Ridiculous bad faith there. This is obviously not coming from "someone besides the ref" but from the ref himself. And since Borel raised the finger in his coach's direction (and not the ref's), it's a huge stretch of the imagination to say it's an acknowledgement gesture rather than a way to tell his coach he is right to protest. Early "Halte" = touch cancelled. That might look unfair, but that's the rule.
