-sawing. 3. All the prep work and predrilling parts make you ready for a production run! It is a "How To Make Money" title after all 4. Wheels, handmade, bonus points. This is not easy. I am posting this exact comment with Ryan and James. I think it's a tie, however that most likely will not count as a vote. Frankly, FREE always gets my vote. Drum Roll please. #1 Ryan - congrats #2 Scott - truly sorry Dean Williams - Winner Wanna Be
Thank you for your thoughtful comments and support. That’s means allot to me that you spent the time to point out your favorite parts of the build. Take care!
Really incredible and artistic design. I vote for this to be first place for the Kings Fine Woodworking Adirondack Chair Build-off. I just love the community around Mr. King and his family. Sharing knowledge, ideas, etc. is rare these days and is refreshing to see.
First place, RPG Woodworking took top place because of the feeling of pride he had in his chair. As for craftmanship and design both chairs were a photo finish.
Second. Yours is very beautiful and your craftsmanship is top notch. I just appreciate the originality in the use of the Purple Heart. Keep the videos coming, I learn a lot.
I love that you went the extra mile with a contrasting laminate. I’m a sucker for contrasts. This chair takes first place for me. Well done. An absolutely stunning chair.
I vote this chair as number one. I have made laminated furniture. Mahogany and Maple. Walnut, Cherry, Cocobolo and Padauk on one project. I liked the Purple Heart, but not so much on a chair.
I love the contrasting laminate, I love that you kept the contrast theme even on the armrest. This chair takes first place for me. Definitely a chair I would love to have on my porch.
1st place. I love the use of screws instead of bolts. One thing I noticed was in the other video he drilled his holes for the bolts he had blowout. I know it is not seen but when you are using woods like oak that looks really good go that extra step and use a backer piece when drilling so you don’t get the blowout.
