    I don't think one is better than the other. ETS2 is European trucking, with totally different vehicles and trailers. Towns and cities are closer, and the roads are more varied. ATS is larger trucks, long highways and fewer garage locations. I own both, play both, and on one day I love ATS, and the next I want ETS2

    Your International can only hit 91 MPH, try a Cascadia with DD16 600Hp and the DT12OA, you can hit 100 MPH+ with that truck.
    By the way, these 2 games are essentially a same game, using a shared graphics and physics engine, the differences are the maps and trucks, which are modeled very realistic. So the real differences between these 2 games does not lie on the games themselves, but on the differences of Europe and American driving and economic environments, laws and regulations, truck manufacturers and the actual truck models that are being offered in each continent (and their characteristics of course).
    In conclusion, apart from the fact that ETS 2 has a bigger map and larger selection of trucks since it has been around longer than ATS, the reason to prefer one game over another comes down to just personal preference of either America or Europe as geographical continents.

    They are two great games. But I like the ATS more for its great variety of biome. In ETS2, I find everything very "similar". It could be because the biome is more mountainous most of the time. In ATS, we have a wide variety of biomes. I just think it's time for CSC to put dynamic weather in addition to rain, but also with snow in a certain part of the country.

    Both games run off the same game engine. The devs did this so optimizing it on one game could be easily applied to the other. The texture of the roads is different because most roads in Europe are asphalt while roads in the American west especally in places that are hot are made from concrete. This will change after they introduce more midwestern and eastern states in the future as American roads east of the Mississippi are made from asphalt due to the use of salt during winter months. Concrete wouldn't last long if exposed to it.

      I’m sure they would love to add them, but as is, they have enough work to do with just the western parts of US. They release maybe 1-2 states each year. Just US alone is going to take them many years, even if they speed up their production. I’m guessing coast-to coast deliveries are what most players are looking for, but if ATS lasts long enough, i’m sure both Canada and Mexico are interesting additions.
      They really don’t have a lot of Europe remaining (Balkans, Northern Europe, maybe Belarus and Ukraina on match the upcoming Heart of Russia DLC) so even with current resources they are probably going to be able to transfer workers from ETS maps to ATS.

    I think ATS has greater potential. I've started to become more interested into USA lately and dusted off this game and fell in love with that charm of their roads and scenery. The speed limits are way higher than in Europe (except for California). Most people on road don't drive with the limit, so driving is more dynamic. You don't have toll booths, but weight stations that can often be bypassed. Road signs are more intuitive. The only downside is that there are no cabovers that you can drive.
    If they cover the east coast someday I believe the map will reach ETS2's map (that is if they won't expand into middle east and Asia) in terms size and even beat it.

    I prefer ETS2. I find ATS more difficult to adapt. The longer trucks and trailers were a big challenge for me when i play it.
    It was interesting but take me longer make progress on the game since i find the journeys more longer even with a average top speed more higher (105 vs 90 from ETS2).
    The map on ETS2 is WAY more big and that gives more places to discover for the players. Finally, i grow up seeing some of the european trucks (like Scania, Iveco, Renault, Volvo and Mercedes) even here in my country Argentina. So i like more their style and design.
    One question, how can you drive the truck on ETS2 at 160km/h? Is there a MOD for that or it is something that you can configure on the settings of the game? I never past over 105 km/h and that is if i am going down a hill. Normally i only can reach 90 km/h.

    I have both games, but of the two, the one I play the longest is ETS2. In itself, both are very well done, but ATS has better stability. Unfortunately in ATS I don't have any map dlc, only the base game. On the other hand, I have a doubt regarding the speed limits in ATS and to know if it is really like that in real life. Is it true that you can drive a truck over 90 km/h, as it appears in the game? Particularly, in ETS I drive maximum at 90 km/h to be more realistic and I have activated the speed limiter. In ATS, I see that I can go over 100 km/h, but is this true in real life? Can trucks in the USA really go over 100 km/h? Let's see if someone who is a truck driver in real life can answer me this question.

    • @Peter-bakker

      I read somewhere that in navada the truck speed limit is around 80 mp/h so i think its correct

    • @xtremegamer2218
      @xtremegamer2218 2 года назад

      Usually here in the US, cars and trucks share the same speed limit. Unless there are separate truck speed limits, all traffic does have the same speed limit. But many trucks are limited to a certain speed by their company. Usually around 65-70 mph (104-112 km/h), but there are many trucks that will go 75 mph (120 km/h) or faster.

    • @Peter-bakker
      @Peter-bakker 2 года назад

      @@xtremegamer2218 and because the distance in the USA is bigger and have straighter roads the trucks can drive faster or do i see that wrong?

    • @xtremegamer2218
      @xtremegamer2218 2 года назад +3

      @@Peter-bakker It is not necessarily the long distances and straighter roads that trucks can go fast. There are many stretches of road that go through hilly or mountainous terrain. It is up to the states to enact speed limits. For example, in California on all freeways and highways, all trucks or all other vehicles with 3 or more axles or those that are towing have a speed limit of 55 mph (90 km/h). There are many stretches of road in California that are straight, meaning trucks can safely be doing at least 70 mph (112 km/h). But they cannot do those speeds legally. In Missouri, the speed limits there are applied to everyone. There are no separate speed limits for trucks in the entire state. On Interstate 44 outside of Springfield, Rolla, and St. Louis, the speed limit is 70 mph (112 km/h). There are many curves and some steep grades on that road, with some curves that have a design speed lower than the speed limit. Yet, the speed limit is still 70 mph (112 km/h) for everyone. Meaning there are some places where trucks will likely struggle to maintain the speed limit or the speed that they’re going. There are also many state and US highways in Missouri that have a speed limit of 55 mph (90 km/h) but are filled with curves and hills in which you cannot safely be doing the speed limit. That is why there are advisory signs stating a safe speed for each curve that has a lower design speed than the speed limit. And I believe, at least in Missouri, that the advised speed on those sign are dependent on how fast a truck can safely go. So usually, cars and such can go faster than the advised speed. Note that they are advisory signs and not speed limit signs, meaning that you can go faster than the advised speed, but doing so at your own risk.
      Also, from what I have seen in ETS2 and ATS, trucks have different gearing. In ETS2 trucks are geared to drive efficiently up to around 90 km/h. Anything above that and the engines are above their efficient rpm range. In ATS, trucks can go up to 75-80 mph (112 km/h-128 km/h) without their engines screaming or being outside their efficient power range. This is due to the different regulations in both continents. Since much of Europe restrict truck to 80-90 km/h, the truck manufacturers do not see a reason to add gearing to their trucks past 90 km/h. In the US, many places share the speed limit for both passenger vehicles and trucks. Trucks can go 60-80 mph (96-128 km/h) on interstates and other controlled access roads depending on the speed limit. So truck manufactures see a reason for trucks to be able to go those speeds.

    While both games are equally great, obviously ETS2 has a bit more content since it's been around much longer. But I would say that ATS could be a bit more challenging in the loading areas since US truck are longer (both trailer and the tractor). So when you need to maneuver this long American highway tractors at the small Walbert Store for example it could be quite a bit more challenging than doing the same operation with a shorter and much more nimble European tractor. It's a vast difference in tight spots, trust me.
