As a Quinnipiac student, lemme just say that if they lost, I would have been embarrassed to call myself a student there. But since they won, I can say I am proud to be one! 😁
What the fuck was that defensive breakdown on that ot goal. I had to watch it multiple times to try and figure out what the Minny defeneseman were doing.
The play is designed to screw up the defense. Lipkin comes from left wing across to his off wing and down the right side. That and Qullian's speed caused instant chaos with no time to recover. It was essentially a 2 on 0. Lipkin got the pass in front of his defender's stick...on the backhand. Really skilled play all around. Worked perfectly. They apparently tried that play earlier in the game and it didn't work, but luckily it did here.
QU fan here live 35 minutes from quinipiac university. Minnesota can't win with 1 shot on goal in the third when the game hit the third period i knew we would win this game easily.
@@tookingtolet2 Threw him to the ground? no... by the neck? yes... after the initial shove, the other dude holds his stick? also yes... case can be made for coincidentals. The norm in hockey would be to not give powerplays at the end of a tight game if you don't have a CLEAR & EGREGIOS offense. I would also say that the national championship would not be the moment to deviate from the norm and do the unexpected... It isn't world changing, but it is a bad call IMO.
So why do canadians choose to play in the ncaa when they have their own developmental system? I mean, quebec is a talent hotbed, its possible to get buried on the depth chart, but im just speculating a reason.
The penalty on Cooley with 4 min to go, third period, MN up 2-1, was the worse referee call in NCAA Frozen Four history. Everyone on the planet saw both 'should' go the box and then if not, nobody goes. To give a power play that late, under such unquestionable motives, in the NCAA College Hockey Championship, is true proof that the referees control the big games, not the teams and players. That one call, completely politics and rigged, was a giant slap to the state of Minnesota.
Oh please. Minnesota had a phantom PP to start the game, 21 seconds in, which could have completely changed momentum. Did the referees also outshoot you 14-2 in the 3rd? Get over it.
Take out the words "everyone on the planet", and that second sentence would've been fine. That's where Melrose was at with it. It's a defensible position. I still wouldn't agree, but I'd get it. But the rest of this comment is like scoring a blackout on an Insufferable Gopher Hockey Fan bingo card. Just look at this thing. The hyperbole alone is astounding, but we've got an accusation of "political" rigging, we've got an assumption about how "every" hockey fan would view it, we've got a strange insistence that this is somehow a slap in the face of the entire state of Minnesota as if Bulldog, Husky, Maverick, Beaver, and Tommie (and, hell, Sioux and Badger) fans across the state weren't all ecstatic at this call. That's a lot to pack into one comment. There is truly nothing that can compete with the self-induced-victimhood of someone challenging for the title of The Worst Gopher Fan On The Internet. Well... other than other awful Gopher fans on the internet, that is. The rest of us just looked at it and thought "yeah, that could've been both or neither, but Cooley did get his hands and stick up there, so... yeah, I get it". But not this guy!
That’s such a bad take. Only one player had their stick up high on the other. Cooley cleared lost his cool because he missed a wide open look in front. Lipkin did nothing to warrant a penalty

This commentary duo is prime
Commentary was sub-par. Melrose needs to retire. Stop accepting shitty commentating.
Far better than McDonough and Ferraro on the Stanley Cup!

You were down with 3 mins left and tied on a trash goal....and won in OT, so I strongly disagree lol
@@gregpellegrin8713 a deflection is a bad goal? pretty crazy cus qu outshot minnesota 19-1 in that third period. u still mad u still mad?
That last penalty was pretty weak... agruably a hold...
I don't think you make a questionable call like that at the end of the game...
Thats a wild take dude threw him to the ground by the neck 🤣

Had no effect on the game at all and also the hit at the start was clean as fuck

the playoffs should always be played close to where the teams are located.
