Very true. Japan felt like home to these artists which is why they keep coming back. They didn't get disrespected as they did with the tabloids, press, and news in America. Japan respected artists as a part of their family.

@@jeframp3805 This was filmed in two different places, i.e. Tokyo and Osaka. If you notice, when the video started, Pete was NOT wear an eyepatch! But then you see him in the next shot wearing one!
The Japanese knows what is great music. It’s not a surprise they did so well in Japan
And they make great live audiences! Remember Cheap Trick Live at the Budokan? The audience was amazing.
I would say the Japanese are those who knows the least about music, as had been said many times before but okay. They don't know what new wave and gothic means but still do them. And then gets shocked when you take them to a gothic club. All this music has a history, but they don't know shit about the history. That's why they think its enough to say you're gothic or punk, but not drink blood or do any of the scene activity around midnight. They're still a parent abiding kid who drink milk and go to bed early and live boring lives. They can look intense, but are the most boring people you can run into. A punk should be different than a Westlife fan. Get on the right track kids.. 😂

@@Linchpin_TF they were not a one hit wonder. They had 2 top 40 hits in the US.Spin me around hit number 11 and brand new lover hit 15 plus a number of their songs hit the dance charts .They had 10 top 40 hits in their native UK.
at least in my country they weren´t a one hit wonder band, so many hits, their music made my dancefloor days
@@stevenfeltes1675 they aslo had a number one in Japan with Turn around and count to ten and a top 20 with hit and run lover their last hit . That was 16 years after spin me and from one of their last albums in 2001 I believe. They disbanded shortly after then and Petes health prevented him doing much solo work bar Never Marry and Icon and Jack and Jill party.
God he looked so happy. This was probably the only part of his whole career that made him smile was performing.
Pete knew he had many Japanese fans.

I deejayed for over 30 years, radio, clubs, mobile. I learned to like all kinds of music. Dead or Alive always brought the dance floor to a frenzy! By the way, I have a huge record collection, but I only bought one concert video in my life. It was this one. Oh yeah. Add this to your trivia. Dead or Alive joins a very small, elite group of bands that never had a slow song or ballad as one of their hits. Chuck Berry and George Thorogood are two of my favorites that also fit that criteria. R.I.P. Pete!
Heh David, "In to deep" did get to 14 on the british charts. Could be classed as a minor hit, it was diffently a ballady/slow thing from them. Not a favorite of mine, but who cares. youthquake was one of my high rotation albums at the time of release.
Miss the days of looking forward to a band/artist releasing a song/album. Todays music biz isn't exciting like it use to be. Today's kids will probably say the same thing a s we say in 30 yrs time.
