Now that's what I call a goddess,,, Love her voice, her face, her hair, her style... Every single thing about her was fabulous. Peggy Lee IS the best. She was just incredible. I'm kind of a brand new fan of hers, and am trying to get as many of her albums on CD as I can. Unfortunately, most of them are now out of print or very expensive. However, she's totally worthwhile, and I'm slowly buying everything I can find.
Peggy had it all: - the talent, the gorgeous Scandinavian/American blonde looks, classy, both "hot & cool", the longevity (6 decades), the popularity (incl. Britain & the Royals; she loved performing in England & Scotland). She had some serious health problems too, but performed superbly in spite of it. Thanks to You Tube for the fine music videos of this great lady whom I never had a chance to see perform in person but have loved for nearly 5 decades. Thank you dear Peggy in Heaven.
Listening to Peggy today. Appreciate your channel. After all these years still think that Mae West and Peggy were very close friends at a point of their lives.
Glad you're enjoying Peggy ! A lot of her albums are still available . Those that aren't are often on Ebay . The record companies often reissue her albums , too ..every few years . Have a look on the Peggy Lee website . Best Wishes , Gareth.
Hi Kaly94, Really glad you enjoyed this . She's 62 here , and still in good voice . The original 60's version is fully digitalised on CD now , though !! Gareth .
I can wash out forty four pairs of socks And have 'em on the line I can starch and iron two dozen shirts 'Fore you can count from one to nine I can slip up a great big dip up of lard From a drippings can Throw it in the skillet, do my shopping Be back before it melts in the pan 'Cause I'm a woman W O M A N I'll say it again I can rub and scrub 'Til this house shinin' like a dime Feed the baby, grease the car Powder my face at the same time Get all dressed up Go out swing 'til 4 a.m. and then Lay down at 5, jump up at 6 And start all over again 'Cause I'm a woman W O M A N I'll say it again If you come to me sickly You know I'm gonna make you well If you come to me all hexed up You know I'm gonna break the spell If you come to me hungry You know I'm gonna fill you full of grits If it's lovin you're likin' I'll kiss you and give you the shiverin' fits 'Cause I'm a woman W O M A N I'll say it again I got a twenty dollar gold piece Says there ain't nothing I can't do I can make a dress out of a feed bag And I can make a man out of you 'Cause I'm a woman W O M A N I'll say it again 'Cause I'm a woman W O M A N And that's all
LOL!! No worries ...everone has different tastes . With this clip , though , Peggy Lee is in her 60's , so this isn't really the "original" ...which was much more firey . The original was a huge hit back in 1963 .
This is fantastic, I did see the show at the time,,where could I get to see it again? I cannot find it on youtube, is there anyone who knows where, or can help me??? best music ever....
This is where all you black women out there have a real advantage: take Dame Shirley for example ! She's way over 70, and she still looks great with either no or minimal surgical tricks ! More ? Well, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Evelyn "C" King, and (no I know she's not that old yet) - SADE.
Witney Houston surpassed Dolly Partons amazingly tender and sensitive original ???? Melinda Doolittle surpassed the great Peggy Lee ??? Oh my goodness !!! Well , I guess it's good that we don't all sharte the same "taste ".
Yes, you're right , but she also had a really bad facial paralysis at this time and needed some drastic surgery to pull up the right side of her face ...which was drooping .Hence the rather rigid look. She was plagued with health problems from the early 70's.
I take your point ...but you're a little unfair . She had a bad Bells Palsy .,..so the right side of her face is paralysed here , and is pulled up by plastic surgery . Hence Peggys appearance .
+StagPreston If this is actually from 1981, and it does look like 1981 Peggy, she's 61, not terribly old, and long before her stroke. When I said altered I meant surgery.
Someone else here mentioned that she had Bells Palsey at some point. It may be surgery. It looks like too much makeup to me, as compared to what some of the older ladies look like these days, like Kim Novak and a bunch of them.
Two years before this , she had a Bells Palsy , which didn't fully recover . She needed plastic surgery to lessen the effects . At Eound this time , also , I believe she had the first of several mini strokes .
Gareth Miller Jackie Gleason admitted to having eye lift surgery because his sagging lids made it hard to read his scripts. This was dismissed then as hogwash; he just wanted to look better. Going to school, it was hard to find a girl who didn't have a car or horseback accident that required a nose job. See what I mean? Unless a recent bio of Peggy is lying, she underwent several cosmetic surgeries and I doubt some or even any of them were to address physical ailments. That said, I'm a big Peggy fan. The longer she's gone, the worse our so-called talent is now, the more I miss her.
She doesn't have a sincere smile. She smiles with only her mouth and it's only stretched sideways, not even up to the corner. She drugged up or something?
NO ONE pulls of THE BEST IS YET TO COME as well as Miss Lee does. I can listen to her sing it over and over and over..............she was the BEST!!!!

i cant get over what good condition her voice is in here. this is flawless

I met her a few times and she was so great to her fans. A true legend
She has the right pitch with all the notes. And the personality to make it magic.
That's makes a performer! I love Peggy and always will.
She is wonderful--I miss her so much. They don't make talent like that anymore.
a supreme artist saw her in 1984 at the Royal Festival Hall ..... unforgettable
Listening to Peggy today. Appreciate your channel. After all these years still think that Mae West and Peggy were very close friends at a point of their lives.
Ms Peggy Lee was incredibly talented, as you can see.
She looks very taught which appears to also affect her voice.
Glad you're enjoying Peggy ! A lot of her albums are still available . Those that aren't are often on Ebay . The record companies often reissue her albums , too ..every few years . Have a look on the Peggy Lee website . Best Wishes , Gareth.
She was way ahead of her time...before there was mainstream rap there was Peggy Lee...lol :)
Where is the rest of this??? As usual, she is FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!

My she was hot.
She died in 2002 , so you must be very young!!
Is Peggy in England here?
Paul Edelstein Studio & Gallery Hi , yes , this was her 1981 UK visit .

something´s got to, isn´t it ?
hehehe

More ? Well, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Evelyn "C" King, and (no I know she's not that old yet) - SADE.
No ...she had recently suffered a Bells Palsy , which left the right side of her face paralysed . She never fully recovered from this .
Witney Houston surpassed Dolly Partons amazingly tender and sensitive original ???? Melinda Doolittle surpassed the great Peggy Lee ??? Oh my goodness !!! Well , I guess it's good that we don't all sharte the same "taste ".

I've never heard of a surgery to make you look like Bette Midler, lmao.
I take your point ...but you're a little unfair . She had a bad Bells Palsy .,..so the right side of her face is paralysed here , and is pulled up by plastic surgery . Hence Peggys appearance .
Sounds just fine, but her once expressive face has been altered.
+A Krenwinkle She's old. This may be after she had her first stroke.

I love Peggy, but here, she's full of botox!
