Been talking/ worried about that LT spot since they failed to TRULY address it in the draft. We should be blowing Williams and Bakhtiari's cell phones, BUT I think going after a proven LT would make more sense, so that is why I have leaned to Bakhtiari. If we could swing both, that would make me feel much better for JD's protection. Even if neither can play every game due to health, they will help younger players get better. BUT, We have other needs as well. I still think the best scenario to make us competitive would be trading for Aiyuk, and bringing in Bakhtiari, and Gilmore. Those 3 will address the most important needs we have. If AP wants to show his chops at building a team THAT would cement it for me. Obviously the players still need to perform, so you are correct......If they have not gotten these 3 areas resolved by the start of training camp I will be pissed. They need time to gel and learn our system!!!!

How did they fail? Which tackle was available in the 2nd round that wouldn't be a reach?? You "fans" always complain about reaching for players in the draft and when we finally draft BPA you complain that they didn't reach.

I don't think at this point signing a guy coming off an ACL is a good situation for Washington. If we were a more veteran team like SF or KC and wanted to put a guy in position to work his way back and be a starter at some point of the season perhaps it would make more sense. We have a lot of younger players to evaluate and I would prefer we don't reach for guys coming off major injuries at this stage we just aren't close enough.
Now, Bakhtiari is an interesting case because he is a left tackle. At 32 he says he has another couple of years in the NFL and is recovering from multiple surgeries to return in 2024, but that's not guaranteed. Does the team want to take a chance on an incentive deal for him? His agent indicated he wanted to go to a contender but a run of the leading contenders at this point doesn't show an open spot for a 32 year old coming off injuries that limited him to 20 games over the past 3 years.

We could have filled out our o-line in the draft. Instead of drafting Sinnott, big left tackle Patrick Paul was available. At 66 Rosengarden a plug and play right tackle was drafted and nine picks later the top guard in the draft Haynes went. We missed out on a major opportunity to fix the o-line

Oh well! Maybe they've learned what Rivera's hadn't, that drafting for need instead of best player available doesn't pan out in the long run.

Martin Mayhew survived a dictatorship. Mayhew was responsible for the later round picks, which proved superior to the first round picks Ron Rivera squandered.

Well, I agree there isn't a real chance WAS goes after Connor but for different reasons. What is the Angst with Allegretti? Do we think he can't get the job done, do we not like the depth or competition behind him? After an ACL injury, asking Connor to change back to a position he hasn't played in two years, where he was only average (at best) would signal that something was drastically wrong with Alegretti, imo.

I agree. Our fanbase tends to operate in constant state of doubt and desperation. Rummaging thru others trash instead of fully evaluating what we have here. They trust the opinions of random X, Ytubers and talking heads over those of Adam Peters and staff.

Nick Allegretti never solidified a spot as a starter in KC in the 4 plus years he was with the team. Yes, he went in and played well in the playoffs and Super Bowl when Joe Thuney was injured but to judge a guy on 3 games is really taking a risk. Interestingly he was also a starter on the 2020 team that lost in the Super Bowl to Tampa where the line gave up 7 sacks to the Bucs and Nick was overmatched by the DTs.

JJ McCarthy and Amarius Simms plus 2025 2nd round pick Jayden Daniels. Pass on Brandon Coleman and draft Cooper Beebe. That woukd have fortified the left side of the line. Possibly, even a 2025 first round pick. This is still frustrating.

I know ppl won't like this but the only trade for aiyuk that makes sense is trading Terry for aiyuk. It's a win win for both teams
