magicorthodoxy Well...it does affect my perception at the deck. Since markings on a deck for me are like a 'bonus'. So I'd be more keen to purchase it. However, I would also take into consideration how noticeable the markings are.
Marked cards are a great tool but I don't really like the secrecy everyone puts around them. Never being able to explain anything or talk about it doesn't make any sense to me. If your deck has a great feature and you want people to buy it, a you can at least tell them about that feature. This is why I have not bought a marked deck yet and probably will not because if I buy something I want to know what I'm getting.
magicorthodoxy I avoid marked decks for the most part (although, I will purchase one if the art is addictably awesome). Thankfully most marked decks are built with performance in mind, and include traditional or only slightly modified card faces.
I am not actually a magician, i know about this deck for some time, and i have a special skill. I can pronounce name Ondřej Pšenička properly :D. "Ondrei" is close enough, considering that most languages dont have equivalent for "ř". Second name pronounces Pshenichka, like P š like "sh" in word "she" and č like "ch" in "check". Now sorry that we, people from former Czechoslovakia are causing sooo much grief in USA and UK :) After i seen this beatiful deck I might obtain one to re-learn some tricks i did long ago.
Tomáš Hlaváč thats not true, although you can find any number of missing cards in the deck you dont need even near a year of practice, you can learn and use it in much less time then a year
I was wondering why I haven't commented this video already, but when I looked at the video date, it became obvious. it's because May was when I was only slowly resuming my interest in magic & cards, so I was not closely following your videos yet. As you may know from my comment on your other video, I really like the back design of Ondrej's Butterfly Playing Cards, and the ace of spades here is simply gorgeous!
Hey David, I've got number 001/500 of the devastation collectors edition deck from last year and I'd be willing to make a video for you telling the short story behind how I got it.
I can see the marking system easily enough in the video, but I suspect the back design is busy enough no one would notice it while any tricks were being performed unless they knew what they were looking for. Beautiful deck though, I may have to purchase one.
David, what do you think of the durability of the deck? In your opinion, how long do they last for you in comparison to Bikes? I think you should add in 1 week and 2 week review updates (ie, how has the deck held up given your handling). Are the edges smooth? And do they come with the ebook? Also, they're currently not available for purchase, do you know if they'll be available later on?
Stuff like that is impossible to gauge since we all treat and handle our cards differently. That's like asking, how long dinner lasts (ha ha) we all eat at different paces. I say in the video that the edges are smooth - if you want to know where they are sold, I'd do a google search or ask the creator. THANKS !
I was asking more with regards to your own personal repetoire. I think you should add your opinion in more, cuz you clearly understand how to treat a deck of cards. Then again, some people handle like Lennart Green, so really your point is still valid. Thanks for the review, and I hope to get some soon
Yea, I do add my own opinion when I think it's relevant, but if I am going to be a good reviewer, I should present the facts and let the people decide what they like. At the end of the day, it's all paper in paper boxes. And between 95% of the cards out there, you're only talking about the differences between 2 card manufactures - maybe 3, so the truth is... most decks are as durable and as long lasting as the next
I love the look of the deck and you're right real slick out of the box. Maybe it's because I'm a newbie but do you find because of the coating, and maybe along with the thickness, that they are harder to faro shuffle than other decks?
This deck is spectacular! I do enjoy marked cards, but it doesn't really affect my purchasing choices much. To your knowledge, is this the first deck that uses this type of marking system? Great review as always!
I think it would be cool for you to do some trick performances bro maybe your favorite tricks or tricks from new books/dvds maybe spice it up so there's a lot of different magic content on the channel as apposed to just reviews.
Yea, but this IS a review channel. That's kind of like asking a cooking show to film the chef eating. :D There are LOTS of magic performers on youtube. I don't want to be one of the crowd.
I have used these every day for a while now, you can truly make miracles happen that are just not possible with any other deck. I'd highly recommend trying to learn it! it pays off! I would definitely be down to help :)
When I scramble shuffle the cards and reassemble into a stack, the markings don't align well. Is this just on my deck or is it common to the entire print run? (Blue version 2 deck)
Hmm.. how to explain without getting into too much detail. The two-way markings align well when the deck is set up one-way. But when the deck is scrambled the two-way markings from the "right side up" cards do not align well with the two-way markings from the "upside down" cards. Reading across a row is hard as the dashes do not line up. Is that slightly clearer?
That’s a feature, not a bug. That’s how Ondrej fooled P&T the first time, and why Telled turned the cards after the cut before he shuffled the second time.
This system of marking is way to complicated and should be simplified. The instruction card is poorly written with not enough detail to explain clearly how and what the system is. I would avoid this product again because of it's complications and lack of simplicity.
it is a very complicated mark - these are not easy readers - but rather a hidden system that takes a lot of practice. But I learned it on a plane ride, so it's not impossible. But once you learn it - it needs to be your every day deck - or you'll forget it
Hello! I do admire your passion and enthusiasm towards card magic. Nonetheless, please do not foment performing card tricks and illusions with marked and gimmicked cards. That is unfair and dirty. Moreover, it does demean real magicians who spend years learning how to execute card mircales and wonders with clean decks. In my view, this Czech magician encourages young magicians to be lazy and robotic. He does discourage them from studying sleight-of-hand moves, magic theory, mathematical principles, and psichology. Besides, is he too naive to think that his marking system can't be detected by laymen?? Come on! When they see such an intricate and flashy deck they know something is fishy. Imagining yourself performing: What would you do if spectators told you to execute the same tricks again by using somebody else's deck?? Mr Psenicka should respect magicians and he should not underestimate spectators.
Marked cards have always been a part of magic, just like gaff cards, fake swords, collapsible canes, balsa wood tables and magic wands. This is a career and hobby of liars, charlatans, and thieves. All of magic is "unfair and dirty" and nobody is a "real magician" right?
@@magicorthodoxy "This a career of thieves, charlatans, and liars" Are you serious? Was René Lavand a thief? Was Vernon a charlatan? Was LePaul a liar? They were artists. just lost 7 minutes of my life and still dont know how he did it
marked cards... you can find missing card by reviewing the rest of the deck in 20-30 sec (after years of practice)

saw the two marking systems. the one is definitely a lot easier to spot than the other.
Why are the grapes a different pattern everytime is this a misprint?

I like this deck... It is very beautiful

what's with the dice roll?
