An interesting basement traction machine room, I've never seen one with the deflector sheaves mounted on the ceiling above the machine. Of one basement traction elevator I saw the sheaves were above the hoist way with 1:1 roping.

I ever seen someone's photos these elevators is actually 2:1 roping with under slung mechanism like present day MRL elevators
