Thanks so much. This and your window Videos have been a. Huge help to me doing it myself.
Thanks for the tip about slam vents, I’m just about to carpet my interior and had originally covered these holes up👍
One question i haven’t heard you mention. Do you not sound deaden or thermo acoustic line the wheel arches. It’s an area that causes a lot of road noise and have seen them sound deadened on other videos. Wondered your thoughts. Great videos, thanks for all the advice!
Fantastic job
Thanks for the videos - going to try the same process for my fiet doblo
Fantastic informative videos.
Thanks a lot.
Salaam to you and to all.
Congrats @kiravans! Your videos are very good and useful 🙏
Really good explanation . Perfect
Hi, did you ever make a video about the flooring? I’m interested what floor insulation you use
Excellent video
Fantastic video- thanks for sharing
Thanks for the videos! Why did you take the descision to not putting noise damps on the wheel covers? 😊
Excellent video!
You mentioned a plastic clip if one don't want to screw in the panels. What kind are you referring to?
Thanks!
Any tips on hiding screws apart from getting similar colour ones
Brilliant
Thanks David!
Great job!
Great informative Video as always. Learnt some tips and have put our own video out on our channel
Thank you.
Looks great!
Nice work Mikey!
Hi is it not necessary to insulate the metal joists?
Just been watching your series in readiness for starting my own. I noticed no vapour barrier behind the panels, Are we thinking it's not required as I know lots of people have different options. Thanks for the video's and keep up the great work.
Hi, you're right about lots of different opinions on how folks do this. A vapour barrier might be sensible if you are planning on spending weeks or months living in your van in colder conditions. If primarily for weekends away and mostly summer use then I don't think it's necessary.
Also do you drill hole through carpeted panel first before putting screws in?
Cheers
If you are using screws to attach panels then you'll need to use a 2.5mm drill bit and use general purpose pozi-drive screws about 30mm long. The drill bit is about the same diameter as the solid part of the screw.
Why are the wheel arches not covered in sound deadening please ??
How did you do the floor, do you screw board through metal panel. Can’t be a good idea
well done!
Pls, can you specify the name of the material you call carpet? Trade name? Thank you, Igor Czech Republic.
Hi there were can i purchase the carpet i am in the process here in northern ireland is it possible to purchase the carpet for a citreon dispatch 2013 or wer to buy please class video thanks
What color is it on the carpet?
What size steel screws? I have black carpet. Any recommendations?
Great video, keep them coming!! Where would you get the rear threshold from? 👍👍
Glad you like them. We sell the threshold trims here:
www.kiravans.co.uk/pages/search-results-page?q=rear+threshold+cover
I struggled cutting the carpet with a Stanley knife. Would just drag it. New blades and tried the snap off blades yet still the same. Would this have been down to my technique or the type of stretch carpet I was using. Perhaps it was a poor quality stretch carpet. Anyone come across this situation as well? Made for a poorer job
Is your insulation and carpet kit enough to do a panel Van with kombi side windows, when carpeting the ply full height panels separately. Also insulating the roof and floor ?
Great video will this carpet stick straight on plastic panels inside thanks in advance
As long as the plastic is clean and de-greased then yes it will.
Good video. May I ask, when carpet lining up to where the rubber door seals sit, do you wrap the carpet over the metal lip on the bodywork, or trim the carpet level with the lip? I'd prefer to wrap the carpet over the metal lip, but I'm concerned that if I do that, the thickness of the carpet will mean the rubber seals won't go on properly and they could leak.
Mine was carpeted prior to me buying the van and I had to trim it back and fit a new seal because as you mentioned, it stopped the seal from doing its job and dripped constantly
Hello. Can you please tell me what kind of glue do you usa?
Join on the rear door frame like most ive seen on youtube....none of that on the vans ive done 🤔
Hi, nice lining! which color is this one as refered to the kiravan web site ? thanks
Hi, it's silver carpet which is available to buy in 5m or 10m on our website.
I was looking on comments to find out this info . Thanks 🙏
Just wondering do you have to put a membrane barrier after you put the insulation in and before you carpet lining?
Love the videos very informative and a great learning source 👌thank you
We recommend a 4 layer process,
1. Sound Blocker
2. Thermo-Acoustic Foam
3. Thermal Fill Insulation
4. Stretch Lining Carpet
Forgive my ignorance but what is sound blocker and Thermo acoustic Foam 🤔
That you for your prompt reply your very good 👍
Hi, Is there a reason you did not sound deaden the wheel arches before carpeting?
If you've carpeted your storage panel, could I carpet all the interior panels in my VW shuttle? Guessing a degrease prior to applying glue would be needed?
Thanks
Yes you can carpet the interior panels. Just make sure you use a degreasing agent to wipe it all down to make sure there's no dust or any residue left on there. Spray the metalwork with high temperature adhesive where you want the carpet to stick, and spray it on the back of the carpet too.
Without this being sped up how long did this take you??
Thanks for your question. I usually say a professional could carpet line a van in a day but a novice should allow two days minimum probably. It’s hard to quantify because some people are more practical than others etc....my best advice is don't rush it!
What plywood panels are you using? My van doesn’t have any and I’m clueless where to buy decent ones that’ll suit the carpet and interior lining kit you sell.
It's just a mid-priced ply lining kit from the internet.
What sizes will do a transit mwb
Are the bits without ply lining or frame to cover the insulation going to be spongey to touch? Is there no way to perhaps ply line and then carpet so as to ensure you don’t get insulation falling out behind the carpet? Please let me know your thoughts as someone who is looking to do this soon. Thanks very much.
I'm not sure if you fully watched the whole video? You will see that I screw carpeted plywood panels over each wall section after carpet lining over the metal framework.

@@Marco-ez8zm 👍
Good work, but that adhesive is HIGHLY VOC so you should be wearing an appropriate breather.
I'm thinking about attempting to carpet my van. I've never done it before, is it easier to carpet with ply already in? Or do panels separately & screw them in? Thanks
There isn't really much difference in terms of 'difficulty' but if you think you will need access behind your panels in the future then carpet them separately and screw them on.
Hi what sort of price figure would I be looking at for someone do do this for me on a t5 2004 please ruffle thanks
Hi. Prices vary from fitter to fitter so best to contact a few local ones and see how they compare.
I am not sure why you put two laters of felt on the van, first against the metal, then the felt panels? Was this for insulation and noise reduction?
The first is the sound blocker layer and the second is the thermo acoustic foam.
Sorry, just re-read your question and I think you are referring to the lining carpet.
As I am screwing carpet lined plywood panels to the main wall areas, the first step of carpet lining is just to cover the exposed metalwork, which surrounds these panels. The easiest and neatest way to do this is to carpet line the whole side of the van with one large piece of lining carpet. If I just tried to cover the metalwork with strips of carpet there would be lots of unsightly joins. This technique is a bit more wasteful of carpet but does allow for the removal of wall panels if required later.
I could have cut out the carpet locally behind the plywood panels and would do so in future if I needed access to those cavities but thought I'd just leave it as extra insulation/sound deadening in the meantime. Hope that helps to explain.
@@kiravans5874 ok, thanks
Hi again Mike, my T6.1 is coming with a steel bulkhead and hard wood floor. I’d like to carpet the interior like you did in this video (except the ceiling) to protect the metal from equipment banging around. Do I have to remove the bulkhead too for a clean finish? I’m wondering if I can also carpet the bulkhead too - have you ever done this?
Hi, it's a while since I carpeted my last van but I reckon you should be able to do a good job by leaving the bulkhead in - especially if you are going to carpet the bulkhead. You'll have a better idea once you get your van and take a look. Good luck :)
@@kiravans5874 thanks so much, and your video is really helpful!
Diego Lorenzo Jose if you take out the bulkhead there’s a lip on the floor and it’s a bit of a pain in the ass me and my dad got rid of it earlier but it make a bit of a mess
How thick is the ply you’ve used for the walls of the van? Thanks
It's thin sheets of ply 3.6mm. It's not a product we supply but there are various sellers online who supply ply lining kits. I hope this helps.
@@kiravans5874 thanks again guys !
Were did u get the rear side panels that go above the wheel arches mate
Do you mean the door stores, or the plywood panels? The door stores are available on our website www.kiravans.co.uk/collections/kiravans-vw-t5-t6-doorstore-campervan-storage-accessories, you'll just need to carpet them. We have a viedo on our website explaining how it's done. The plywood panels are simply just sprayed and carpeted.
@@kiravans5874 ah I see I have the original grey card panels for all the interior apart from the top 2 at the rear above the wheels arches. Did u just use a ply board panel to cover the whole rear quarters?
@@Galamesh123 Yes thats correct a 4mm ply wood panel we use here.
Where to buy? I need door storage

What are your thoughts on a vapour barrier
Hi Brian, we don't use a vapour barrier on our vans personally but its each to their on decision on this topic. From research we have learnt that its can be very difficult to create a vapour barrier that would cover the entire van area 100% which is what would be needed. Usually there is still potential for vapour to get in though around light fittings, switches and if it seeps in through here and has no way of getting out as the rest of the van is protected by the barrier it is likely to just accumulate which could result in further harm down the line. With materials such as paneling and lining alone any vapour that does come in should also be able to go back out again. We found this video very interesting on the topic: ruclips.net/video/IjZy6yAngoQ/видео.html
Like we said however we dont personally use them but others might and may have tips to ensure a 100% protection.
@@kiravans5874 thanks for the video, I think I would agree with his thoughts not possible to get 100%…… hence could make it worse.
By the way great videos
@@brianbrooks4070 Thank you Brian.
What Glue u are using and do you sell it?
Hi, it's a high temp spray adhesive. We sell it here www.kiravans.co.uk/collections/insulation-carpet-vinyl
Hi! Do I have to remove the ceiling if I want to carpet line just the walls of VW T6?
If you are just carpeting the wall panels and screwing them in place then you don't need to remove ceiling panels. If you are carpeting the walls fully up to the ceiling then it is best to remove ceiling panels and carpet walls up above ceiling level so the edges are neatly hidden.
@@kiravans5874 that makes sense. Thanks so much
Where is double Bubble foil
Hello. Please see website for all product information. www.kiravans.co.uk/. Under Lining.
What screws do you use to secure the panels ? Thanks !
It doesn't really matter. Any screw that is similar colour to your carpet and long enough to get through the plywood and the metal behind. Drill your screw holes just a bit smaller in diameter than the screw so it goes in easy and doesn't snap off.
Kiravans does the drilling and the screws not ravel up the carpet on the way in?
@@twangogt not if you've got enough glue on and the drill bit is nice and sharp.
@@kiravans5874 ok. Thanks for getting back. Paneling this weekend.
@@kiravans5874 do/can you use self tapping/tec type screw or is it just your average type with a flat head..?
It's not helping me by it being time laps

use a mask when spraying
This part is not a DIY job. 🤦♂️
Change this bloody intro sound ffs
If you set temp to 20 degs, does the heater shut down around 20 degs and then start up again when the temp falls significantly. Or in other words has a proper temp controller?
Hi,
The rheostat (or rotary) control works by twisting the control knob to the
desired heat setting, and using the buttons listed to determine the heaters
function. Variable output is simply high to low heat/fan speed. The
temperature button switches the heater to thermostatic mode (the heater
will then switch to a cool-down cycle automatically once it has reached the
selected temperature). The fan button only switches the fan on for cool air.
@@kiravans5874 Thanks. So yes it does regulate the temperature
Excellent video
Do you not use a thermal reflective vapour barrier?
Hi Yes we use a 4 step lining process, step 2 we use a Thermo acoustic foam: www.kiravans.co.uk/collections/insulation-carpet-vinyl/products/van-insulation-lining-self-adhesive-foam-with-foil-inner-surface. With this, we mainly only place this in the cavities of the panels and the roof however. Some others prefer to cover more areas with this product of the lining. Thanks
