I remember in Eltham The kids used to say "give us a kiss Georgie" there was no bullying with his brothers particularly Richard the boxer watching out for him.
I think he's great and living as a gay man in Palm Springs, I think he liberated a lot of boys who worried about the negative attitude towards homosexuality in the 70's
This is a lovely interview ... me and a friend independently told each other stories of how we introduced our first borns (now 9 and 12) to Boy George... kamacamelion is like one of the earliest songs you sing them in their pop education.... then you got to show them the vid to "see Boy George" ... much respect!
Such a lovable man. Yes I bet the rent boy was thinking that when he was chained to a radiator by him
Boy George has his father features and has his mother voice .. That a great combination good blood flow.
genuine people with a great Son .
I have never listened to his music but have always given him credit for being true to himself. Rolled his way. Lovely mini doc
Oh, love them, lucky man to have lovely parents who always care.
Amazes me people assume his parents would be anything other than ordinary!! The Beatles, Bowie, most of the greats came from ordinary everday backgrounds!!
80s were my era, not a big fan of boy George but I am intrigued by a personality background.
Brilliant video about lovely people. I love his mum's accent with that subtle brogue . I'd love to see a photo of George and all his siblings together x
George your parents are simply adorable. So like your mum ♥️
He is such a good mix of his parents.
Love BG, and CC, they were in the pages of my life's book during hs, and college! The 80s were the best!
Oh my goodness. He is so like his mum. They looked really nice people.
Geezus, if you walked in to a pub, and sat down with them for a drink, and they told you they were Boy George's parents, you would tell them to pull the other one...🤣soo down to earth and normal...LOL"
Ffs his ma is like boy George without make up,...
@@goalltheway-pm8xs that's not fair do you really want to hurt me?
sherp2u1 Yes true. But if you listen to George he's down to earth despite the beautiful makeup and wonderful talent.
They are not normal ... how could they be with that up town messenger boy son
@@nagolhayze9366 I can't imagine how their genes combined to produce him. They're so normal they're like a glass of water. Dull. He's.....like a rainbow parakeet.
Great down to earth interview,
Brilliant interview love Boy George and has loving parents ❤️
Has his father's face shape and looks like his mom. This is awesome❤
Always liked Culture Club and Boy George. As a boy growing up in the eighties, there was so much different, diverse colourful music.
Neat footage...I never would have guessed his parents to look like they do, especially his father.
Did you expect it was a long line of men in colorful braids with bowler hats on top, then, haha? :P
@@dntskdnttll ...funny comment, but I was not exactly thinking that either 😄
@@WelshKnight1066 HOW ARE HIS PARENTS SUPPOSED TO LOOK?
@@sarahjones-jf4pr I expected his father to be more wiry, perhaps gaunt, and his mother to be petite and dark-haired with the common square Irish chin. It was closer to the reverse.
@@WelshKnight1066 Are they Irish? I thought his parents were Irish: these two have pure Sarf Lahndahn accents:-)
What lovely parents. Understanding and down to earth!
Don't be fooled, the father beat the shite out of um all & left the mam after 43 yrs
Ahhh..the 80s!! At the time of this interview, I was 12 years old and proudly sporting 3 Boy George buttons on my “members only” jacket😂😂. My family wasn’t happy about it AT ALL and always asked why in the world I would want to wear them bc he looked like a girl and a freak, but they allowed it and didn’t fight me too much bc I loved him and his music so much😂😂. Still do❤️. …about the same response from my parents about the life size Michael Jackson poster I had on my wall during this time❤️😂😂.
What a lovely supportive father "respecting his right to do what he wants to do"
Loved this interview. You can see Geoge's beautiful eyes in his dads. 💖
And the smile from his mom
I always thought he looked just like his mom.
Lovely interview never seen it before...you can see where George got his charm and personality from.
I’m an massive George fan he is an icon a trend setter an individual of exceptional talent what amazing parents who contrary to belief we’re extremely supportive I always thought he had a hard time with his dad I’m pleasantly surprised thank you for sharing this ✌️🇬🇧
Boy George DID have a hard time with his dad. But of course his dad isn't going to admit to his abuse and bullying on camera. Look further into it.
My nan was from county cork, Ireland 🇮🇪 loved Boy George! She said i like him he's Irish❤️❤️🇮🇪 I've always been a fan of George and culture club🇮🇪🇬🇧❤️
Typical claiming him to be Irish
@@JS-id7nd he is Irish regardless of where he was born in the world.
@@campfreddy3547 would you call the plastic paddies on the east coast Irish?
@@campfreddy3547 doesn’t even have Irish citizenship
@@JS-id7nd A glass of water is more Irish than most a Irish Americans.
Wonderful interview by Derek. I love the conversation style. He relaxes the subjects & they open up.
I thought I was watching a comedy script 😂 😅 🤣 is this real 😳 Dad said I took one look at George 😆 🤣 😂
Your fookin right this was real
wonderful! I wish TV was still like this :0(
Yep, comedy so much better in the 80's this is a classic 😭😭😅🤣😭😂🤣😅😅🤣😭
Hi how are you doing?
No matter what I do love Boy George's ideal and artistry to music indivue and Thank goodness for Boy George. Love Boy George and Thank good for the 80's.🌬💖💖💖💖
Hello how’re you doing?
Beautiful couple. Good people. Very eloquent and well spoken. Definitely easy to see why and how he is so intelligent and witty. Love Boy George!
Hi dad wasn't a "good person". Look up the full story. Here's one to start with:

@@lyrebird9749 thanks, will watch this. I do want to know the full story.
Unfortunately dad was abusive towards the whole family
Even when Dinah was pregnant with George.
My sister was approached by Boy George in a night club in Manchester in the 90's.
He walked up to her and said she was wearing "The best outfit in here!" and hugged her, which made her year!
She was completely naked... apart from a parachute harness that my mum made the night before out of an old duffel bag!
It doesn't get any more 90's club-scene than that! 🙈🏆🇬🇧
The 1st mankini
@@trees9987 Well Trees, tonight was your lucky night, because my sister just WhatsApp'd me. She said "It was a Chuff Chuff event". Apparently they went on to host events all over the country which were all under the 'Chuff Chuff" banner, but as to which club hosted it alas she didn't remember, but I bet somebody will know from that. Stay creative, stay curious. 👍🏻🎶
Boy Georges parents : ' He always wanted a pet Chameleon but we wouldn't allow it, I guess he resented us for years because once famous he never stopped singing about the bleeding things '
Fantastic times the 80's great memories including the culture club glad I grew up in that era
