Was at the game in Tampa and 3 things stuck out the most to me personally as takeaways: 1. Bijan looks so much faster in person than he does on TV, seeing him make people miss is always impressive regardless, but in person it is just special; dude is a blur. 2. Kyle Pitts is massive and dwarfs even Drake who is listed as an inch shorter, his frame is just so filled that it makes him look like a man amongst boys. The unicorn hype all makes sense now, you can’t lay eyes on him and not be in awe. 3. Zach Harrison is one of the largest human beings I have ever seen, idk what his ceiling truly is, but he needs to be on the field the majority of defensive snaps. You’re not going to convince me that any single OLman can block that for the better part of 60 minutes.
I just wanna say Aaron, you're spot on about the bizarre expectations and opinions of certain NFL fans. It's not unique to the Falcons, but this fanbase seems to be *bad* at managing hype and hysteria. I was blown away by the vitriol on the falcons subreddit. It simply is not normal to clamor for coaches to be fired a month or two into their tenure. And yet I've been seeing that sentiment constantly throughout this season so far. Robinson, Lake, Morris, they've all coped it. I wouldn't feel comfortable saying half that shit about an opposition coach, much less my own team's. On the subreddit at least, the narrative consensus swings violently from "5-12 season, we won't win another game" to "superbowl contenders" literally week to week. It's an incoherent hot/cold dynamic. We are simultaneously one of the worst defenses in NFL history AND one pass rusher away from an elite defense. .I've seen so many people argue that we should trade (1) Allgeier, (2), Bijan (3) Pitts, (4) Penix, (5) up to 3 1st round picks, or (6) some combination of them for a pass rusher. And because they'll never get what they want, or what they wanted didn't deliver the goods, they're perpetually upset and disappointed. It's at a point where I don't even take it seriously, I just roll around in the mud with these people and stir shit. Remember two weeks when everyone and their dog wanted to trade Kyle Pitts for a 4th rounder? Try saying that now and see what happens - it's hilarious. For what it's worth, you are the most thoughtful Falcons creator I'm aware of, and your opinions/predictions are very much appreciated (because you're typically correct). I have been an everydayer for a while now and probably owe you some money by this point. Keep doing you. All the best.
Kirk has the occasional bad game but he always comes back the next week and kills it. he is getting into his groove now and I expect him to play at a high level for the rest of the season. I think he is changing the culture in Atlanta in the subtle way he did with the Vikings. He leads with quiet confidence. No matter what the score is he will never give up or give in.
It’s ok to be disappointed in a defensive that is performing at lower level than last year after the personnel was upgraded. Part of the praise for Rah in LA was he made players elevate their game and play above their perceived talent level. Didn’t expect a good defense, and still disappointing to see us look content with giving up chunks of easy yards each week. They don’t look well coached and that’s ultimately on Rah.
Ever since the draft I felt this defense would be mediocre. The entire draft felt like trying to find young rotation talent rather than true starters that could help this team. It's mostly just frustrating now because we knew they wasted that draft and yet they spent the next few months trying to convince fans that every pick was vital. We wasted Grady's best years and now he is unfortunately teamed up with more slow, aging players that can't move the pocket and every game just feels like another loss waiting to happen. Plus the draft capital given up to move up for backup players now have us in a deficit of picks to fix the line on both sides once the season is over. They constantly pick aging or post-injury players on the line while hoping they have a breakout year again on a new team. Bless Calais but he was just slow trying to set edges and the same goes for Judon. It just sucks feeling like we were set finally at QB and we had draft capital this year to help THIS team and we wasted it. And now these aging players need real replacements and not rotational pieces and we don't have the draft capital or cap salary to fix it anytime soon...maybe
We should have adapted the scheme to our personnel, not the other way around. When we acquired Judon there was no going back. The defensive personnel have to adapt or die. Troy needs to get back asap cuz he covers up some of the weaknesses. On a side note I like what I saw from Demone Harris in his limited play.
If I'm following you Serious B., you're telling us that J. Lake is a one-trick pony? The scheme (4-2-5...2-4-5?) is the scheme. Can't or won't adjust for personnel? Aaron Donald's retired, Aaron! 😢
You are wrong about Kirk. Kirk has played the same as Burrow in playoffs the difference is Burrow defense allows 18 ppg and gets 13 turnovers while Kirk's defense allows 28 ppg and gets 1 turnover. Kirk is an elite QB in playoffs, primetime and regular season. You are the INACCURATE LIAR AARON
This is actually true, Kirk gets a bad rap in the media for some reason. His numbers are right up there with all the top QBs ever since he became a starter
How is kirk cousins "an elite QB in the playoffs"? the dude has one playoff win in 13 years. kirk cousins is so heavily associated with choking in big games that he's only just now demonstrating that he can win on a Monday night, much less a playoff game. Aaron is being more than fair to Kirk, I'd argue he's too optimistic. Kirk is a top 15 QB that resembles a top 10 QB, that fans keep praying will ascend to top 5. Go ask a vikings fan if they felt like they had joe fucking borrow under center the last few years.
Emotional responses are childish. He said nothing wrong. You statistics people who don't actually watch the games make my balls itch. Similar numbers doesn't equate to similar play or similar decision making. You act like he slapped your child with this nonsense you wrote. Disagree, fine. Being disrespectful because you're a fan is what makes you a loser
@@Choice_auyea I wouldn’t say elite but he’s been fine in the playoffs, had one legit bad game vs the niners where u could argue the whole team looked outmatched. Vs the giants he played well, his defense made Daniel Jones look like Josh Allen, so much so that they got him PAID 🤣 Kirk isn’t likely gonna carry any team in the postseason but he’s good enough to win there if the team does their part
Playing devil's advocate here, this narrative is definitely true for his last playoff game, but the 3 before, he was sacked 14 times... He's gotta be responsible for some of those.

Will the real AK, please stand up!
You're a realist when it comes to this team which is smart to be.

It was good to see Kirk putting his lower body in to some of his throws.😮😅😊
Rise Up Dirty Birds !!!!!!! :)
Onyemata and Landmen need to get going.
At least improve a lil', like Ebikete.
Landman is playing hurt and don't seem like he can shake the injuries....Sad because he played so good last yr ....

Judon still makes a difference
Kirko Wheels.
Pitts definitely scored the TD 🤫

I typed "Aaron Donald," before hearing you say his name....but, I knew you would.
One Run-stuffing Hog Mollie + One Quality Edge would be a GREAT off-season. But, regardless, you and I agree: they ARE building a foundation.
Easy to be right all the time when you don’t have a solid opinion yourself and just look at the hype fans and say I told you so lol

Jimmy lake is awful whole scheme is built to just have bodies out there and hope and pray the three playmakers we have carry it.. horrible
