This is my island and this is my favourite band! It's like a gift for me!! Thank you Sardinia, thank you Placebo!
aww! your comment made me smile! Long live Placebo!!
:)
Idem.
The Video has been recorded in Sardinia, Italy.
The masks in the video are called "Boes", meaning "bulls".
They are part of the group "Boes e Merdules", from a little village called "Ottana", about 110km north of the Capital.
"The Boes in their long horned wooden masks resembling the head of an oxen, and a striking array of bells of various sizes weighing up to 40kg across their chests. The Merdules, the masters of the bulls, in their twisted, almost horrific expressioned masks, carrying herding sticks and whips to control their Boes. Then there are two additional characters, Sa Filonzana (the weaver woman in black) and Su Porcu, the wild boar."
They represent the struggle between our animal instinct and human reason. At the end of the parade, during the Carnival, the Boes are chased and flogged by the Merdules to finally start the fights.
Anyway, whoever says the song and the video are for teenagers, boring and not good enough, should also read this comment and think about it deeply.
so... the man in the horse is another character? or only the lady flametrhower?
they look like the Bulgarian "kukers=кукери", thank you for sharing the story
What's the difference between Merdules and Mamuthones ?
They're different masks from another village in Sardinia: Mamoiada.
p.s the video is cool!
And the beach is "Scivu" in the south west of the island
Everyone complaining about their "new sound" doesn't realize that most of the music was darker in subject because Brian and the band were younger and most likely dealt with darker subjects within their lives at that time. Brian is now married and has a child, the same references that inspired his lyrics back in the day are most likely no longer going be present in his life now. So why not just embrace the change rather than clinging to subject matter that is a decade + old. Artists are allowed to grow and branch out you know. That's what art is, growth and progression.
Brian is not married, he is a single father, apart from that you are right. :)
Chris Zaghi you haven't got a clue plus he's not married
im complaining for Steve Forrest :(
that idiot left the band, was a great drummer :/
Don't you understand? They want to hear the first album over an d over and over! They are the ones, who discovered Placebo, when they played in front of 3 junkies in a toilet and they are jealous, that their heroes are now shared by those, who just haven't seen the dark and the anger and therefore will never see the light!
I do not understand many reviews complaining that this is a happy song, hahaha
That would be a problem? And this song is happy? I disagree, I feel a certain melancholy in the melody and in Brian's voice. The video is excellent, the drums are amazing, the music is engaging and the more I listen, the more I like it. Congratulations, Placebo!
made me cry ... :'3
It's the songrwriting that sucks, not the fact that it's "happy". Pure Morning was a great happy song, this is just reheated Placebo.
More than 30 years that we’re going each summer in this place in Sardegna. San Salvatore is in our heart and blood and our baby Achille will love it
Bellissima canzone.
It's an amazing song, no doubt! Sounds different? Yes! And that's great! Art does not sound/look the same forever, art changes, music changes, and that's the beauty.
That's true :'3 ❤
I couldn't agree more. This is what 20 years of experience sounds like.
Yes, it's true ;)
It's popy like any of their past 3 albums. Just even more streamlined. I honestly can't believe how could someone say it sounds different.Hopefully Brian realize that singing about the same ol' themes laced with sloppy religious references is getting tiresome. Along with the uninspired instrumentation. 5 musicians on the screen but 15 years ago Placebo with 3 members made more loud, complex and meaningful songs than this. I heard that Brian said that after the tour they would probably work on new material and go more experimental avenues. I hope they follow trough because since Sleeping with ghosts they've been circling around.
I do not understand all the negative comments. From the first chords, we recognize Placebo, and it can do good! Anyway, in my case, it makes me feel good. I love aged Rum that have flavors of leather, caramel and vanilla! Although my education pushes me to discover other aged rums with other taste notes, I always enjoy returning to those I know. Placebo has a musical signature. They may change it, taking the risk of losing a large part of their identity. I do not share the idea that it is the ability to change, to transform whenever you appear, that makes an identity, but rather the ability to evolve over a path through landscapes whose developments are subtle. This is the end of the path, taking up a lot of height, that one can see the diversity of the progress. Regarding the religious references ... Which ones? Jesus? It is probably one of the greatest rebel in history! But when Brian refers to his son ... well, let's say that's easy controversy ;-) I have sources that refer to much more caustic revelations: that of his transsexuality!

Wow! It's great discovering that the Placebo's have filmed their new video in my beautiful homeland, Sardinia!!!
on the beginning the voice said (wrong translation from Sardinian language):
"Custos contos, no ana ora, no ana prinzipiu e mai d'ana aere fine. Sempes, semmos istados" (Sardinian)
"This stories, have no time, no begin and they'll never end. We always have been"
"Queste storie non hanno tempo, non hanno principio e mai avranno una fine. Sempre, siamo stati" (italian)
it's great to see Sardinia and its beautiful language and folklore in this video
The song is related to "Jesus Son", a collection of linked short stories by Denis Johnson. There's a movie too. *flies away*
Thanks!
You sure? "And I feel just like Jesus' son" is a line from The Velvet Underground song "Heroin." There are a lot of references to drug use and NA based recovery in this song.
He's blissful and that's enough for me. The quality is so good and his voice is the best I've heard. I can't believe people's complaining, just keep calm and listen to the guitars!!!!
I'm so so glad to know that you're in a better place mentally and emotionally. I hope you guys keep making music and making my life a happy one. So proud of this song.
I prefer them being honest and true to themselves. If they are happy, let them sing about it. Artists move on, grow up and evolve. Let them be.
Great! Awesome! Amazing! I'm out of words, just a really good song and cool video :) I like the happy vibe, as I suppose it also means the guys are happy privately :)
Disturbing my Ear....
Rideoak you should get in contact with a doctor because you must have some hearing problems
Oh, no... i just LOVE GOOD Music.
And Placebo. Before.
+Rideoak I'm sorry you're stuck in the past, please take your negativity somewhere else and let us enjoy GOOD music.
Muuuuaaaahhhh....
why so much hate? They can't be 20 forever. Grow up, keep going, dare to change. Placebo was, is and will always be a great band.
Brian's voice will always make each song special
Sardinia. Ancient masks and culture. Beautiful video.
wtf mamuthones? those masks are called boes, they depict anthropomorphic oxen, they aren't mamuthones!
+jk2kg no mamuthones, maschere di ottana.
Being in your 20's and broke makes it easy to be depressed I'm just glad they're still around
its never been about money with this group always kept it real this is a good song be good in a movie things change and a think this one catchy track
brian, im so happy to see how far you've come with placebo and with yourself as a person. you guys seem so much happier now, and you're making new music!!! m so proud of you guys wow
I would have to agree entirely. Well said, Mr. Maes :)
tobias .maes Same! I don't get why so much hate because of this "new sound". they can't be 20 forever. And this is incredible
YYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSS 20 YEARS AND HERE COMES A NEW SONG LY
This song fills me with hope
New album is going to be released on my birthday. I think I'm happy for the rest of my life.
Woow lucky man
Best present, huh?^'^
best fucking present dude :)
THANK YOU PLACEBO!!!!
It feels like I grew up with Placebo, when I was depressed as fuck they were just releasing Meds, now I'm in a much happier place and they release this song. Perfect timing! Love this, love the lyrics and the video! I'm also glad you're gonna do more stuff after the tour. Looking forward to it! Much love, a longtime fan from Romania.
I agree, too, it happened the same way for me! I still mostly go back to listen to my favourite albums, which are WYIN and BMM, and I got into Placebo on SWG so that's always in my bones, but I'm so glad for more optimistic songs like this because I can relate now, which I couldn't before, AND what's making me even more excited and still not bored of Placebo is their teasing us about a more experimental new material from now on! I've always loved Placebo because they can go from the darkest songs to upbeat electronic sounds, always experimenting, and I'm so glad to hear that's what we can look forward to after this tour. I hope they don't hold back at all, be different, try anything, I'm sure it'll be amazing as usual.
I totally agree with you !!! I grew up with Placebo too. I'm became more happier, Placebo too... So, Perfect Timing !! :)
yoooo also a fan from Romania!!
I'm from Sardinia. I think it's the most beautiful place in the world!
Well here is what I think about all the complaining. As many of the fans (I don't think of myself as a fan though, the word simply doesn't express what Placebo means to me) I'm not head over heals with the new line either, but can't help my limitless love and unexplainable feelings I have for the whole concept of Brian and Placebo. And as much as many think the band just went commercial, I see it as a new phase of them. I mean, may be he is in fact "okay just like Jesus's son" now (and I hope he is). May be it's not about taking a commercial turn, but about being as real as always? So if they are in rather more positive place now, why shouldn't they spread some positive vibes around?
We can't be static, we develop and evolve. And eventually, everything reaches its peak, climax, the highest point, which can't be repeated after. That was perhaps the period of Black Market Music, Without you I'm nothing, Meds and Sleeping with ghosts we all are whining about. I attended lives of "Loud like love" tour twice last year, it was my first time of Placebo gigs and as much as it was unexplainably powerful given my insane feelings for Placebo, hell yes, I still wished I could see the 2000-2006's Brian on the stage, going all mental, eyes watering, rolling on the floor with the harmonica while performing "Protect me from what I want", throwing down the microphone at the end of enormously painful "My sweet prince", screaming from the top of his lungs performing "Space Monkey", and just being as intense as it ever gets. But, what if he simply doesn't feel that way anymore? Does it change who he is as a person? Does it make all he's created disappear? Could we just be thankful for what he's given us and continue loving and supporting him?
All that stuff is in space, within me and I don't mind to see them in a new light. Because there's nothing else to do, EVERY ME and EVERY YOU, my killer and my lover. Thank you for everything.
whoaaa! i think that your comment is great! you put into words what i've always thought about Placebo. I was desperate looking for a positive comment 'cause it make me so sad that a lot of people can't understand this particular band and their particular beauty.
Couldn't agree more. Yes this song doesn't give me shivers and I'm not like 'wow gonna play this thousand times on repeat' BUT still I have this strange feelings about this band and hey, Brians voice is like drugs to my ears :)
I have grown up with them listening to their music for about 16 years now, they have inspired me, they've been a massive part of my life so I just accept that they just like any other band have to change. Yes I like my music dark and depressive, but if this is how they feel, so be it. I still have old songs, wrapped in memories, and I'll be fine even if there's only one WOW song(for me) in their upcoming album. I will still appreciate their work even if it is not my favourite.
Yes maybe I feel a bit dissapointed or sad that they are moving away from dark and depressive to happy and poppy BUT that is very egoistic thinking 'why can't they play music that I like more???!' They play what they feel like playing and as I just said - so be it :)
You're so right! Cheers for you. I feel the same way.
trueee! i think this is the opposite of being a 'sell-out'. like, they already have an audience they know likes darker stuff so doing what they are doing now is more a risk rather than trying to get more popular. I think they have changed and they can't keep playing and singing about stuff they don't relate anymore.... what would you think if you saw a band singing about drugs when you know they don't do drugs? now THAT would be them trying to sell something they are not....
and this has been happening since way before... ive seen people hating on this for not being their old selves but saying they like loud like love?.... tbh to me loud like love souds just like this.... maybe not as happy but still nothing like the old placebo....
and seriously, all their albums are different?? why do you get mad now? its ok to like the old placebo and hate these new songs... but you can just go back to the ones you like and ignore this!! its not that hard!! just dont blame it on them. is not their fault you dont like it....
If people watched this comment before puting their hate on the band it would change a lot of minds.
It's okay if people don't like this song. But if it's too positive, that's because the band is in a much better place than before. And that, as a fan, makes me very happy. It sounds like something from BFTS, where everybody was hating on them because of the "positivity" and "simplicity" of the lyrics. I think it's great to grow and change. I love this band with my whole heart and even when I enjoy their previous stuff, this kind of songs give me hope.
Unici
Sardinia...Awesome song and video...with my father and his white horse :D
Good choice Placebo!
I'm so glad they're playing their old stuff on their tour :D
I will always love them and who never heard them live can't imagine the pure energy. They are still one of the best rock acts of the last years. Keep on rockin'...
Right now, after reading all the negative comments on this, I feel so much more passionate about it :))))))
ESPECTACULAR.
Come to Greece!!!
Wow! What a nice song. Placebo forever!
they are back with fire... love it
I already love it!
with love from Russia ♥
I love every second of the song, every second of the video.
I was so surprised, when I read the comments about this song being bad. I absolutely love it, just as I love almost all of their songs.
I'm seeing Placebo live soon for the big anniversary, they've always been one of my favourite bands. Loud Like Love is fantastic and is technically and compositionally, one of their best albums to date I think. This particular track doesn't do much for me, but I appreciate their music and that they are a talented band of musicians just doing what they love.
every placebo song has "different moment to enjoy".. this song makes me fly which i imagine trip to another journey..
your still rock guys.. placebo indofans
You can’t imagine how much you help me when I’m feeling bad. I love you💞
Translation from the sardinian language at the beginning of this video is not correct. "Custos contos no hana ora, no han printizpiu e mai tene e' aere fine. Sempere semus istados”: "These stories have no time, have no beginning and will never end. We have always been".
Amazing song, love you guys so much!
One of the best bands i've ever seen live. The atmosphere was just electric.
Oh my goodness I love Placebo. I love each song of them. I can't get them out of my head..... Yeah I'm so excited for the new released album!!

I LOVE IT! 😍
If they’re happy, so am I! Love your music no matter what!
PlaceboVEVO has only 77k subscribers?? Come on. They aint that bad. I loved Placebo all my life. This song reminds me of a few new and old songs I thought bad of. But the taste to these kinds of songs come later with the right moment. You will not like Jesus' son now, but there will be a moment in your life when you feel its the time to turn this particular one on.
Bellissima musica, bei testi, voce straordinaria, scenari straordinari

Guys.... a suggestion for everyone..... enjoy the song, enjoy this video..... there will be more songs of placebo, this song is just a step, they're still walking, remember.....
супер super!))))
I think Placebo is an amazing band. Great melodies, very good videos. They became happy. When I was younger I liked punk. Now I am a little bit older and I like calm, not that loud music. I think the fans miss that innocent, quiet, calm songs. Apart from that the positive lyrics, the videos, tunes and everything is very okay. WE LOVE YOU PLACEBO!
Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Them!
I think we have to accept that they're not the same. Their songs sounds happier now. And still great! Wainting for the EP, and the 8th album. Keep hypnotizing my ears, Placebo!
New Placebo and Metallica in 1 day. Today is a good day.
