for several years I rode my bicycle to work mostly along the American River Parkway This whole album matched the time it took to get to work . this song was my favorite and riding through the fog with Sheila chanting was such a beautiful experience. The cadence so matched my speed that some days it was a spiritual experience
It's stunning to hear such talent...a vocalist who doesn't use actual "words" but just "syllables" to create...umm...not a "song", but a beautiful vocal 'reverie' using traditional scale patterns. Amazing!
Those notes represent a musical scale, I dont know if it has to do with a C# describing a mixolidyan scale, and that is why she starts in "Pa" being that "Sa" is the first note of that scale...

It’s a standard Indian classical music technique. You can find thousands of such performances on yt. Sheila is special for sure, though.
