The Real Ghostbusters is, in my opinion, the best, most impressive children's cartoon of all time. The art, animation, characters, writing, music, voice work and sound direction, atmosphere, plot, designs, monsters and antagonists, they are all top notch, and topped off with brilliant imagination and diversity and you have the best cartoon to date.
The series was also very popular in other countries, including the United Kingdom, where typically it was shown at 4:20 p.m. on Monday afternoons as part of Children's ITV, generally rotating runs with and gradually taking over from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe which had ceased production the previous year and was slowly starting to dip in popularity around that time. As with many imported programmes of the era, the U.K. did not show the episodes in the original broadcast or production order, and were very often edited for time. The first two seasons were shown and repeated in the above mentioned slot; later episodes turned up as part of Saturday morning children's show Ghost Train (ITV), later Motormouth, where the episodes were typically split into two halves over the course of the programme. Although being from the Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters era of the show, only the Ghostbusters half of the package was shown (despite the title, and reflection of the change in the credits sequence). These showings were generally (but not always) less heavily edited, but seldom included the full opening and closing credits; the picture was also often squashed up to feature messages and other information relating the to Ghost Train / Motormouth strand. In the early-mid 1990s, later episodes still, as well as repeats of earlier ones, appeared in a daily 9:25 a.m. weekday slot during school holidays (again taking over from a position previously held by He-Man and the Masters of the Universe). The last time the series was shown on British terrestrial television was back in the afternoons as part of Children's ITV in 1999 (days and times varied), with more repeats of episodes from the first two seasons. These episodes in particular were very heavily edited for time. The episodes were alternated with a first screening of the revamped version of the series, Extreme Ghostbusters (see below). The rights for ITV to show the series expired that year.
Throughout my childhood, I somehow managed to miss this entirely. That may have something to do with the fact that I didn't grow up in america (or England for that matter. I don't know where they sent this). But now that I have found it, I may or may not actually sit down and watch a season or two...
For the LOVE of god, can we PLEASE get a reboot of this series? And when i say reboot, i just mean start it back up like nothing changed, and keep going with it.. could use cell shading CG that matches the original art and style. I just really miss this show.
There is NOTHING that beats the cartoons I grew up in the 80's. Everything from Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Thundercats.... the list goes on and on. And I loved the opening sequence. .. From seeing the s hot of the ghosts feet as it pans up and I jumps into frame, to Egon, Winston Ray, And Peter. sliding down the fire pole as Slimer gives Janine a kiss then jumps onto Ecto 1 as it Flies out of the firehouse. ..with the sirens blaring. ..to the ghost looking down at the gang as they fire up their proton packs and blast those ghost... all this with Ray Parkers "Ghostbusters" theme playing. STILL one of my favorite cartoons 30+years later.
They sure don't make kids shows like this anymore. Saying something like this really makes me feel old, Its like I'm repeating what my grandparents and parents used to say about the things I enjoyed as a child and it's scary.
Well, it's cool that you uploaded one of the outro of this series, but the most oftenly broadcasted one I can not still find. It was very creepy and disturbing: Images of the creatures of the most horrible and disgusting appearance were slowly passing on the screen. There weren't any music, just their moaning, cries or another inhuman sounds. The background was a colour fill, which was changing while this outro was shown on the screen.
+GESSO217 personally, after catching up on a couple dozen episodes, I thought Music did a better job on Murray's character, Coulier's version was more loud mouth and rambunctious. But thats just my own opinion
Love how they are doing the "Ghostbusters dance" from the Ray Parker, Jr. video, even though Columbia Pictures has done everything in their power to make that video cease to exist (because of the Huey Lewis lawsuit). Just by having the Real Ghostbusters do that dance (which appears NOWHERE except the Ray Parker, Jr. video) they were sticking a finger into the eye of the suits at Columbia and Sony Pictures. Sweet that the bosses weren't savvy enough to notice!
Same thing with Egon being such a beanpole (not to mention having blonde hair)...it was like they just said "well, we've got 4 guys, 3 are white, 1 is black, and one of the white guys wears glasses" and let them make the character models from the ground up.

And cool toys
its a very wholesome show too
This and Duck Tales had so much depth even cinematic scores
Along with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Man, this is much better than the reboot
That's why they're called the REAL Ghostbusters.
And REAL sequel is here finally!
Oh my God. I haven't seen that "DiC" bumper since I was a kid.
DICK!
Its quite something when even the ghosts in this cartoon look better then the 2016 film...

RIP Egon.
Heh, never missed an episode of this as a kid.
One of my favorite shows on saturday mornings
childhood memories refreshed
They sure don't make kids shows like this anymore.
Saying something like this really makes me feel old, Its like I'm repeating what my grandparents and parents used to say about the things I enjoyed as a child and it's scary.
I don't know what they were thinking with the new one... going to be a big waste of everyone's time unless it surprises us all which i doubt.
+FireBomberBassist "going to be a big waste of everyone's time unless it surprises us"? So, in other words, it's going to be bad, unless it's good?
Ramin Farahani Yes, and if it's good it's a surprise I never saw coming. Expecting it to blow.
+Jenn1382 Hope is not required here.
Maybe it's because you're too old for kids shows in the first place???
I think we have to give this title to the original films now just to make people know what Real Ghostbusters really is
Oh the irony of the title is amazing now.
I found out about this by Ghostbusters 2 and i've been watching alot of the cartoons I really love it.
Wow, this has everything I remember. Including the famous "DiC" logo.
Damn I'm old
that classic ending where the kid said 'DIC' was always hysterical 😁
I so LOVE this cartoon! Getting flashbacks to my childhood. RIP Egon. You were always my fave.
Damn! I miss this show!! Somebody bring it back! NOW!!!
Awesome!
The coolest bit was when the main instrumental kicked in while they they were shooting the ghosts with their proton guns!
I remember as a Kid me & my mate David were dancing to the Ray Parker Jr version at a Disco we did the pointing & falling in the slime bit hahaha
favorite cartoon show of all time!!!!
They are indeed The Real Ghostbusters.
Never thought you could make a cadillac hearse look like it can kick your ass.
better then the new ghostbusters.
I was never so happy!!!
this is awesome i can see an anime style of this
This cartoon in some episodes, intro and ending was animated in Japan by Tokyo Movie Shinsha "TMS "
My childhood heroes :D

+Sergey Loginov wasn't that the outro to Extreme Ghostbusters? that was a later revival of the series with a new team led by Egon
How is it that I miss the eighties and I wasn't even born until 1997?
I still do the end credits dance.
I tear everytime I hear the ecto 1
I like this version of the song better than the official version.
Good times
End Incomplete... sorry!
Dat proton pack sound
They don't make them like that anymore.
I come for Stranger Things, nice memories ;)
:31 LOL Slimer's funny
1:07 for ABSOLUTE MADMAN
When/ why did Dave Coulier resume the voice Peter Venkman? Lorenzo Music didnt die til 2001
There's a story going around that Murray had asked why Peter didn't sound like him, so music was out and Coulier was in.
+GESSO217 personally, after catching up on a couple dozen episodes, I thought Music did a better job on Murray's character, Coulier's version was more loud mouth and rambunctious. But thats just my own opinion

I don't remember Ray being that fat in the original movie. Maybe the animators were thinking of John Belushi instead of Dan Akroyd(SP?)

I think it's easier for the kids watching it to differentiate between the characters and also to make them more "toyetic".
Licensing issues. At times securing a license to an IP does not encompass it's entirety. Legal shit.
the intro looked anime...-ish...
but p0st not😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
