Knowing Snowdonia a little, this is a massively helpful video.

Thank you! I thought that after 2 attempts and spending a lot of time trying to figure it out ... why waste the effort ;) ... good luck going for it!

Am I correct in saying that to do this you first have to climb up to the summit of Snowdon to START. I mean, this section (from Pen Y Pass, or wherever you begin from - to Snowdon summit) is not included in your 24 hour time, which only begins once you leave the summit and start heading off towards Garnedd Ugain? That is my understanding at least. Thanks.

Correct. The challenge is to be on top of all 15 peaks within 24h ... so you start the clock on any you want. The most convenient for me is either Snowden or Crib Goch (there is a way to take Pen Y Pass to Crib Goch and walk over to Snowden and from there down ... perhaps a bit easier, but longer descent from the first group and additional 3-4k walking on the road. You'd have the advantage of seeing your car twice, though, meaning you can do the first group very light).

Thanks for the confirmation. For me, as I don't have a car it would be a case of heading to Pen Y Pass via bus from Betws Y Coed (which I have done several times now) and going up to Snowdon from there via Pyg or Miners. I would be self-sufficient, as you stated in a previous video and carrying bare minimal weight in a rucksack. Also, and this will make you laugh, I resent the price of taxis, so I would be walking from the finish back to Pen Y Pass afterwards! Hahaha!

Lol ... it is fine. You choose what you want to do. Best of luck in any case! I will wait for your video.
I guess you might start from Pen Y Pass, but you will not go back there in one go?? That is crazy far. Frugal or not, you need somewhere else to stay afterwards or a means of transport, since back to Pen Y Pass is basically a 60k walk around or 80% of the Welsh 3000 back (including the elevation). I guess if you walk from the last mountain north, you can reach the main road and catch a bus (not sure the schedule), but even that would be quite an odyssey.

60k !!!!! Haha, damn, I really need to study this route a bit more seriously! LOL!

The entire route is roughly 38miles in length, because you have to first gain the summit of Snowdon to start the challenge on the summit, and then there's a minimum of 5 to 7miles depending on your chosen route from the summit of Foel Fras.
The Welsh 3000s from summit to summit in around 27miles long, but you have to get up Snowdon and down Foel Fras.

My plan: turn up. Climb. Go home. Simples. 😬🧙‍♂️

    Hi Heiko
Great video mate and loads of info - I normally walk in walking books , but feel these maybe to heavy to do the Welsh 3000 what footwear did you use?

Trail Riding UK I ran twice. First with high trail runners from Salomon (light, but the rubber was sliding too much) and the second time with light hiking boots, which worked better. Once I am home I'll post the details. But you need stability for Crib Goch (and almost only there) and good grip.

Alright, I made it home. I used in the first attempt the Salomon XA Pro Mid. As light and stable as this shoe is (and as comfortable), it lacks grip for those wet and slippery sections on Crib Goch. For the second (and successful) attempt, I used Lowa Zephyr GTX Mid. They are still very light and did a decent enough job. When are you planning to go?

Walsh Fellshoes, massive amounts of grip on grass and wet rock, and the comfort and lightness of a trainer.
