Bauch really screwed the pooch. He should not have driven flat out to the front. Not in a relay. He should have stayed behind the american, just as the guys did in 1991. That would have put Black 1 or 2 metres behind in the anchor and he would have kicked ass as he was the silver medalits in the 400.
Great talent GB had back then in the 400, we had Ladejo as well who had run 44.66 that season and could not even get in that team for the final. Now , apart from Hudson Smith who spends more time on the treatment table than on the track we struggle to get any guys running sub 46
@@kevinenglish5460 yes, well my comment was three years ago and was accurate three years ago. Hudson Smith has stayed healthy since then , so we are seeing the best of him. And I’m also glad to say that the state of GB men’s 400 metre running is in a much better shape as well with Dobson, Reardon and Haydock Wilson performing well.
If you notice every American pulled away down the stretch on their leg. Americans run this relay in high school all the way through college and know to never get into a sprint battle too esrly and instead save it for the stretch. Always make sure youve got the most left.
Yeah but it was in America so they wernt gunna do that! MJ false started in the 200 final but they never called it back, hence why his 19.32 was out of this world, well it was cuz it was a cheat lol, just like there lost drug test results from the 88 olympic trials
Hard to think of a faster GB quartet on paper. Iwan Thomas is 2 on all time list and Richardson and Black joint third. Baulch is 10th.

The fact that the Jamaicans fell over and still got a medal is just incredible.
Team GB Good luck in Paris. About time for another 4x400 relay medal!

Hudson Smith European record holder now these lads not on the same level.

A great team always gold in my mind 🥇
Baulch was famous for going out too fast.
Didn't have the brains to save
🇨🇴🇬🇧Beautiful GB uniform!!!
Whenever you have a low moment, just come back here and watch Jamie Baulch flying past Alvin Harrison.
Black has 10 metres to make up but he wasn't going to beat the american who was very strong. They were very happy as they know Bkack was a threat.
Baulch messed it up.
A wee rush of blood to the head but I think GB would just have failed anyway.
Should the USA have been disqualified, as their third leg runner was in front of Richardson, but Baulch was leading at the 200m point.
Get over it.

That rule wasn't implemented yet in 1996!
