Always good when you can walk away and talk about it. Always hurts when you get the first scratch on the new truck mate, but now its done its time to really rumble 👍👍👍. I'm pleased for you and your mates and all your hard work that there is so little damage, relatively speaking.
Great to see there's no real damage, they are tough old trucks. Put mine over on the side, then fell over again during recovery, only a couple of side windows and a few small dents scratches - should upload the video someday.
Made my night, it looks in unbelievably good nick still, you look a whole happier as well and all that thought into where everything goes paid off I reckon. Good on you Roothy, a few lessons for us here regarding a well prepped vehicle
Been there, done that. With all due respect, there sure is a ton of stuff on your roof which move your center of gravity up. She’d be more tame on the road and on the dirt if you could toss some of that weight overboard or move below the truck’s center of gravity. I know...it’s hard to do when the Mrs. likes to go four wheeling with you. Girls gotta have stuff.
Good work, remember for every 1 inch of lift, you need 1.5 inches of increased width for your traction (rims, tires, axles width), also looks top heavy. Bring the weight down, water, roof rack goods. Keep up the good work from Chicago.
When changing the hight geometry from factory stock, then yes. This can be achieved with wheel and tire width, spacers, and wider axle if possible. This will restore the factory stability and geometry. Going tall and not widening the footprint makes the vehicle less stable in such terrain.
Unfortunately that's a bit too sensible for Australian laws. It's illegal to increase your wheel track by more than 25mm total in most states unless you go through an expensive process of getting the modification engineered. Ditto for anything more than about a 50mm lift.
Glad Karen was ok - don't forget that necklace! Oh, 45kg on the very top of the vehicle plus the recovery gear? C of G was a little too high - contributory factor! Yoda says: "To the ruts you must stick"!
Glad everyone is OK, but that truck rocks and rolls more than Elvis did. I think it's more to do with spring rates and the lack of anti-sway control from the suspension set-up. I've watched how much sway it gets up during the proving trials, especially in the Flinders, some of that was a real Adrenalin rush - sadly I don't think it can be cured due to the design, think you need a totally different suspension if you're going to keep loading it like that and doing what you do - all that topside load above the narrow waist of the suspension and it's almost certain to lie down sometimes.
Well u no that's a good engine long as you can look after that. U got no worries. Cos when you get back up on.its wheels and the engine runs. U no you not going to run battery's flat. Cos long as you go and winch and high lift jack and big hammer and some Nice steal bars u can punch a hole in the wing or whatever you can pull that out and keep going. More fun 2 3 rachet straps. All good. I was out on boxing day this year and smashed my drivers window out. That was cold and wet but was a great day. Keep wheeling. From Andy in UK

Not too bad mate. Adds a bit of character but probably a tad more than you planned at this point.
I love 40's. They look so awesome!
Each time I see you videos mate I wish that we had of kept my dad's FJ45V, brilliant 4wd's that were built tough!!!!!
Glad you guys were not hurt.

Boris Levin so a 3 inch lift needs wheels with 5cm negative offset on each side?

Thats unfortunate, but this geometry business and keeping a low center of gravity should always be on our minds when building 4x trucks.
Would love to see a video on the windscreen replacement Roothy, I've heard the 40's can be a bit tricky.

Thanks John, i was waiting to see this!
Pretty sure I saw you driving that beast through Manly West towards the Gateway Mwy, earlyish, about a week ago.
All ads to the story of the old girl Roothy!

Excellent news milo2 isn’t to bad :-)
as long as you and the handbrake are ok....thats the main thing. You can always replace a truck
Milo2's new nickname "Tippa"
Fair bit of weight up top wouldn't help
Diidly Pepper true
Drove straight up the high side of the track, what did he think would happen?? So much for years of experience..
fair good stack mate, nice attitude :)
So the roof rack disembarking so freely is not an issue?
Please let me know when you're on the road so I don't meet you, flying roof rack an' all.
