This video just filled my eyes with tears... I am not obsessed with hand washing but I have many other kinds of obsessions. I've been suffering from OCD for about 5 years and this illness has ruined all my life. I had to quit my PhD at university. I remember in 2018 I couldn't go out of home during 6 months because of so many rituals I had to do at my apartment. Taking antidepressants for years helped me to get rid of most of my obsessions but I still have some that disturb me too much and don't allow me to live my life. I know that feeling, I know how painfull it is... It seems like it will never be over. Although I am better now compared to how I felt 2 or 3 years ago, but I also still avoid a lot of people. People around me don't understand it. And I know that feeling when you get more support from unkown people on social media than from your close ones...

Oh Chris....it was heartbreaking to listen to your story but at the same time , because so much of what you said resonated with me exactly, you have no idea how much you are helping the OCD community with your honesty.
If I could give you a hug I would.
You should be so very proud of yourself for the remarkable improvement you have made. I follow your videos with Liz and they are truly inspirational.
    Take care

I also have OCD. It's Pure O, so I don't have rituals, just obsessive thoughts. I can see you went through so much pain Chris. I hope you're doing well now and wish you all the best.

I cannot believe Chris’s story ended without dealing with how he got from the desperate situation he was in to how he healed and obviously began to manage his OCD. What a let down. This was no help whatsoever!!!!!!

I am sorry you felt this story was not helpful. We hope you took the time to listen to the whole 22 minutes of his story. He shares much towards the end about how finding a therapist who specialized in ERP based therapy for OCD changed his life.
