    Just came across this video this morning and I must say that I would definitely buy this one. Very functional and spacious!!! I like how dark the inside gets and having the LED lights completely down the center corridor makes it very nice. The outside at the front with the awning that runs the entire front is a plus!! All around, it's the best tent I've seen in a while. Excellent presentation, you sold me on it.

    You make it look so easy, how come when you take the tent out for the first time, the poles green sticker is on the inside and when you try and twist the pole the corner knuckle will not turn it’s a hard to put up, eventually after putting pressure on the knuckle the pole turned but was not easy, and packing is not straight forward either

    Amazing videos and podcast Ben & Lauren, can't stress this enough. Does the dark tinting/coating help with retaining heat at night? Does it retain any smidge of extra heat compared to say normal non-tinted fabric, or compared to a canvas material fly sheet? Many thanks ☘

      @SnowysOutdoors  Год назад

      I'm glad you enjoy our content, Noccer, thanks for the kudos.
      Regarding heat retention, I'd say purely based on the fact that there is a little bit of extra material laminated to the fabric i.e. the dark coating, it would retain a little bit more heat than fabric without the coating, but I reckon anyone claiming to notice much, if any difference on a cold night must be superhuman. ~ Ben

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  3 года назад +2

      Not sure how we could realistically test that, FadedDreamz, but I can say that you can't expect the temperature inside of a completely zipped up tent in direct sun to be lower that the outside, it becomes an oven as there is nowhere for warm air to escape, it just keeps getting hotter. However, if you combine the light blocking material with adequate ventilation and set up the awnings for extended shade, then it provides a much cooler space, in much the same sense that a house with eaves is cooler than one without.

      The darkroom coating is only on the fly, so to block out all the light you need to zip the fly up completely. As soon as you open up sides you will be letting filtered light inside. I's say that if you have the entire side awning up it will be dim enough to sleep by. You cold leave one end (a third) of the awning down and the other two sections set up, this would still leave a reasonably dark room at one end. ~ Ben

      I think it's all a balance of price and function, T. I think if manufacturers put more stability in tents to cater for the worst of weather then they become far too expensive and bulky for the average camper. I do think that air pole tents are one of the best all round options though, if the weather is more than the frame can handle, then at least is collapses then pops back into shape afterwards.

      You would need to pitch the awning so the water can run off, Matthew, it's more for shade than rain protection as the water will pool purely based on the design. The only way I can see it working is to use shorter awning poles so the water is directed away from the tent. ~ Ben

    Hi Ben. at 09.50 the picture shows one door with RED zipper stitching and the other with BLACK zipper stitching.

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  2 года назад

      Nice pick up, BIZPIX1, that's not something I thought about but it would make sense. You can orient the flysheet either way, but it seems that the door marked with the black zipper correlates with the switch location. So, you would want to orient that black door towards on the side you plan on using as the main access to the tent so the switch is accessible, and this could be either front or back. Turns out in the video I had it set up so the switch was at the back door. ~ Ben

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  3 года назад +2

      @nqwi11 that's not feedback that we've had really, so it is hard to comment on it specifically without understand the exact situation of the reviews you mentioned. This tent has a great waterhead rating, so there's no issue with using it in the rain.
      Camping is one of those things where you really do need to apply some common sense, an understand that you're in a tent, not a solid building. All awnings, either on tents or off vehicles, will be susceptible to pooling in terrible weather and heavy or prolonged rain. If you are not able to be around to manage this, or you are expecting severe weather overnight, then its best to secure the tent fly down.
      We've sold hundreds, if not thousands of these tents, and we've not really heard of this. I expect its mostly just situational.
