Hello Bruce...love your videos. I'm a newbie leather worker. I have a question...I am looking to make a notebook cover using a combination of veg tan for the outside and then chrome tan for the inside flaps (where the front and back of the notebook will slide into). How would you go about finishing the edges where the veg tan and chrome tan meet? Thanks!
I just love these! I'm trying to figure out how the add a silver bezel on the leather ring so I can add stones to it.. Not sure how I would do it though but if anyone knew I would sure appreciate any advice
YO I need to know what that thickness gauge thingy is called that he used right at the start to figure out what oz. he had!! I'm only a few months into the craft and would kill to have one of those!
Bruce do you ever get dark smudges on your Vegtable tan natural leather. Sorry it's off the subject, just thought your years of experience may help me out. If so how to avoid or remove them?
When wet leather comes in contact with metal or metal shaving it will turn black or have black specs. One way to get rid of the spots is to use a Oxalic Acid solution.
A fun way to get started with leathercraft plus a good way for leather crafter's to use small pieces of scrap leather.
Leave it to the master, to show us what to do with all those small pieces that we hate to discard! Thank you!
Do you by any chance have templates available to print?
I love it!!
Thank You!
Thank you for this instruction.
You are welcome!

Looks like a fun project! Great way to practice 'tiny tooling'! Thanks for the idea. I'm going to give it a try.
A good way to utilize small pieces of leather that we would otherwise throw away. Have fun with it!
Thanks for another great video Bruce. Thank you for sharing your skills and insights.
Very welcome! Thank You!
Very cool project to use up those smaller scrap pieces, and a well put together video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic! White glue works as well as rivets.
Good deal about the glue and less bulk. Thanks!
I’m off to make a couple thanks Bruce. Take care.
Good Deal! Have fun...

Thank you too!
Going to give it a try. I enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Bruce. Tandy has xs in double caps in several finishes. I just bought some. Should do the job for you. Thanks for the videos, as always.
Thanks for the info. Thanks for watching!
Yep the setter for the extra small ones is different from the one you used. It works on all the jiffy/double cap rivets except the extra small one.
Great idea! Appreciate your work and the videos. Thanks again for sharing your amazing talent! I look forward to each episode!
Thank you very much!

Love the Video. Where do you get the knife? thats slick.
Weaver Leather Supply has the knives and curved blades.
Great little project! Would like to know more about the rivets you used.
Short double cap rivets with gun metal finish I got from Tandy Leather.
Good idea
Many many thanks
Большое спасибо Вам за подсказанную идею и работу. Жаль нет субтитров на русском языке, это расширило бы Вашу аудиторию.
Thanks!
That box of jiffy rivets are older than me I think. Lol. Would a lap skive be beneficial at the overlap to reduce the bulk a bit?
Yes lightly skiving the ends will really make the ring less bulky and smoother on the bottom.
👏👏👏👏
Thanks!
Good video
Glad you enjoyed
Love your videos, Bruce. What about skiving the ends where the rivet is to decrease bulk?
Great suggestion! Thank You

Indelible Leather Finishes makes a burnishing solution that works great.

Great idea! You could solder split rivets on the back side and attach to the leather ring that way.

Check out Tandy Leather and Weaver Leather for a leather thickness gauge. Thanks for watching!

How do I draw the pattern template?
Fairly easy to do with poster type paper.
@@cheaneysaddles do you have some basic measurements you wouldn't mind sharing?
手環版型???
Okay! ! !
手環版型男生还是女生?
Where do you get your OZ GAGES AT?
One of the gage's came from Tandy Leather and the other out of a old shoe factory.
