Congrats on your 100K subscribers! I jammed my toe practicing popups on my exercise mat. Once injured it seemed to be a magnet for reinjury so now I wear my "water shoes" to protect it during exercise. Never have the problem barefoot in the water so all is good! Patience is a hard learned trait for me. Still working on it at 73!

Thank you, Kale, for sharing your challenges, but even more your love of the ocean. The joy you feel while surfing is evident in all of your videos, but especially the ones where you forget the camera and just flow.

Man i feel you! These injuries are such a mental challenge.. its like we have to really face our own lil demons and take care of them, which we have avoided with our favoirite distraction (sports)

Mate you’ve just described my life 😂 forever rehabbing. 3x shoulder recons spinal fusion broken toes, 2x broken arms (at the same time). I feel you. Just coming back from the spinal fusion (2 months post) and been back surfing tentatively for a week or so. Your statement was a light bulb. Time away makes you so much hungrier so you push that much harder when your back and it leads to more injuries. But how do you curb that excitement 🤷♂️

Hi Kale - really needed this, I dislocated my patella early September skateboarding and still haven't recovered enough to go back to surfing or skateboarding - being referred to orthopedics as may need an operation so my recovery is probably not going to be as quick as yours. I guess there is more to life than surfing but at the same time just really want to get back to it.... either way this video helped a bit, cheers. BTW you are ripping :) and I need that knee brace, have you got a link to it?

Nice work, hope the toe is better. You are tripping with your GF, but who is doing your water angle filming? I have severe arthritis in my toes soI understand your pain. I bad surf is a really bad surf, the good days are like gold. Wish I could surf like your bad days 😃 oh and youre from SA? Would love to see some of SAs coast / surfing.

Hi Kale I am a young french rider who really needs your help ! Thanks to your wonderful series on the best surfboards I recently bought the sharpeyes infero 72 ! I would like to buy a set of fcs II fins but I don't really know wich one ... My size is S, I am an intermediate surfer I often surf on typical french beach break and waves are rarely big and hollow and have a size from 2 to 6ft . Because you already ride the board wich familiy of fins do you conseil me ? ( I don't really have a budget ) Thank you so much for your help 🙌

i fractured three of my toes on my leading foot (natural)many many many years ago. It took all of 8 weeks and even then i could still feel it surfing. Get on the CBD oil..

Teaching moments- the older you get, the more prone to injuries you become. You’re not 18yo anymore. Airs aren’t worth it!!! It’s probably the most common injury producing maneuver there is in surfing. Lastly, I hope you have health insurance 🤙
