    05:28 I was a Bush Pilot CFI. If too fast on the flare, you can level it at say 3 feet and cut the flaps to Vx flaps. But hold the nose from dropping hard, On high wingers, the nose tend to drop when cutting flaps. On low wingers, nose tends to raise a bit. That is called "A 3 FEET FLAP CUT". Im the CFI that sent you my old ideo of doing 5 kinds of EFATO and landing with 16 knots tailwind.

      I've done that too but going into reverse is a faster way to slow down and once the mains are on the ground you can apply more reverse as needed. Just what works for me.

    Hey! I fly Caravans and the stall warner tends to go off in a tailwind if that was the case 🤷‍♂️

    Thanks Kerry , I'd say Nick will be an asset, calm and consistent - ideal for a jump pilot. At least he won't do what the jump pilot did on my one solo static line jump back in the 1980s, and stall-spin the plane out of the jump zone, with two very scared students still onboard, finally getting it straight and level at about 200 feet agl. He didn't fly for them again !

      Was that incident at Stanton in Minnesota? Because I know the jumpmaster that was in that plane!

      @@KerryDMcCauley Hello Kerry, that was at Tilstock Airfield just south of Whitchurch, Cheshire, UK which has been a skydiving centre since 1964.

    • @KerryDMcCauley
      @KerryDMcCauley  13 дней назад

      @@greenthing99100 Crazy that the incidents were so similar. In the Stanton case the jumpmaster was able to grab one student and throw him out. Then he puller his reserve while inside the plane and was yanked out just before the plane recovered at a VERY low altitude!

      Flying jumpers is a blast! I've been doing that for over 35 years. It's one of the best stick and rudder flying jobs in the world but you need 750 hours TT to qualify for the job. Most guys start by flying jumpers at a smaller DZ in 182s.

    Kerry, how many hours do you have behind the Garrett? Did you follow the Oceanside CA crash June 22. They went to add some power near final and got nothing and the oceanside surrounding terrain left them (pilot & co-pilot) nowhere good to go. Just wondering your opinions on steep decent Garrett ops. blancolirio (Juan Browne) covered it in a YT vid.

    • @KerryDMcCauley
      @KerryDMcCauley  13 дней назад

      I've got 430 hours in the Garrett and I'm very familiar with the Oceanside crash. The co-pilot/instructor used to fly jumpers at my DZ. I've got my own ideas about what happened but can't go into them here.
