    Tip of the day: tired of looking for boots,shoes and jackets?
    Have the boys build two shoe rack and two coat hangers put one at the front door and one in the mud room. Be they example by putting your things away first. No more looking or searching for them.
    So goes the leader so goes the troops.

    • @BlueberryGirl723
      @BlueberryGirl723 19 дней назад +9

      Yep. All that wood they have the boys could build the hangers, and even make them fancy hangers by making a family logo and doing the logo on the wooden hangers by wood burning, which is a beautiful art form. They can even make little hangers for the tiny coats.☺️
      My grandparents had a resort in upper Michigan, and they made some beautiful hangers. Then they made closets with just simple smooth boards, and had a shelf on top for hats whatever, and shelves down each side to put gloves, scarfs, shawls, etc. Each person had their own cubby for their things. A sturdy long rod was hewn out of a small tree, and wooden hooks were added to place the rod into, four of them to be exact. The four hooks gave the rod good support, as coats are heavy. A bench sat across from where the coats were hanging where everyone could take off their shoes, boots, what have you. Then the footwear was all placed on a shoe rack. If boots were wet or muddy they were immediately cleaned off at a utility sink, then placed on a rack near a heater vent. Rubber boots had their own separate rack near the door with an umbrella stand next to it, and that sat under several windows that gave great light into that mud room. It took little time to make all of it, but it was functional, and very organized, which saved loads of time.
      Chaos is lost time, and lost time is lost productive work, and so in the end less time for fun things. They spend far too much time just running in circles looking for things. Maybe Justin will hear you, because it sure would save him and the kids a lot of wasted time. These are wonderful people, and they do so much for their community. It’d be so helpful to themselves to take just a few moments to do these simple things to get their place organized. And who honestly likes shoving their feet into cold shoes on a cold outside porch all the time? Not me!
      Those young men could knock this out in no time flat, and surprise their parents with a super nice mud room. I was watching Montana Haven and those boys build a lot of things working with their parents. They had a wall up in no time flat that gave the family an entry room area. The twins also have their pilots licenses now at age 18, and have their drivers licenses. Justin’s young men have great opportunities ahead, but they have to see them and understand them first. This is a great family Justin and Rebecca are raising, and once organized there would be no stopping them on what they can accomplish.

      😂 WRONG! Too many times their rooms were trashed. I was cleaning in the middle child’s room, and under the bed I found the missing bowl with a moldy half of eaten on grapefruit. She was too tired to take the bowl to the kitchen, went to sleep, then forgot about it. That’s when she lost eating privileges in her room. It was also about the time I decided enough on the chaos and got the kids organized. Life flowed a lot smoother for everyone, no more lost privileges, and they ended up with a lot more time to do things they enjoyed. It’s all how you choose to live. Some chose the chaos, because it is hard work to change bad habits. It’s easier to just do nothing about it, but the problems it causes in the long run are much more difficult, but it’s all about the resistance and the rising above it all. Either you do it or you don’t.

    Ditch the cube thing for freeze drying broth - its easier to just pour it into the trays and use a spatula to funnel it into jars after freeze dried. I do raw eggs this way as well when in abundance to rehydrate and cook in the winter.

    Recommendation… you need to be weighing your freeze dried foods to make sure they are dry. Setting the freeze dryer for extra dry time gives you the ability to stop and weigh a couple times after the initial machine cycle. I keep a book and scale on hand. Note the item, date, frozen/not frozen, initial weight etc..

    Happy Holidays to you and your family. Add a note to your daily/weekly schedule to check your fuels level supply. That way, you can refill your supply before you run out. Red=gas. Yellow=diesel. Blue=kerosene. Small red cans=gas/oil mix for 2 cycle. Never a mistake that way. Keep a sufficient supply on hand for emergencies. You might want to look into local farming regulations. Sometimes, if you are registered as a farm, you can put a tank in that will allow you to keep fuels on the property for your machinery. You may not need to pay tax on the fuel. You can not use it for regular vehicles. I always keep a can of regular gas with stabilizer and two cans of diesel. The diesel is for my furnace. I run heating oil, but occasionally my delivery gets delayed. I just dump 5 gallons in the tank before it gets emply. It slightly reduces the efficiency but will keep me warm if my delivery is delayed. It is not for everyday use. Only emergencies. Sometimes, Mother Nature interferes with the delivery. In certain areas of the US, heating oil is mixed with diesel. Mine is normally pure #2.
    Just like the wood for your boiler, be intentional about other fuel sources. Those include gasoline, possibly solar, propane and butane, as your needs require.

    • @bncsmom1
      @bncsmom1 18 дней назад +1

      They had a tank for diesel, they kept red diesel in it for their farm equipment. It's possible their supplier hasn't been able to come out to refill it since the hurricane.

    With regards to freeze drying, you will lose a lot of food if you do it improperly. Most people think it’s done when it actually requires a lot more time. Never try to freeze dry fat it will not work! And I learned by experience apple juice does not freeze dry, high sugar content products do not like to freeze dry, certain candies will work others won’t cream does not work. Milk is excellent, buttermilk is great ! But Products with real chocolate won’t work! Store-bought chocolate milk does so I’m assuming it must not be real chocolate😂 but what you should do is take your product out when it says it’s done and weigh it Then put it back in for two hours. remove and re-weigh ,if it has dropped in weight put it back in for four hours pull it back out weigh it. Be sure to use oxygen absorbers and be sure to use a good sealer to suck out the remaining o2 if you use jars!

    • @bncsmom1
      @bncsmom1 18 дней назад +4

      Apple juice DOES freeze dry; you just need to dilute it 50/50 to get it to work.

    The big difference with freeze-drying is that the vitamins and minerals never go away during storage and while canning & jarring will works just as good it will only keep for 5-10 years before there's nothing but calories left. While it is nothing for freeze-drying to store for 20 years (in proper conditions) you should always give any consumable you open from long-term storage a good sniff to make sure it's still good.

    Get your fuels right, Justin you can get away with this situation with a gas motor, but you do that with a diesel, Ie: pour gas in it and start it, you will have a real big repair bill

    • @nicknitro9170
      @nicknitro9170 19 дней назад +4

      Yeah except it is the other way around.. diesel engines can handle up to 20% gas (especially older models) gas engines 0.. that’s why in Europe diesel handles don’t fit in gasoline cars ..

      Not everyone is riding around with a 7.3 Ford diesel or an older GM diesel. You are correct. Older diesel engines can handle nearly anything that you feed it. Try to feed newer diesel engines gas, even a gas diesel mix. You will be buying a new engine.

    Shabbat Shalom friend!
    FD TIP! I thought I’d share how I do bone broth in the FD. I put the trays in the rack all but maybe 6”. Using a fat separator, I release the amount in the bare tray until it’s up to the wee edge, then gently slide it in. Discard or save the fat. Pour another bit of broth in the next tray and repeat. When it’s finished I scoop off the tray (doesn’t stick). It crumbles as you saw. I crumble it into a gallon jar. Then when I use it I scoop out usually a 1/4 cup for a mug. It’s pretty simple. I keep it in the pantry for regular use without an O2 absorber but for long term storage I use a couple O2 absorbers and it’s good for a long time. The consistency of crumbled powder you had is how most things turn out. Beans just turn to powder if you crush them.

    I did not get the whole Christmas parade thing I know you have it every year but that was so confusing.

      I bought a bunch of red and yellow fuel jugs from Rural King. I used a Sharpie to mark my red jugs NON ETHANOL ONLY.

    Whinny is one of the loyalist dog I have seen. That is gone unloved and unfeature. She traveled a long way with you guys on foot. She needs one of those large store bought bones.

    I think the whole family has ADHD 😢! Shouldn't be so hard to find shoes and have gasoline and diesel in appropriately labeled cans.

    Yep. No fun putting diesel in instead of gas.
    REFUEL the FUEL BANKS
    ( multiple cans), JUSTIN.
    Suggestion: 1 location clearly marked diesel. I location clearly marked gas. Place the cans in the correct location. Paint each section the color of the cans to avoid confusion.
    Or not. Up to you.

    Honestly, I’m not surprised the wrong fuel ended up in there. Just watching the chainsaw videos you could see it’s the wrong mixture. Just label everything. That isn’t hard. They are certain colors for a reason.

    you should plan to do a big tree hack this spring, clear more gradually, chipper again for more cleanup; also think about going all in on commercial compost out back somewhere with space - you have the machines - do a community project with it and give away a bunch - you need sources for leaves, grass, misc biomass - anything organic in bulk will compost but you do need ideal mix carbon/nitrogen. it would benefit the land - release the pigs into rotating paddock scheme and re appropriate that space
