    I totally agree with this list, Plenty of potential with several headaches at the same time. I really think the back 3 axis of Winnet, Grady and Dyer sounds very tasty if they can keep improving. However we're crying out for a couple of world class front rowers

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah good I’m glad we’re on the same page 😂
      Couldn’t agree more about the front row. Tight head in particular and I worry about 10 aswel 😬

    Morgan, Reffel, Mann, Wainwright, Faletau.. What a great problem to have. Second row and Hooker is more tricky. Dee has been so much better than Elias this year. At half backs our decision making has been naïve. I'm a Gareth Davies fan but Tomos Williams has been so much better in recent games. Outside half is not decided imo. On the wings Adams and Dyer never get the ball so the forwards just engage in a war of attrition until the ball is lost. North has shone over the last few games. I don't think we're far off being a great team but we need a few leaders to get to thst point. I'm optimistic after the disappointment of the inevitable loss of lots of senior players

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah North has been brilliant I agree. Yeah not really understanding why we don’t seam to go for 3 point anymore. I think we would benefit from putting some scoreboard pressure at times.
      Yeah Dee and Lake will be a good combo and the back row looks good as you said. I think the 2nd row is a position of depth tbh I just like you worry about 10 😬

    Just a question really unrelated to the video, but do you think Talupe Faletau will put the Welsh Jersey on again after that injury? Especially with gats trying to build a young squad.

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  7 месяцев назад

      Good question. Umm my instinct says yes as I still think he has the quality to offer something to this team and help the young back row guys. It all boils down to if his body lets him. He’s had a long tough career and he’s got a lot of bad injuries lately but I think we will see him back at some point. What’s your thoughts?

    Nice breakdown, my first player on the good list is Cameron Winnett he has been fantastic for Wales and on the biggest stage played his best against Ireland, he is a player that has taken to International rugby and will be fullback for years, the downside is just watch the big spending clubs start knocking on Cardiff's door, I hope to god Cardiff keep hold of him.
    My next mention is Dafydd Jenkins, works his socks off and I like the things he 's says in regard of not wanting to be plucky losers, you can tell he is going to drive and demand better from those around him the captaincy has not weighed heavy on him and I can see him turning into a world class player.
    Elliot Dee is now first choice hooker even when lake comes back the lineout functions so well with him plus his work around the park, its going to be very intriguing when Morgan and Taulupe return from Injury, now a backrow of Morgan 7 Taulupe at 8 and Wainwright 6 is a world class backrow, it will be hard on Mann and in particular Tommy was has been player of the six nations for Wales but Tommy will have to drop to the bench, Morgan at 6 won't work its been tried and the balance is wrong, I still think Jac is a better 7.
    Moving on to Mr Mason he must start on the wing, you can tell he's trying to hard when he comes on so Gats must give him a chance that will take the pressure off him a good 80 mins and he could remove Adams as first choice, Josh is a shadow of himself and is playing well below his best.
    lastly a player who needs a start Ioan Lloyd either replaces Costelow or could we see him replace Tomkins as a inside center, Tomkins North is not working and we need a player to free up North its not good him having 6 players on him, put him into the gap and we'll have go forward ball.
    I hope there are changes made in the weak areas of Wales game, one area of concern is scrum last week we got smashed although the Irish loose head was driving across, but maybe Brown comes back but its still an area of concern, and France pack is enormous we must hold our own next Sunday to get our attacking game moving otherwise its plucky losers once more, scrum and lineout still remain crucial factors and we must get them sorted.

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah I didn’t do them in any particular order to be honest. I just wanted to highlight which individuals impressed me.
      Yeah I agree with basically everything you said Jenkins has the potential to be a real superstar, but I still think he has some stuff to learn but he’s very young so that’s understandable
      Agreed Mason needs game time. We know what we have and Josh Adams now there’s no benefit to just keeping radio on the bench in my opinion. I disagree about Lloyd, though, I just don’t see him as an international outside half and I think Costello needs time to grow into the position.
      I think if we can get parity upfront and give us back some opportunities I would say the France game is a 50-50 either way. Let’s hope we get a result that we desperately need and deserve 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    Certainly feels like we have a bright future ahead of us. Despite losing the first 3 games and a bashing at the hands of Ireland (which I and probably everyone else suspected was going to happen) we've shown a lot of fight and a lot of promise. It genuinely feels like these lads will come good by 2027. Hard to disagree with anyone you put on either list but for me Winnett should've been our number 1 winner. The fact he had 5 caps for Cardiff and has been so good for us is a sign of how excellent he's destined to become. I also feel like Rio Dyer deserves a mention. Up until this six nations he'd been pretty rudderless IMO but in the 3 games so far he's looked like a man on mission.
    For me there have been 3 proper downsides to this SN so far and you hit on all them: the continued debacles around the lineout, the lack of a solid number 10 - Biggar was such a good general and we miss a leading voice like that in a young team - and the fact that Josh Adams has been pretty poor. He was a rock in the shaky Pivac years but he's been such a non factor in attack so far. I hope he picks it back up again because when he plays well there are few better on the wing.

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah I didn’t really put them in any particular order. I just pick the five I thought deserved at the most. And yeah you are right Rio and Wainwright were close to being picked.
      Yes, I think that if Biggar was still around, we probably would’ve won the Scotland and England games, but I guess that’s just where we are at the moment. Let’s hope these young players come good in a year or two🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    Hi Christian, A good honest review on who's in and out ,but my player at the moment who is doing well is Cameron Winnet, far as i'm concerned he has got a good future the Wales team and I think he could be picked for the Barbarians in my opinion. Rio Dyer , Tomas Williams, Mason Grady, George North, Tommy Raffel and Aaron Wainwright have played a good 6N so far. For me it's Ryan Elias who has not done it for me, over throwing at line out. I think Gareth Davies we still need I still think there is a lot more in him and the same for Josh Adams, the only problem is with Josh he has been picked when he is not 100% or recovering an injury. But as I said before we are a new team just give them a year or two, when the other nations are getting older our boy's will be in there prime and then start winning again, our time will come again and it will, Warren Gatland did this in 2008 , 2012, 2013 ,2019 and the world cups especially 2019 in Japan and the one for me is the 2018 Autumn Internationals, betting all four games. And Warren will do this again but not this year. As always like your reviews, catch you soon Take care mate

      Ah thanks Shaun
      Yeah, Diane Wainwright almost made my list, but I feel there was some other players that deserved it more.
      Really hope Adams recovers from whatever injury. He is carrying at the moment because he’s not the same player that he has been in the past for Wales.
      Thanks as ever mate. Catch you on the next one

    Saw a stat the other day that wales havent attempted a penalty at goal since the world cup.
    Anyway, i think the side is pretty good, the more they play together the better theyll get. England and Scotland were definitely games we threw away, if wed taken our chances to kick goals against ireland the game would have been very different (in my opinion).
    Id like to see Grady get a real chance too.

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, I saw that one too. Also in 6 halves of rugby, we haven’t scored a single point in three of them. I don’t really understand this idea of not going to the posts at all
      In the previous three games taking the points on offer might of caused a bit more pressure on the opposition and kept us in the games

    Wale problems are there is to many small players , you can't have a team with Morgan and refel in it we'd get murdered in the breakdown , if we're going to play one of them we need a big 6 to balance it out

    Morgan & Reffell started to gether against Argentina a few months back. The combo looked a bit lightweight against what was a beefy pack and back row for Argentina. One game is not conclusive and that's not to say it wouldn't work against a less physical pack.

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  7 месяцев назад

      Yes I agree about the physicality. Maybe if we had Faletto at eight or some bigger carriers in the front row then we might get away with it. But it is something I would like to see tried again in the future🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    I believe that Jack Morgan and , obviously, Zammet have been a massive loss. Raf is a game changer. Tomos Williams no question. I think that the option for captain is questionable... give it to Tomos. There's a great base for the future, when Shaun Edwards takes over 😉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    • @Sourdust
      @Sourdust 7 месяцев назад +2

      I'm a massive Adams fan too but I think he needs a rest. There's a lot of "niggle" in his game now - and not the positive sort - that suggests a player who isn't happy. Defence still very solid but he just isn't bringing enough now to justify leaving the next generation on the bench or out altogether.

    • @TheWelshSportsPodcast
      @TheWelshSportsPodcast  7 месяцев назад +2

      Couldn’t agree more, like you said, I think it’s fallen out of frustration as he’s not able to do the things he usually does. Let’s hope a rest gets him back to full fitness as I think he’s still got something to offer
