Please interview Padma Bhushan KS Chithra ma'am. She's 6 National Awards. Highest record for a female artist. All South Indian State Awards. She's the first Indian artist to be recognised by Chinese Government. She used to record 20 songs a day. The highest number of songs for AR Rahman, Ilayaraja, MM Keeravani, SP Balasubramaniam. She's sung more than 25,000 songs. A living legend who conquered all industries!!
I'm surprised Raja Hindustani wasn't brought up in conversation, when Alka herself has said Pucho Zara Pucho is her absolute favourite song that she has sung. Agar Tum Saath Ho is of course legendary, but Raja Hindustani is quintessential Alka Yagnik. The range of that album uses Alka to her full potential, its one of my absolute favourites.
She had an incomparable and unmatched voice in her peak years (1988-2005). Super melodies voice 🔥 with unique and excellent tonal quality 😍 which suit on almost every actress that's why she was the first choice of every music composer that time. She has perfect female playback voice. Almost all her songs are just iconic and evergreen. Even after decades her voice still has a great impact on people. Bollywood will never get another Alka yagnik 😍 it's a fact
Right She had the best voice in the world. She was the most melodious singer even till 2008 . But unfortunately she has not got any padma awards till now .

Alka ji's voice is love. ❤ The Guiness World Record does not take into account the billions of offline Alka Yagnik streams we daily listen to because we have a collection of her songs. Add other streaming platforms, TV, radio et al. That would easily add another 10-15 billion to the tally. 😍
What a legend. What a career she has. I have no clue about songs and singers today but her songs, her duets with Udit or Kumar Sanu are so awesome. Thanks for the interview.
What a fabulous interview of Legend Alka Yagnik… so successful yet so humble. One of my favourite Alka yagnik song is Humne tumko dil ye de diya, also Aapke Pyaar Mein, Mann tera Mera Mann, Taal Pe jab yeh zindagani, dil dil dil yeh dil, haare Haare hum toh dil se haara n it’s a long list it will never end…. 💕💕💕💕
I had goosebumps listening to this interview. Anupama’s line “It’s not the love you sung about” will stay with me. It’s true and saddening at the same time to know that we belong to the generation that cannot love like in the 90s.
While this is very true, and I feel all of it. It is also true that the 60's generation felt the same way about the majority of 90's songs... they were much different to the previous era. Life goes on, we evolve, relationships evolve... just the way it goes...
My Top 10 songs are:- 1. Aisa q hota hein bar bar 2.Sine mein dil dil mein dhadkan 3.Aisa lagta hein 4.Pyar k liye 5.Chupke se kohe aayega 6.Tune zindagi mein aake 7.Hum ne tumko dil de diya 8.Jo v kasam mein khai thi humne 9.Sajan sajan 10.Aakh hein bhari bhari..... #Huge respect with deep love Alka madam From Nepal 🇳🇵

If you think about it this is very much expected. Despite the 100 million views in 24 hours kind of claims most film music today is not memorable. It's widely said that today film music is bad. Given that, it's expected that people will listen to the older songs.
She has sung so many songs and most of them are popular and most of them are actually good, So not a shocker that Alka, Udit Narayan Kumar Sanu and Sonu Nigams songs are still listened by people,
Alka is a few years younger than me but we were raised around a similar environment in Calcutta, same neighbourhood, whole bunch of kids and cousins whose parents ( mainly mothers who were friends) - easy, grounded lifestyle in the late 60's and 70's. We all went to privileged schools ( but we didn't know that then) but no big deal was made out of anything. She was very talented as a young girl and her mother was ambitious for her but in a very normal, supportive way - this is the reason she is unassuming and humble. If one's foundations are firm then nothing shakes you - success or failure.

This interview was like a breadth of fresh air. Please interview another Legend - KAVITA KRISHNAMURTHY. She was a force to reckon with and equally popular, and gave stiff competition to Alka Yagnik during the 90s.
As a 90s kid born & raised in the southern part of India and who only used to hear Hindi songs occasionally Alka Yagnik Ji's voice became a sort of quintessential North Indian voice in my head even when I didn't have the mental capability to understand what playback singing was. Her voice encompassed the entirety of Hindi film music of my childhood and that in itself is a testament to her legacy. I have heard all her iconic songs much later in my life & Alka Ji romance songs and her duets with Udit ji & Kumar Sanu ji will live on forever. Kudos to Anupama Chopra for doing what she does the best.
Great to hear about kishore kumar.. Alka ji is so lucky to work with him.. Kaash ye or bhi bataye dada k baare mai.. Kyoki kishore da k baare mai jitna bhi sunte hai face par smile aur unke personality k baare mai jaane ko jitna milta hai kam hai...
She is the one and only melody queen after Lata mangeshkar and Asha bhonsle.her voice defines melody.. her voice teaches how to fall in love, her voice teaches how to love wholeheartedly..
She is the default female voice in Bollywood... I've never heard any female voice better than that of her in the entire world... Her voice sounds like a default voice for every female I don't know why... As sweet as honey... Nightingale... I don't know how to praise her voice ... I am like the biggest fan of hers 💙
It’s true, the catchy music can entertain the audience for a little while but it cannot replace the soulful music. Never in million years!!! Tremendous respect for Alka ji
I grew up with Alka mam's songs. For me, there was no one whose voice was sweeter! Her voice fit in every single scenario, with every single heroine. Barring of course Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle in their prime. I had these feelings way back in the late 1990s-early 2000s and they haven't changed one bit over the years. ❤
It's unbelievably remarkable that after passing off so many years she still vividly remembers all the studios where the takes have had happened!! Also my favourate is 'Pyar ke liye' which is still a bit underrated..💟🎵
For me there is a clear trajectory of female playback singers for each generation where the divine voice flows 1. Lata Mangeshkar 2. Alka Yagnik 3. Shreya Ghoshal
I just have one answer to Alkaji's question on "Kaun sunta hai, kaun pasand karta hai" Hum nahin karte ma'am. We still prefer to listen to songs from those years when you along with Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu and Sonu Nigam were singing together. We still prefer to remain in that era.
I love Alka Ji. I remember I used to sometimes buy albums (cassette) even without having any idea of the music, only because I could see max songs in the album were by Alka ji. That's how I judged music sometimes. It's difficult to quote one favourite song of her. My entire playlist is filled with maximum of her renditions. I hope see sings more songs. May god bless her and her voice.
So good to the Melody Queen Alka Yagnik Ji. Seriously there's no one like her, for me has the best playback voice. I don't think there is a single day when I don't hear her song, if not in my phone then I get to hear somewhere else. She's a living legend.
Alka ji, to the 80s and 90s kids, you are an emotion. Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Alka ji, Kavita ji, and Sonu Nigham helped us express love as it should be. Melody Queen! What a privilege listening to you has been. Love from across the border.
Her Songs which are my favourite: 1. Tumse milna, baatein karna (Tere Naam) 2. Itna me chahu tujhe, koi kisi ko na chahe 3. Aaye ho meri zindagi me tum bahar banke 4. Apke pyaar me, hum pighalne lage 5. Chura ke dil mera 6. Kuch Kuch hota hai 7. Jo bhi kasmein khaayi thi hamne 8. Agar tum sath ho 9. Tumhi dekho na, ye kya ho gya 10. Chaand chhupa badal me kitne bataau yaar.. inhone to 20K se jyada songs gaaye hain
Her voice is like silk. I am one of those people who listen to her songs. Us 90s kids miss that time. Music today is shit. So of course we find solace with singers like Alka Yagnik.
Alkaji is my soul ❤️she is my Everything ,Her voice given me second birth this life of mine is gift given by Alkaji I love you alkaji till my heart beats💓
Alka is and was always great for sure - however 90s ppl would know that luck also played a major role in her success. The fall of Anuradha Paudwal from the top due to her personnel issues and some of the mistakes she did were some of the reasons Alka zoomed so much ahead of the competitors. From 89 to 91, Anuradha was miles ahead of Alka in terms of popularity and hit songs and at that time Anuradha had many issues and she took some bold steps which affected her run. ( pls note : this is not saying bad about Alka - she deserved her success - but what Ive said is also true )
@@starsimvidz thats more like a personnel view which of course I do respect. However there were many popular music directors also who agreed that had Anuradha not taken those moves, it would have been tough for Alka to achieve all those success even if her voice was perfect. Sadhna Sargam also had a very nice voice but she also could not achieve that kind of success. In the early 90s Anuradha's songs had lots of magic - I do agree, her later songs ( which she did after her come back ) did not have the same magic hence she could not really make a mark in the second phase
Alka yagnik😍😍 she is just amazing... I am the biggest admirer of Alka yagnik... She is just irreplaceable..... Sung super hits more than today's singer sing their whole life...... She has super duper hits in all Journers...... Incredible outstanding 😍😍 .... Deserves Bharat ratn
What a lovely interview of lovely Alka Yagnik, she is so honest, pure, and truly gifted. I am very surprised to know that if we listen to interviews of Lataji, Ashaji , Alkaji etc of those years, they even remember where they had recorded a particular song. Wow!! What an amazing talented bunch they were, along with lyricists, music directors etc. I met Pyarelalji 5 years back and he is so so down to earth. Truly these people are highly inspiring, the youth should learn from them.
Aye ho meri zindagi main, Tum sa koi pyaara, Ghunghat ki aar se, Baadlon main chup raha hai, Gali main aaj Chand nikla.... Alka Yagnik is that soulful voice that gave some amazing lyrics new life. An absolute legend.
Alka Yagnik is all time no 1 female singer of Bollywood.. She is the Queen of melody.. No other female singer in this world has beautiful and melodious voice like Alka Yagnik.. No one can beat her and no one can compare her with anyone.. Alka didi ki gaane jitni khoobsurat hai woh dekhne mein bhi utni hi khoobsurat hai
She's sang Ek do teen and Ghoonghat ki aad se equally beautifully, it's rare to find female singers with such versatility these days only Sunidhi and Shreya are the last such female singers I think
My favorites: "Gali me aaj chand", "Tum aaye", "O ri chori", "Pyaar ke liye", "Suraj hua madhyam", "Kuch kuch hota hai", "Baazigar", "Dil ye bechain ve (Taal)" and many more..
Alka Jee.. Please sing for Kriti, Sharda, Alia, Sara and Janvi and for many other actresses.. You can bring back the Melodious Era of Indian film music..
Every time Alkaji’s concert happens in my city or even other states around me in USA, I make sure I experience & enjoy it… I travel for her bcoz what a treat it is to hear her live! What a haseen personality Mashallah! ❤️🙏🏼🌹 Rabb inko hamesha Shaad Aabaad rakhay Ameen! Film Companion Aap ka behadh Shukriya! 🤗🥰😘 Jiyo Meri Jaan!
She is the playback singer for all the great actresses and also her songs are associated with your good memories. I feel sad when I see Bollywood is changing in a bad way forgetting its legacy.
Not yet finished watching the entire show but this is so amazing to know about our music industry through a LEGEND like ALKA! We (at least I have) had enough of movies and their acting stories but this is something I really liked. Thanks Anupama for this one :)
Without Good Music Director's Singer Is Nothing. In 90s there were lot of good music directors like __ Nadeem Shravan. Anu Malik. Jatin Lalit. Dilip sen Sameer Sen. Aadesh Shrivastava. Anand Raaj Anand. Bappi Lahiri. Anand Milind Etc.... 👍
Wowww... thank you so much for this interview... big fan of alka yagnik ji and we really want to listen her songs only and want to see her beautiful face always... we love you alka ji... gali me aaj chand nikla and every song is fvrt🥰🥰🥰
Alka ma'am is always a thread which makes songs complete. Perfect example is agar tum saath ho by AR Rahman sir . Arijit Singh makes the song great but alka ma'am makes that song complete.
It took a genius book world record to bring her here ..the question is what would it take to bring Udit,Sanu, Kavita, sadhna sargam,Sonu Nigam, shaan, abhijeet (yes even him) to bring to such a podium
late 80's , "90'S" and early 2k's..her voice ruled the Hindi film music songs...it's not that music lost its soul..but people's taste, mindset, quest of new changes..social media play in music...OUR MINDS ARE CONFUSED etc.,
No doubt, we really remember every word and tune of 90's songs... they are the most rememberable and extremely melody-based, particularly owing to Nadeem-Shravan and Anu Malik ❤

And the best part is Anupama is letting Alka complete her story. Most of the host keeps interrupting otherwise .

By the way, love way Alka was given time to think about stuff and answer them in her own time
This was so unexpected and congratulations to her on receiving this epithet. It’s what the fans deserve. My favourite has to be ‘Deewana Hai Dekho’.

What an amazing talented bunch they were, along with lyricists, music directors etc. I met Pyarelalji 5 years back and he is so so down to earth. Truly these people are highly inspiring, the youth should learn from them.
Aye ho meri zindagi main,
Tum sa koi pyaara,
Ghunghat ki aar se,
Baadlon main chup raha hai,
Gali main aaj Chand nikla....
Alka Yagnik is that soulful voice that gave some amazing lyrics new life.
An absolute legend.
She is average singer ….. all songs are flat easy song …. People like easy flat songs … otherwise she is average singer
We need more Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan duets. I know there are many many great ones. But wish they would do new ones.
I am a big fan but their voice has gotten old. That freshness is no more, Udit's voice is a bit fresh but even hiis voice isn't the same.
Both of them can’t create the magic voice is got old
In Bangladesh she also No.1 singer on RUclips 2022 list who listen most in Bangladesh n Arijit singh 2nd
Salaam song of her is absolutely breathtaking
Alka mam's voice is just like maa saraswati
Such an important part of my life. A 90s teenager can’t imagine a life without Alka Yagnik 👏❤
Alka ma'am one of best forever ❤️🥰😍
Alka Yagnik is all time no 1 female singer of Bollywood.. She is the Queen of melody.. No other female singer in this world has beautiful and melodious voice like Alka Yagnik.. No one can beat her and no one can compare her with anyone.. Alka didi ki gaane jitni khoobsurat hai woh dekhne mein bhi utni hi khoobsurat hai
Bilkul sahi kaha aapane
Shreya Ghoshal ❤️👑
@@mky6645 chal hatttt
She is my all time favourite singer. I love this woman's voice. There will never be another with such a voice.
She's sang Ek do teen and Ghoonghat ki aad se equally beautifully, it's rare to find female singers with such versatility these days only Sunidhi and Shreya are the last such female singers I think
Ab to acche singer or composer to khatam ho gye he ab sirf do din gane chalte he phir boring lagne lagte he
Wow. Alka R(Y)agni .... sonorous melody she's produced. Love her songa.
My favorites: "Gali me aaj chand", "Tum aaye", "O ri chori", "Pyaar ke liye", "Suraj hua madhyam", "Kuch kuch hota hai", "Baazigar", "Dil ye bechain ve (Taal)" and many more..
👌
LIVING LEGEND..
"भारत का गौरव".....करोड़ों संगीत प्रेमियों की दिल की धड़कन..."मेलोडी क्वीन"... अलका याज्ञनिक....जिनके स्वर कानों में शहद घोल देते हैं।
She is a legendary artist❤
Living legend Alka jee. My always favourite.
Alka Jee.. Please sing for Kriti, Sharda, Alia, Sara and Janvi and for many other actresses.. You can bring back the Melodious Era of Indian film music..
The voice of my youth. Whether she sang with Udit or Kumar, she was always the sugar in the tea 💕
She can match every heroin voice in 90s ... Omg her voice her era omg 💘💘
If you’re sad,her voice will give you that peace and happiness ❤❤
Not yet finished watching the entire show but this is so amazing to know about our music industry through a LEGEND like ALKA!
We (at least I have) had enough of movies and their acting stories but this is something I really liked.
Thanks Anupama for this one :)
aaj bhi har jagah par chahe Gym ho, ghar ho maximum song Alka mam ke hi hote hai. Kahin bhi 10 mein se 7-8 gaane inke hi hote hai.
A true legend.
Sahi baat hai bahut gaane gaye hai inhone
Without Good Music Director's Singer Is Nothing. In 90s there were lot of good music directors like __
Nadeem Shravan.
Anu Malik.
Jatin Lalit.
Dilip sen Sameer Sen.
Aadesh Shrivastava.
Anand Raaj Anand.
Bappi Lahiri.
Anand Milind Etc.... 👍
I agree
Queen of Melody & Queen of Bollywood Music “Alka Yagnik” ji we love you mam ❤
This was a lovely interview and I loved Alka's attitude. She's such a pleasant person who understands the world around her so well.
It's very rare to find this kind of organic conversations these days. Thanks for doing this Film companion 🙏 #MelodyQueen ❤️🔥
Wowww... thank you so much for this interview... big fan of alka yagnik ji and we really want to listen her songs only and want to see her beautiful face always... we love you alka ji... gali me aaj chand nikla and every song is fvrt🥰🥰🥰
Lata mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghoshal ❤️🙏
Every 90s kid fav ❤
She is amazing! Agar tum sath ho.. beautifully sung!
Yes the nineties era songs were where Bollywood shone really! We always end up listening to it every time.
Alka ji 's all songs are my favourite 🕉️🔱🕉️👌👍😊🙏
Alka ma'am is always a thread which makes songs complete. Perfect example is agar tum saath ho by AR Rahman sir . Arijit Singh makes the song great but alka ma'am makes that song complete.
She is living legend ❤️
Alka Yagnik voice just heaven ❤🔥
I remember in one of her interviews she'd said that 'Ek do teen' was her personal favourite. Miss those music directors & live recording sessions.
Had a pleasure of meeting this gem of a person, so mellow n humble. 💖Her songs are mesmerizing. Thank you @FilmCompanion for this interview !!
I love her. Greetings from fan from Balkan area. ☺️
Wow, thank you
It took a genius book world record to bring her here ..the question is what would it take to bring Udit,Sanu, Kavita, sadhna sargam,Sonu Nigam, shaan, abhijeet (yes even him) to bring to such a podium
late 80's , "90'S" and early 2k's..her voice ruled the Hindi film music songs...it's not that music lost its soul..but people's taste, mindset, quest of new changes..social media play in music...OUR MINDS ARE CONFUSED etc.,
No doubt, we really remember every word and tune of 90's songs... they are the most rememberable and extremely melody-based, particularly owing to Nadeem-Shravan and Anu Malik ❤
