@@Zuignap lots of his content-efficient charity have alternatives that are would gather less views but have deeper or longer-term impacts as a trade-off. what he does is still a net positive for society, but it feels like a wasteful operation all in all
I think I remember before in an interview Mr Beast said that he doesn't recommend his lifestyle to other people because he's optimized making content so much he has no ability to live or enjoy a normal life behind the scenes. Many people with that grindset mind aspire to be like him without realizing he's treating himself like a content mill and not like a person.

@@Exarian Yeah I'd agree one of the few positives to come out of it would be him telling his audience what he did is dangerous emotionally and morally for a person.
I'd usually say the audience is responsible for themselves but his is a majority children and are having really unhealthy mindets instilled in them from that kind of content.
Could also say kids shouldn't even be watching it and parents should do better but... that's a whole other deal.

Mr Beast is perhaps the most nihilistic youtuber. He hasn't cared about anything since he was a kid apart from being a massive youtuber. Listening to any interview with him is incredibly depressing if you aren't on board with that endless hustle lifestyle. He conflates engagement and retention with enjoyment and quality, and it results in soulless content (a term I usually hate but absolutely applies here)

Also Fun fact: Hormel foods settled lawsuits this year accusing it of price fixing pork products since 2009, thereby directly contributing to food insecurity. The lawsuits were filed as early as 2018, Mr Beast's video was in November 2021.
Don't forget about the occupational hazard known as pork brain mist that disabled and killed quite a few workers at Hormel's factories.

I'm not sure how widespread it is, but I've seen some people who think a lot of Mr Beast's work is exploitative. He gives offers that desperate people can't refuse in order to use them for entertainment. It's kind of like offering homeless people money to fight each other, although obviously less extreme.
It is probably exploitative, but nonetheless despite using people's suffering for views he is often actually helping people in the process. Just probably not enough to actually accomplish much.
At the end of the day I don't really think he's good or bad, but rather just exists
You can only think that if your completely negative about giving money to people
@@wyn9693 Yes but you could technically say the same about homeless fight videos if they were give $1000 to do it. Obviously the degrees are much different, but it illustrates the point that someone can be exploited even if they ultimately gain from being exploited.
It’s exploitative in aggregate, but on an individual level if you need help and some random RUclipsr helps you out, that’s a good thing for you. The real problem is that it teaches people to think that our problems can be solved by benevolent billionaires.
Yeah screw Mr Beast for giving people in desperate situations thousands of dollars for competing in game show challenges for mutual benefit

Mr Beast has cracked the code on printing money for himself, and part of that code involves using that money to give large gifts to people who are in unfortunate or exploited positions. It feels gross because it's turning the worst parts of capitalism into a feel-good entertainment product that doesn't actually do anything to solve the root of any issues.
However, Mr Beast "philanthropy" obviously helps its beneficiaries and it comes with a pro-social message, which is more than can be said for a lot of internet entertainment. I can't look into the mind of Jimmy Donaldson and tell you whether he cares more about money or helping people, but its hard to feel anything worse than ambivalence for someone who has made a fortune by sharing part of that fortune with other people.
"I sleep in a big bed with my wife"

I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with Mr Beast but every time I see one of his videos all I can think about is how insane it is for someone to have so much money they can throw away millions on a RUclips video. Like all I can think about when I watch mr Beast is squid game, which makes it hilarious that he did a squid game video, entirely missing the point of squid game.
I think my problems with mr beast are not the concempt of his videos, its that there is nothing in it everything is just made for the sole purpose to keep yiurbattention

I understand that people aren't interested in the Mr Beast vids but there really isn't a basis for this sense of superiority radiating off some comments. The videos have interesting over-the-top premises with extravagant production and extremely punchy editing. There isn't an ounce of authenticity and it's not intellectually stimulating but it's fun to see people's reactions (as played up as they are) and think about the situation with yourself in it.
The 100 ages one was pretty good in this way for the drama. If you enjoy any other slop in your life, you can understand the appeal I think.
Mind you, I also don't click on mr beast vids by myself, but I enjoy watching it with friends and I can appreciate what it brings to the living room table even if I don't interface 100% with it.
Mr beast has no opinions. He’s a creation of the algorithm. Uncanny valley. Not even human. He could be AI, we wouldn’t know.
he’s talked about in interviews that he aims for that too. like the less of a person with a potentially-disagreeable personality he has, the better (in his eyes). wild stuff. he’s truly RUclips-maxing.

Most sane online presence😭🤣literal multiple comments on this and how it’s negative he genuinely helps what do they want him to do keep it so they can says he hoards wealth… they just have to be mad about something
@derekpapin2181 it seems hard to argue that it's intrinsically noble when it's the root of his extraordinary wealth. Iunno, i just don't think society should be organised in a way where a rich guy giving folk money is the way out of poverty, and filming it for clicks leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think he's evil, ant i haven't seen anyone really claim that, but i don't like it
@@tsawy6 I’ve seen tons of people in this comment section say he’s evil detestable your type always does that you don’t have to just lie, the people where he dropped the wells are happy and love them, why are you trying to force others to live in a perfect world when we don’t and you don’t how much do you donate? people think them complaining about issues on the internet is changing the world, more than literally changing things in the world
@@derekpapin2181 I think the issue is not with Mr. Beast himself, as NL says. What is problematic is what he represents, the belief that we must rely on the altruism of ultra-wealthy individuals (people who typically aren't as philanthropic as Mr. Beast) to relieve people of their socioeconomic troubles. The wells, the surgeries, and the cars he has provided are all good and kind acts, but those acts wouldn't have been necessary if our societal institutions and governments prioritized people's wellbeing.
The biggest problem with subduing the baby bear probably isn't the cub, it's the mother. If you're caught trying to take the kid's lunch money, she's going to make sure it's your turn.
NL: I'm trying to be nice
Also NL: Your content is trash, you care about views too much, and you need to find the meaning of life
He's trying to be nice, but the man lives a life that has values antithetical to NL. There's little way to fame that nicely
It comes across as a touch salty, at least to me. Why not just be honest and say that you won't be nice.
Not the meaning of life. The meaning in his life.
Mr. Beast is whatever but I’m glad that he supports Kris after her transition. If he can convince some too online kids to be chill to trans people he’s good in my book
Mr Beasts philanthropy feels to me like just a PR. I mean its nice but he earns way more from it.
Yeah, it is PR and it's good at the same time. He spends money to earn more money, if he can help some people at the same time - more power to him
@@bertsteinichin socialism charity is nonexistent
I don't hate that he does good things with his money (percentage-wise quite a bit more than most wealthy people), even if it is entirely just for content (which idk if it is) but I hate that we live in a world where it's up to philanthropy to solve such fixable problems.
@@mewwww17 I mean if someone can get so absurdly rich just from making RUclips videos (and ofc investing after) then someone else must be really poor on the other side. There can't be rich without poor.
Beast is not likeable because he treats all humans as potential content and doesnt seem to really care about anyone he interacts with. He smiles and nods like a human but its all in service of views. The only way he could be redeemable to me would be to use his platform for real social change but I doubt he could be as popular as he is if he actually pushed a real message.

One of the videos where reading the comment section is very much not enjoyable. Tragic because I thought there would be some good jokes, instead its just people hating Mr. Beast because he's rich and using bad faith arguments to pretend to be reasonable all the while simply venting their hatred of society and blaming it on one guy simply because he is popular and a (benign) symptom of the problem
I do feel the need to say that I don't watch Mr. Beast before anyone attempts to crucify me, I think I've watched one Mr. Beast video ever and it was the one with Mark Rober in it
Nah man you don’t understand: all those wells he built and all that ocean trash he disposed and all those trees he planted all that blindness he cured, it’s actually all a BAD THING for us and society because… uh………………

oh sorry, we should be just making jokes right. uh... "okay, okay, lets enrich this guy, lets enrich this guy with ONE MILLION DOLLARS for content(no clickbait)"
I’m more annoyed at MrBeast’s copycats. At least MrBeast does something a bit creative with his money, but copycats just churn out videos only for profit
Mr beast is like dude perfect without the talent. I don't get the entertainment behind it tbh. It's my first trend in awhile I've never understood. Were people watching dude perfect for the editing style?
The Offspring said it best, it's cool to hate. Nothing more needs to be said, everyone has haters and Beast is just a big target so attracts more of the hater pool. That's just how it goes, innit.
people hate him because he's the most popular youtuber and it's cool to hate popular things. at least that's 95% of those chatters
i feel like i know too much about this topic. ive been watching mr beast for over 8 years. since way way before he was famous. and ive watched basically all his interviews and everything. all im gonna say is that he genuinly is a real good person. hes never decieved or had an alterior motive with his actions. hes never said that you need to act the way he does if you want to be successful. he has actually often said not to copy his lifestyle because it completly lacks balance. NL is taking clips hes seen out of context.
and the reasons people dislike him is the same reasons people dislike anybody who is super famous or succesful. they hate that they are famous and succesfull, they dont hate the person.
sorry for paragraph andy
tbh I don't think I've seen more than like ten of his videos, but even then some of the opinions I've seen about him and his content (even in just this comment section) are a bit bizarre. It's totally fine to not like him or whatever, but a lot of it seems like such a waste of energy
I don't like him because performative philanthropy isn't one of the more nauseating veins of capitalism.
I kinda don't get the whole "meaning in life" argument tbh. Maybe Mr Beast thinks youtubemaxxing and philanthropy is his life mission. Maybe he is genuinely happy doing it? I don't know, I'm not a psychologist so I won't psychoanalyze the guy. Besides, it's not like we have an objective definition of "the meaning of life" so I don't really get using that as a criticism. Different people have different interpretation.
I dont think NL was trying to condemn, just be thought provoking. Like do you think you would be happy if you were Mr.Beast? Do you think he feels like his work is meaningful?
NL is enlightenment-maxxing you wouldn't get it. At a certain point in life you have to stop and smell the flowers and actually live. NL is a millionaire who enjoys cutting the grass. The criticism is that MrBeast lives a shallow life but not really being present and appreciating it. E.g. ruclips.net/video/srxDtefn740/видео.html
Cool if Mr Beast content is not for you. He’s been going for more artsy with some stuff lately. But I find most people hate MrBeast cause they don’t like the idea that RUclipsmaxxing can bring fulfillment/happiness. I think with anything entrepreneurial it can work but people don’t like to face that their values aren’t making them happiest. When really it’s just different strokes for different folks. No need to try and justify someone else isn’t happy.
Or people don’t like him cause instead of just typing platitudes online he’s actually helping people. And that leaves a bad taste in my mouth cause usually it’s not the person actively doing charity that’s against it but those who view being good is typing on Twitter. With the former, it’s like there’s more than one way to help people and most see that but fine if you don’t. The latter is helping no one and are a net negative of the oxygen they consume
Based RUclips comment
You’re not getting the tesla
Can't say anything about the charitable acts of course but it just feels like he is disingenuous with his actions. Seems like he is doing the charity because people like that he's doing charity and not because it's intrinsically good, the charity itself should be encouraged whatever the reason but it doesn't help my view of his character.
It's jealousy, the dude literally spends millions on philanthropy and random contestants on his gameshow.
