The lesson seems to be: avoid uncocking the wrists. I can understand why this would result in greater consistency, but would this not result in a reduction in club head speed?

No there is no reduction in club head speed. However there is a significant difference in where the fastest moment of the club head in the swing arc is reached. If you flip the club before impact, you'll reach the fastest point before impact, which means the club will decelerate into the ball. Whereas when you have a lag impact the fastest point is post impact.

I keep hitting push hooks with my DST Compressor. Is this common? How can I straighten it out?

Hi Shawn, Yes don't be alarmed thats quite normal to begin with. It basically means you are releasing the club head minutely too early, which closes the face. The ultimate shot shape to hit with the compressor is a straight shot of even a baby fade. to achieve this you need to feel like you're aiming at the left side of the green (right handed player) and hold the face off through impact. This does two things, it reduces the range of angles that the face points at through the impact area and helps to keep the handle leading the club head through the strike. Hope this helps.
