Hi want to inform you that even though the locals seems nice and fun don't get too comfortable in crowded areas specially at night, we are still consider 3rd world country. Also want to add Filipino food uses lemon, soy sauce and vinegar mix together first in small plate or bowl as a dipping sauce then place on your food cause noticed you usually just place Kalamnsi (small citrus) in your food. You can always ask locals on how to properly eat the foods to enjoy the experience and appreciate it more.
Why they told you to be careful is there are some rats in the slum areas who are less fortunate that that trying to find ways to survive which have the tendency to rob anyone they'll spotted, there are some victims who are trying to fight back but ended up in hospital and sometimes in the tomb, you can find that in almost every country.
Just like in so many Cities there are areas where precautions are necessary. He went in Divisoria and it's jam-packed with people. Still generally speaking Manila is a safe place

Balut on the other hand😮, I don't know if I'll ever try it, but I can't wait to get thoughts on it. My business partner who lived there for two years said it was good and also it was considered an..lol. Well, let's just say it'll "give you crazy thoughts" 😂. 💜🐢
Hmmmmm good question, In the very beginning travelling to thailand I felt a bit lonely sometimes, but I'd say by the time I got to the Philippines I didn't get that feeling at all cause on and off camera there were so many people talking to me all the time, now I'm just used to traveling alone
Caution when eating at sidewalk places like that... hope you carry a good supply of immodium tablets for diarrhea or possibly food poisoning. Food handling practices are questionable. Good luck.😃😃😃
