the whole movie shows us that Alexander hates his role as the campy doctor Lazuras his catch phrase sickens him and he sees it as cheesy poorly written dribble unfit for a theatrically trained actor as himself... but when the thermian who idolized him is dying in his arms it becomes the most poignant thing to say nd he delivers it with every ounce of heartfelt effect..
it is the most bittersweet moment that truly shows his character..

Black Dynamite (2009) for blaxploitation films, Young Frankenstein (1974) for 1930s Frankenstein movies, The Big Bus (1976) for all-star disaster movies and Galaxy Quest (1999) are such parody movies that respect the movies they parody. Westerns have both Blazing Saddles (1974) and Rustler's Rhapsody (1985). There are plenty others missing from this list but each of these stand head and tails above "parodies" like the late 2000's Disaster Movie, Epic Movie and Meet The Spartans where the entire movie is made up of pop culture references and dance offs.

I don't know if it is still up here, but I once saw a video of the transporter accident in "Star Trek - The Motion picture" with some editing and overdub. When Kirk asks the Starbase: "Starfleet - do you have them?" They left in the part "Enterprise... What we got back didn't live long" and then they dubbed in, as a backround voice through the com system, the guy from Galaxy quest "It turned inside out. And it exploded!" The cut to Kirks face made it really hillarious then. 😄

I think fans of the 1960's Star Trek get another layer out of this. There was always said to be arguments between actors over certain things and in reality I think everyone has faults in some things, so people will argue no matter what. But for Star Trek fans, they could see the poking of fun at the actors drama off-screen. I kind of liked it because it gave a sci-fi movie a very real sense of the characters being actual people.
I really did love the concept that the aliens did not understand the concept of 'TV entertainment.' You have to wonder, if an alien species did see broadcasts from Earth with the news mixed in with the fantasy of soaps, movies and adverts, it would seriously confuse them without a frame of reference to understand what is real and what is performance.
The cast was great and I liked the fact that they drew from a mix of veteran sci-fi actors mixed with people who are not known for acting in the genre. Sarris' actor had been in Babylon 5, Star Trek Voyager and Mass Effect. Sigourney Weaver is one of the definitive sci-fi faces, simply from Alien. Sam Rockwell had never really been in sci-fi before this, but it lead into him being in one of the most interesting sci-fi movies I have ever seen, 'Moon'. Then you have Alan Rickman who only ever really did anything space sci-fi in this movie. The same can be said for Tim Allen, unless you count Buzz Lightyear in the genre. So yeah, loved the cast.
Galaxy Quest for me was a great one-and-done movie that commented on science fiction from fans, non-fans and actors points of view. It was a really interesting self-contained movie. I hope they never revisit it or remake it because it worked and said what it needed to say.

"If you go to a convention you're supposed to like it, no?"
Yes, but that doesn't mean you like all the actors equally, or that you don't recognize their faults. Some actors are notorious for their enormous egos, and that's who Tim Allen is playing.

At first I was wondering if you were asking what "Alka-Seltzer," was. "Plop-Plop, fizz-fizz oh what a relief it is.... (it's an old American antacid you drop in water)." Anyway loved your reaction, this is a great movie. It starts out silly but does have some wonderful heart felt moments like when Dr. Lazarus give his line toward the last to the dying crew member who idolized him, he realize that what he said actually had meaning and for the first time he felt it. Can't wait for your next reaction....Have a great evening, day, whatever....Stay safe.

I wonder if she was able to recognize Sam Rockwell in this, since he was quite a bit younger in this than he is in Jojo Rabbit. 🤔

My late aunt was a lifelong Trekkie, grew up on the Original Series. She *loved* this movie.
2009 Star Trek not so much....she hated that they messed with the timeline and blew up Vulcan.

It's... 'affectionate satire'--it pokes fun at celebrity, fandom, the 'divide' between TV series acting and stage acting, and so much more.
I've never thought much of Tim Allen, as a person, a 'comedian' or as an actor, but in this movie, while IMHO just playing himself a lot, he also genuinely 'acted' too---I give him credit for that.
The screenplay and script are just brilliant, and Tim Allen doing a very good job in his role IMHO helped the 'real actors 'of this cast --Sigounrey Weaver, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell, and Tony Shaloub ( and the supporting actors were all great too). This movie could have been an embarrassment for all, and just a pay-check between more significant 'gigs', but IMHO it's as close to a 'perfect' movie of its type that you can find.

The best part about this movie is that it's satirizing not only Star Trek as a TV show, but also the real life relationships of the cast. Pretty much the entire cast of Star Trek can't stand William Shatner (who plays Kirk in the original series). Almost all of them at one point or another we're not on speaking terms with him mainly because of his gigantic ego, and constantly demanding the spotlight at the expense of his fellow cast members.

Hi there, I thought I’d add my thanks for ur quirky movie reviews which I’m very much enjoying. Little me also my condolences with regards to Bernini. Ive really been enjoying seeing the cats making occaisional appearances, however B was nearly always in the background kneeling her bed or dozing quite fitfully. I’ve also lost a loved puss or two over the years. Never an easy time losing such a dearly loved member of the family. It just sucks 🥺

Awesome reaction video. This movie did moderately well at the theaters but it became a cult classic. Everyone wanted a sequel. As of Jan this year Tim Allen says that the Galaxy Quest 2 script is fabulous but because of Allan Rickman (Dr. Lazarus) passed away that the movie would've been around those two characters... right now it's in a holding pattern. Personally I don't think it will happen.

I hope they'll continue with a full-as-possible ensemble. This one brought in an unStarTrekian Sam Rockwell and the 'alien babe', so why not install another character or two. Of course, there have been other Vulcan characters in the Star Treks so maybe we've have that species represented again. But I'd be disappointed to hear this is a Tim & Sig Show. Good writing solves all, though...

18:00 Something funny that not a lot of people notice on first viewing is that while we clearly hear Gwen saying "Well, screw that", her lips don't match what she's saying. That's because Sigourney Weaver had to dub over her own dialogue after the decision was made to tone down the profanity in the film.

Sigourney Weaver’s wardrobe alteration at the end takes my breath away. So taken was I, that i decided to investigate. In a scene they left out, Gwen tries to distract a couple of bad guys by unzipping her uniform top. It’s a well known science fiction fact that all intelligent life in the universe (and some not so intelligent) are physically attracted to earth girls.
