In This War of Mine: Complete Edition, you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city, struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.
The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors.
At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive.
Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realise that, the better.

I literally just bought it for like 1.97€ for Switch! I always check the offers and even if I haven’t heard of it I’d I see a game for 2€ discounted from like 30 or 40€ I’m buying it! I picked up Signalis for about 7€ too. Bargain!

As an US Army veteran, this game invokes memories of my deployment to Bosnia 🇧🇦 after the major hostilities have ended. Seeing the ruined buildings, minefields and people who have survived the conflict really had an effect on me. The human condition as a result of war being put into a video game that shows the civilian side of the conflict is an interesting take on things. I definitely will be checking this game out. As always, this review was excellent. I have this on my wishlist.

Yep. I've played scenarios where, after being snowed in or cut off from some locations for several days, I was left with no other choice but to steal from the old couple at the Quiet House to survive. When I went back the next day, they were dead in their beds. Instant reset.

This is the game that unveiled my sister as a probable sociopath... She played the hell out of this game when I kept talking about it. And to my surprise, she has not felt the same dilemma I did because she automatically goes to the military outpost and kills the soldiers and loots the entire place 0_o she also revels in visiting the brothel and liking everyone there...

What I love about this game is the fact that it brings the survival genre to the next level, where you will care about each of the characters that you let in and the group's needs, day in and day out. It builds tension out of thin air and will leave you asking yourself whether the decisions you made (or are about to make) will be worth it in the long run.
The only downside is the controls, as stated in this review.
And by the way, it's on sale for $15.99 until March 15th.

Really glad I found your channel. I got back into gaming when I got a Switch at Christmas,already have 50+ games, and I am going from reliving my Saturn days playing Panzer Dragoon remake, my GameCube days with ReMake, to Doom Eternal to replaying the Bioshock trilogy to FINALLY getting scared stiff with Alien Isolation yo rattling my fears with Subnautica and then checking out stuff I don’t know anything about such as this game.
I got it for 2€ and wanted to check a review out. It is written superbly,you don’t repeat yourself over and over, you get the information across succinctly and tell us everything we really want to know about the game. The video was edited very well and I felt like you showcased the game perfectly.
Subscribed and will be checking out all the reviews in future because you have a fantastic formula for it and you put so much into it too.

Man the opening to Last of Us killed me.. My wife had just given birth to our daughter so that death sucked
The Missing had an ending that just smashed my heart to bits. Also, Transistor hit me pretty hard.
Recently the game that was hugely emotional was Horizon, zero dawn. what a game ! i had to see that through to the end. i think the 100 hours before the climax made me emotionally invested, far more than any film. i also think this game is up there too.

I have bought this game on the basis of Glenn’s review and only just started playing the game but whilst I have laughedAt so many of the reviews Mark and Glenn do this one in particular struck a nerve and reassures me that this should be the one @Patreon that I keep going throughout these difficult times.

Currently downloading this, and honestly, I like games that show the raw emotion that events like this show. I almost cried twice during The First Tree. And hopefully, we'll get to see more games like this in the future.

Really glad switch got this. Although I never managed to finish it (is that even possible?) the time I spent with it was gruelling, compelling and effective. I always ended up over working my characters they really need sleep otherwise depression kicks in

You can get through until hostilities end - I think it’s around the 40 day mark. I managed it once (on the PS4 version). It’s tough though. Fantastic game, very powerful stuff. Glen

When I saw this on today's sale's video, I just had to check and see if there was a review and, sure enough, there was. At first glance, this is not a game that I would have gone for based on the visuals but, due to the SwitchUp recommendation, actually seeing the game play, and learning of the story line, I am glad to say that it will now be gracing my backlog. I already have Sheltered and this will be a great companion to that game.
This really is a great game. Not 'fun' in the traditional sense, it goes deeper than that but is well worth expereincing. Glen

Thanks for this great and clear review. Game was sold with 90% discount (till new years eve there is a grand sale), so that's basically a steal. Very intrigued as I think this is not a game you can play for 5 minutes, put it away and not think about it until the next time you pick it up.

I still remember my first run. Marko, Pavle, Bruno and Roman. Everyone was starving, or wounded, or tired. And in those moments, you gotta make a choice. Steal, or pray that you find supplies. It's quite a dilemma. The game is NOT fun, but that doesn't mean it's awesome.

I actually got this game as part of a bundle when I bought frostpunk for around 27 dollars or so with the dlcs and season pass off of steam so great deal on my end 👌

I wish you would elaborate on combat. Is there even combat in this game? Can you fight or shoot guns? Melee weapons?!
+Joe David you can find guns at certain points and attempt to fight but must be careful as if a character dies, they are gone for good

It's definitely there. The eShop is a bit of a nightmare to navigate though.

Played the game before on IOS, it was alright but the touch controls weren’t good. I’ll think about getting this but most likely not due to the whole perms death and of course the price is a been much. Never liked that in games like zombiU back on the wiiU.
