(This isn't a rhetorical question I mean I don't think it's hard) I'm not very good at guitar and I've only been playing for 2 weeks but I learned riptide by vance joy in like 6 days (including the singing) and I learned matilda by Harry styles (without the harmonics and the slide so basically most of the song was the verse) in 5 days and learned to sing at the same time
The context is that I have a small amount of experience singing and zero experience with guitar. I'm not a prodigy I just wanted to learn a song fully including the singing and I learned 2 in 2 weeks not practicing that extensively every day.

As someone who has taught guitar lessons to lots of students , I feel the length of time she has been playing is slightly exaggerated, for three weeks only moving in to chords and notes so smoothly with no stopping no dead notes or muted string . Newbie fingers and a young girl at that on an accoustic as first guitar . Already used to moving shapes and past the pain and not missing a beat when moving the shape . She’s a savant or telling some white lies .

for anyone watching to teach yourself an instrument like a guitar, ukulele, etc, I honestly recommend just finding an easy song you like, and memorizing it. For example, I taught myself to play the ukulele and although it was difficult at first, I can now play virtually any song. Also, memorize the most popular cords used in songs, because a lot of them will be in most songs, that way when you want to learn a new song, you don't have to memorize a bunch of new ones, because you already know them. Also following along to play-along songs helps a LOT. (this is just the way i taught myself, might not be ideal for a lot of people.

This is some amazing progress! I’ve been playing for two years now and I am absolutely blown away by how much progress you made in this one year. The amount of things that you tackled were insane and I commend you for trying your hardest to get them correct from the start. Specifically, I am glad that you tried to get the finger positions down very early on. It’s very easy to just play and not get the positions correct which can lead to the piece being harder to play or not getting the right clarity of notes.
It was very interesting seeing this video because I mostly use a pick to play. I commonly do hybrid pick, though I cannot say that I have tried playing finger style. It seems like a really cool thing to learn and maybe I’ll look into it in the future.
    Excellent job on this!
    Some questions below:
Have you taken any singing lessons? As someone who has been in choir for 10 months, I was not expecting you to sing with such an amazing tone. I have yet to discover what my perfect tone is and I just thought I would mention it in this comment.
What tone did you use for “isn’t she lovely?” If you don’t know the exact settings that is okay. I just found that it was very nice to listen to and I was actually very impressed that you tackled something like that. You did a good job at playing it and overtime you’ll get it perfect!
Do you feel like your piano lessons have helped you with finger independence? I noticed that you were pretty good at doing all this stuff really early on and I’m wondering if playing piano has had any impact on that.
    End of questions
Unfortunately life does get in the way and we have to sometimes invest a lot less time in our hobbies. Even so, you do have a very good worth ethic and even if you don’t play for weeks on end, I know that when you get back you will be making insane improvements. Sometimes it is better to just spaced things out and maybe that is a path that you will be going down for a little bit due to the demands of life.
If possible, I would actually recommend that you write down your ideas on days that you cannot play. I’m not sure if you’ve tried this yet, though musescore is an amazing resource to jot down ideas when you can’t play. I think it is the one thing that has saved me and has allowed me to stay motivated in my journey forward.
Times will get rough and you will get increasingly busy as you progress through life. The biggest thing is never giving up and somehow finding a way to push forward, and I feel that you will definitely keep going one way or another. I look forward to seeing your progress in the future!
    Keep on playing!

Thank you so much for your detailed comment and encouragement, it really means a lot to me.
      Answers to your questions:
      - I've never taken singing lessons but I've loved humming/singing around the house for as long as i can remember!
      - Unfortunately I don't remember the settings I used for "isn't she lovely". I haven't spent much time on figuring out amp settings tbh and usually just fiddle around until it sounds nice.
      - I think piano and clarinet probably helped with finger independence. I also just relied a lot on repetition in the beginning, practicing the same few finger movements that were hard for me over and over even while I watched tv.
I like your tip on writing ideas down even when I can't play - I'll try this out. I'll definitely keep playing in the future, and I hope your guitar journey goes well too!

@@amillionounces Thanks for getting back to me! I really enjoy just going around and seeing everyone’s progress within this area. It’s super cool to see everybody progress at different rates and seeing what they do to get there. Even though I can’t provide much, I can at least be here to support others when I can.
I also used to do the thing where I would do difficult things on guitar while watching something. Hopefully you don’t run into any bad hand problems because those really did suck when I couldn’t play because of it holding me back.
I understand how it is with trying to find a tone though. That is how I usually am whenever I try to find my stuff though it is so difficult to just hammer down that perfect neosoul tone for some reason. I guess I gotta keep fiddling around with my gear lol.
      Keep on playing!
