Great video Peter, I have a question for you if you don't mind me asking. I have made a couple of these rings. The problem with my ring is the shank will not stay in the original shape. I call myself leaving the shank with plenty of material. How do I keep this from happening again?

Larry Dallas I’m not sure what you mean, but I’m guessing you refer to the filing technique, if so I have a few filing tests that help

@@jewellerytrainingsolutions9978 Peter my shank would not be round after I have soldered the setting to the shank. Then when I reshape the shank it would cause the outside settings to be oval shape and the prongs too far apart. Making me to bend the prongs to set the stones.
I have a long way to go to make my ring look anywhere close to what yours? I appreciate you replying to me and if you don't have time to get back to me I understand, Thanks again!

@@LarryDallas It sounds like the angle of the settings are not right for the curvature of the ring, hence when you force the ring to the right shape it pulls the settings and deforms them, this means you will need to work on shaping the settings before attaching the ring shank.

@@jewellerytrainingsolutions9978 thank you for your response Peter, I will definitely be working on the setting making sure they are right. I appreciate your comment!

@@jewellerytrainingsolutions9978 thank you but, I meant the tweezers holding the ring when it's been soldiered together, guess I didn't express it correctly.

Live & LetDie I think they are called ring soldering tweezers. Check out the Rio Grande Jewelry website under soldering they should show up
