      Under which rule set, MMA rules or a no-rules self defence scenario? Only a fool thinks MMA is automatically optimized for a self defence situation like a home invasion, carjacking, date rape, multiple attackers, weapons, etc.
      That said, look at what happens when core Wing Chun techniques ARE used in MMA. For example, the finger jab to the eyes is a core WC technique. It’s not banned because it isn’t effective… clearly! I’d also argue that Jon Jones’ WC knee stomps are among the scariest kicks in MMA and I’ve seen multiple high level MMA fighters and kick-boxers use the bong sau effectively against strikes.

    • @MrCBTman

    I would think the best self defense is a mix of cardio, counter grapple, striking guards/parries, space/time creation, and weapon retention/deployment. I don't know what martial art teaches that but these are what I would value. Please let me know if there is an art that highlights these things. Thank you.

    • @TheLuconic
      @TheLuconic 6 месяцев назад

      @@zman4116or that Russian military martial arts as well as Chinese martial arts. Technically speaking, all martial arts, including the original karate, teaches you these things. In the world we live in, it’s all separated to the point where you can sorta customize what you want. Many have argued that this way is best and maybe they are right considering that many people want the cool stuff first. Even though MMA is sport oriented, at least each fighter gets to work on what they lack.
      Point is, learn from whom and what you can. Cuz even wing chun needs love and why RUclipsrs like this guy, Izzo Dominic, Kevin and others who are applying grappling and boxing elements to wing chun to revitalize the art.
      Last thing, wing chun has all that you are asking for but the wing chun we have now is no longer what it once was and is very political. Look at the cults in china. I mentioned karate earlier is because Jesse Enkamp found that karate used to have everything before it was watered down for its striking aspects only since japan already had jiujitsu and judo.
      So I guess go to Okinawa for everything?

    Do you really believe its plausible to punch to the head without gloves ie in a street fight ? Unless you have done a lot of hand conditioning i wouldnt recommend it. In a fast street exchange you want to just be looking for fast blunt force trauma. Elbows to head as they are harder and wont smash your knuckles up, punches only to solar plexus (soft areas) . I speak as someone who has had a lot of fights from growing up in a horribly rough area. Never started a fight in my life but have always managed to defend myself. I know how hard a head can be and would only use a punch to the throat in an extreme circumstance as you want to defend yourself without any manslaughter charges. Perhaps I am wrong and you have other beliefs. Would be interested in your thoughts.

    • @simonsayss187
      @simonsayss187 7 месяцев назад

      Yet punching to the face is done everyday in streetfights, vale tudo, bkfc, gypsy bareknuckle fights, K.o.t.s and underground fights like the ones Kimbo Slice did?🤔

    • @RoninGroupUK
      @RoninGroupUK 7 месяцев назад

      @@simonsayss187 Yes I am aware of this. But have you noticed how long these fights go on for unnecessarily. Most people can take punches to face, head but most people dont have the hand conditioning to pull off throwing bone. Hence why I would advise elbows for close range up close and personal phone box fighting. Usually gets an instant knock out wherever it hits. Saves dancing around like a couple of flapping pikeys for ages. Just a thought. But hey opinions vary and people have preferences. I personally usually just kick the knee right through for range 1 (kicking range) or teep straigh into the abdomen, for range 2 (punching range) bareknuckle would be solar plexus or liver range 3 (trapping range) Elbows and knees under chin or across jaw range 4 (grappling range) BJJ.

    Your distance has no power! Thats not the most ideal. Grappling can also clinch upper body. One must learn an art to be able to defend it. But some arts are too weak to even need to learn it! Someone that has training has an advantage against a non trained. VS an experienced martial artist. WC is ranked below MT or Boxing. Prove me wrong?

    Competing in a cage against a trained fighter and defending yourself in the street are two different things. Wing Chun wasn’t meant for the cage it might work against an average person with zero training but is obviously incomplete for the cage because it lacks take down defense and ground game
