working on a machine like this is truly blessing im an assistant mechanic working on 4000 series, but this...blew my mind...hoping to qualify as full red seal diesel mechanic soon gooood video
Fantastic German Engineering and precision manufacturing from Friedrichshafen at the border of Lake Constance… amazing place and company! Thanks for sharing this video 🙏
Hoe perfectly this massive Engine starts and runs as a switch clock. It needs 5 seconds ? MTU is built in Germany. Very nice Engine for long thurns. Thanks for Video sharing.
@@mcloft hey now I agree German Engineering is the best but you can’t knock Detroit 2-Stroke Diesel Engines - They sound incredible, make tons of power.. they just don’t get as big as these MTU’s. They aren’t mega-yacht material, no but they are excellent for tractor trailers! I’m pretty sure that when not constrained by emissions that the larger displacement 2 stroke Detroit diesel engines have a power ceiling that is much higher than most of whatever else is on the market due to the power dense nature of 2 stroke engines.. it’s just that if one were to modify a large displacement detroit turbo diesel 2 stroke engine freely and without consideration for emission regulations then the amount of black smoke it’d be capable of belching out into the atmosphere would be enough to take years off the lifespan of every person it drove within 100 yards of 😂😂
There are 4 massave air movers drawing fresh air in from outside, with out the air movers the engines struggle to achieve proper rpm, but on a normal startup and route check air movers not necessary, but if on during video you wouldn't hear engine
That’s a pretty blanket statement, but the less noble a metal the more prone it is to corrosion. Some of the high end stainless steels are quite immune to corrosion, S/S propeller shafts for example.

I've always been very much fascinated by the 20 cylinder V engine! They certainly are a beautiful piece of advanced technology!
These big mid-rev marine engines are just so nice to listen to.
my GF wants a 900 rpm 18500 hp 2 stroke MTU dildo!
I Work whit a MTU SERIE 4000 V20 and are amazing, greetings from Colombia!!

MTU= German Engineering Greatness!
Beautiful engines mtu never fails
Those massive engines seem to start with ease
Gotta love compressed air starters.
They make them in Friedrichshafen Germany.

In Germany we say „the engine is build in Oberschwaben“
Oberschwaben is a region which is know for high quality

The MTU 8000 is a bad ass engine
YESSSS!!! - a million times better than any Catarpillar or Detroitt. German engineering

Thanks for sharing so awesome..
Thanks for sharing, nice video, well done man.
4 X MTU 8000 Series 20 V with waterjets!! I know...
Mmmm... this is a very good sounding diesel engine.
Don't know why, but the engine sound is eargasmic to me.
agree
i want to find an MTU8000 monkey and pull its tail and torture it
When the engine started I thought I could smell diesel.

What is the idling speed of those things?
they idle in at about 400 RPM.

Is it possible to have them cooled by a coolant instead of raw salt water it can’t be any good for the cooling system
it is cooled by coolant, sea water flows threw the heat exchangers
What about Prelubrication..? Does it have sequential turbos?

Why air intake inside room engine and when engine working, temperature engine room must be raise, why don't take fresh air from outside

Seawater corrodes metal.
Bulging Battery it’s made of some metal that doesn’t corrode with sea water
