I lived in Milwaukee for 30 years, then the last 20 years in Hermosa Beach California. I just was in Milwaukee for the first time in 5 years. I have to say Milwaukee is getting pretty sophisticated. I am astonished at the amount of fairly pricey condos. Milwaukee seems to be shedding it's blue collar identity and seemingly morphing into most urban arees in the country. Two classes, well off and poor. Sadly, just like the entire country, the middle class is getting squeezed into non existence. The middle class is what made the US unique in the world.
Very good comment and observation! The middle class is what has always carried this country and the more they are getting squeezed we are creating social tensions; I find that concerning! Milwaukee has changed a lot in the last 10 years, the rust belt days are gone, the image is still here - I work with a lot of doctors who come here for a job and when we drive around they are always surprised. Milwaukee does have economically challenged areas like every metro area in the US - we have a lot of initiatives that aim to help people stand on their own feet and grow from there, hopefully we will see even more of that in the future!
Milwaukee is still way cheaper than Arizona as far as living situations. You could never find luxury apartments lower than $1500 for a one bedroom and in some cities a studio and the pay ain't much better unless you have a tech job
Great drone shots of downtown! I live downtown and love it. One of the few downtown areas left in the country where pricing isn't exorbitant and you're not constantly stuck in traffic.
Awesome! You are right, definitely lower than many other cities and the low traffic just blows my mind. Most shots are from weekdays, mid morning and it looks like Xmas day traffic!
Hi Jorge, thanks for watching! Feel free to download our Milwaukee Relocation Guide from our website onpointrg.com - it will answer many questions. But the best thing you can do is book a flight and spend a weekend here and see what you think for yourself. Any questions - you know where to find me!
I agree, downtown is often beautiful and amazing. However, as you get further away from the city, there'll be more crime. Such as speeding and reckless driving. The number of people killed perhaps number in the hundreds. But, don't let that scare you from the beautiful sceneries and buildings of Milwaukee. Explore. Milwaukee is beautiful.
I'm currently apartment shopping right now. I preferably want to live DT for that lifestyle, but it is pricey. If I'm making $60K (before taxes) a year, do you think I should be able to afford to live DT Milwaukee? Or how much do you think I should be looking to pay monthly with that pay? I know you probably need more info for a more accurate estimate, but I just want to get a general idea of what I should be paying. It'll be my first time moving out & living on my own, so I'm just a bit worried that I might struggle. I also deliver for Amazon Flex as a side job about 10-15 hours per week, & average about $280 per week doing it.
Hi Lazzi! Classic advice is that you should not spend more than 1/3 on rent. That's about $1300 and that's a decent budget for DT. But I would try to spend less, because rent is just gone. You probably don't need a big space, which will help. If I were in your shoes I would house hack with a duplex. You can rent out the other side and if you really want to push it have a room mate in your unit. With a room mate you can get pretty close to zero in housing expense, but that's not for everyone. Financially it's a no brainer, as you are building wealth every month. You can find a few videos about house hacking on my channel! Hope that helps!
@@MarcusMKE Thank you very much for your reply! $1300 was about my budget, but was trying to aim for lower, like $1k to $1.2k just in case, it's been very difficult for me to find something in that price range though. I've also thought about getting a roommate, but I really want to live by myself for now to be truly independent. Buying a duplex has also been on my mind as well. Thank you for the advice!
Yes freeways are usually not really adding visual value. But they also make your daily commute much easier. There are some ideas to remove the freeways downtown and replace it with a central park. Like Boston's Big Dig.
Bradford Beach rents are not cheap and I would budget 900 to 1200, but if you go a little further, maybe west of Holton, you can probably get a place for around 700.

All my videos are about different neighborhoods of Milwaukee. The idea of showing individual properties is of course tempting, but which one would be a good representation? A condo for 2.6 million in the university tower or one for 200k on Wisconsin Ave? A lot of people also don't want to have their apartment on RUclips... Best I can do is email you a list of everything that is available. What's your budget?
