    Great video! I'm getting ready to do my brakes here in the next week or so. Hows the wear on these? If its for street riding instead of the track do you still recommend these or would it be better to go OEM?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  9 лет назад +1

      +Joe Rogers The wear is going to be a little bit better than OEM just because they will be able to remain cooler. If you like the look of the wave then why not go for it! They will work just fine for street riding.

      Sportbike Track Gear....upgrading my brakes for this year. Torn between the Galfers and the HP Brembos. Doing canyon carving mostly, but do a track day once a month.
      What do you think Van?

    Hello there, so I did something really really stupid. I didn't tighten the torque wrench enough and that lead to me turning the wrench too hard and break the bolt with the bottom part of it inside the wheel. Do you have any tips for me? if not that's okay, great video tho.

      main thing is get high quality colbalt drill bit very very carefully center punch small dimple in bolt important to be center of broken bolt start with drill one half bolt size or even a bit smaller and drill half inch then use tapered EZ OUT very easy and slowly rock back and fourth try to loosen also try penetring oil before rocking if does not move do not force too much because you can snap off easy out this is best do it yourself

    Do you not grease that axle bolt? Also do you not have to do a front end wheel alignment when you put the front tire back on?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  3 года назад +1

      No need to align the wheel as nothing has changed with the front end. I use a little Maxima MPPL on a rag to coat the axle. - Van

    Would this be a wise choice for a bike that comes with Brembo mono block brakes? I have a 2016 CBR1000RR SP. trying to find out if this is actually an upgrade in the performance category or the looks category.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад

      IMO this is more of a cosmetic upgrade than performance you will notice. The OEM rotors on that bike are excellent and really only need to be replaced when they are worn out. Sure the Galfer rotors do a fine job, just not the type of mod that is easy to feel the difference after doing it. - Van

    I've heard some people say you have to offset the wave discs. You didn't?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  9 лет назад

      Motomade78 The carrier is offset from one side to the next. I did not mention it during the video because it is not always possible to offset the wave pattern and I have ridden with rotors offset and not offset with the same result and feeling at the end of the day. Each rotor kit will come with a brief instruction sheet that should be followed (like any other part you would install on your bike), this video is a good baseline to help a rider decide if they want to tackle the project on their own and showcase the product. - Van

    • @darkninja67
      @darkninja67 8 лет назад

      +Motomade78 Brian is correct. If you cannot offset the wave pattern's valleys just ensure the carriers are offset.
      I run these Galfers with Spiegler lines and EBC HH pads and the stopping power is insane, only need one finger really.

    to be fair, I don't really think that not sitting the pads will generate overheat... the heat is generated because the kinetic energy of the bike is converted into heat by the action of the friction of rotors against pads. Smaller friction means smaller energy conversion so lower heating on the brakes... I would say that the risk is just run way wide or maybe have an unwanted trail in the sand or worse a crash... In addition, the more you squeeze your brake lever the lower control you have on the force you are applying so this may cause an unwanted stoppie or lock the front wheel... Anyway, what is the actual reason (a little more technical) for replacing rotors and pads at once?

    why does it say track use only?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  8 лет назад +1

      You really want to get a good amount of heat into these things in order for them to work properly. With the venting Galfer wants to keep away from street riders depending on these and having them come up too cold. Thanks for the great question!

      Hey, Mr. Higginbotham. You are absolutely right about the audio, it was shameful. We are a small business and previously didn't make much room in the budget for production value and instead just focused on being thorough in the process to help our customers. We know now that a good amount of people like you really care about production value over substance so we have upped our game! Since this video we got a professional for editing and started using some legitimate sound equipment! Check out some of our newer videos and let us know what you think. Thanks for the input!

      I agree the audio isn't great, but I can still hear everything the speaker is saying fine. As far as your mission to educate and guide people through the steps of an install, you guys have definitely succeeded! I've benefited a lot from watching your videos, so don't be too hard on yourselves.
