Hello Friends!
I've been watching my good friend Sarah Mack pour her Galaxy Series and it's been so much fun to watch! She's definitely got the magic touch creating these absolutely beautiful Galaxy pours, and I am so blessed that she poured one just for me! I'm so excited, I can't wait! It will hang in a place of honor in my home..
Of course, watching her pour gets me itching to pour 😂 I have done straight pours since I started pouring, and have really enjoyed trying to recreate her technique. I was using 20x20 canvases like she was, but I kept ending up tilting a lot of paint off and keeping the center. I decided to try a bigger canvas, in the hope that I wouldn't tilt as much of the design off. That's what this video is about today.
My colors are:
Golden's
Prussian Blue
Cobalt Violet
Permanent Deep Violet

Persian Blue
(plus some Paynes Gray)
DecoArt Americana
Decor Metallics
24K Gold
Artist's Loft
Titanium White
(plus some DecoArt
Satin Enamels Pure White)
My pouring medium is:
Liquitex Gloss
Medium & Varnish
A bit of Water
Floetrol
Sarah uses straight Floetrol to mix her paint, but I still added some Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish. When I use only Floetrol, I get beautiful cells and shapes but they distort after some time and I don't like it as much, so I added my LGM&V as a binder to help hold the shape of my cells and design.
I poured one cup, and stretched it out and it created some of the most beautiful effects! I absolutely LOVE the white 'lightning' looking waves, but the edge with the Violet and Prussian Blue mixed with the gold is just amazing to me. I did pour another cup to get something of a galaxy in there, but it looks more like a wild ocean than Galaxy 🧜♀️🌊😂
This was such a fun pour, and the last few weeks were so exciting watching her videos and seeing them evolve, each one more beautiful than the next. I think it's so cool how one person can influence and inspire so many people across the world.. it's one of the best things about this art form. The pouring community is so friendly and caring, it's so cool that we all lift each other up and help and inspire each other. Kindness costs nothing, spread it all around ❤

I love how the second pour just became one with the first, it always amazes me when that happens. Especially when the second cup is put together so quickly and with very little leftovers! Beautiful as always!

I have tried to make several of Sarah Mack's ethereal pours. The lovely thing about them is that even if it doesn't work out as planned, it generally turns out to be beautiful. Your painting is a prime example! It also makes for an interesting wing or waterfall pour...

I tried to get her galaxy pour so many times l had to stop starting with white in the bottom of my cup. You, Sarah and The Massie boys are always my top inspiration. However no one has taught me more than you and your kind consistently explaining how and why❤️
When you cut to the dry pour against that gorgeous background... All I could do was gasp! Followed by " Holy Sh@$!! " Stunning! A Complete Stunner of a cut scene And the painting in full sun! OMG, WOW!!! I love's me some Mina Villegas Art!!! 1080p... I can only imagine what 4K would be.. Would really love to see this one after you spray varnish it!

Mina I so look forward to your videos. They are so inspiring and each one turns out to be very special. Lots of fun watching you. 🤣 We do have some Golden here in SA but they are very expensive so I spend hours mixing the paint we have available trying to reproduce the colors you use. 🤦🏼♀️
I’ve definitely been fascinated with her work as well as yours. I’m on number 5 and have the 1st one that the gold held together somewhat. So I feel I’m making minor progress. I’m working on 20x 20 but have some larger ones to use when I work up the confidence. Thanks for your work and your very generous heart.

I did a 18x24 Ethereal Passage pour, first time I ever wrote down colors & how Sarah layered her cup. I emailed a pic to her & she approved. It’s like a giant colab!

Looks lovely.....I have tried twice to do Sarah’s galaxies....total fail first time way toooooo much white and every colour got lost except blue & white...second attempt was slightly better, could actually see others colours, but again tooooo much white in the middle & I thought I only put a drop in ! I added a bit more in the middle and looks like a ghost face to me now lol ! I loved how you had all that dark section before you added the second pour but still came out lovely.....you amaze me how you manage to do this outside without getting dust & leaves in your artwork! 💙💙💜💜xox
