Acrylic Funnel pour painting on 48x48 gallery wrapped canvas, using Golden's paints: Turquoise, Gold, Anthraquinone Blue, & Payne's Gray
Hello Friends!
Last week I saw Dirty Artist do a funnel pour and it was amazing to watch! I had never done a pour using a funnel, so I was greatly intrigued! Her results were so beautiful, I decided to give it a try.
My colors are:
Golden's
~Payne's Gray
~Turquoise
~ Anthraquinone Blue
~ Pearl Mica Flake (small)
DecoArt Americana Decor
~ Pearl
~ 24K Gold
~ Emerald Green
**THERE IS NO SILICONE **
Basecoat
~Artists Loft White
~Satin Enamels Pure White
My pouring medium is:
~Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish
~water as needed
~Floetrol
I did 5 Funnel pours on this huge canvas.. the paint comes out so fast! It was a very cool experience, I really enjoyed it.
the 4th one got a bit messy trying to fill the funnel while holding it, but I figured it out and managed to get the full funnel over to where I wanted it.
I want to mention the Pearl Mica Flake..I have used it before on the surface of a wet painting and wanted to see how it would perform in the pour itself, mixing with all my colors. I was very excited to see if that sparkle would be all over the canvas. Unfortunately, it seems to be under the rest of the colors, and that sparkle is not showing through. There are a few small areas that you see a bit of the sparkle but not much. I think the best application for this product is either on the wet surface after you are done tilting, or possibly on top of a dried piece, so it would really show up. I enjoyed playing with the Pearl Mica Flake and will use it more.
I love the deep turquoise colors in this piece, it's very calming and relaxing to look at. I had so much fun creating it!! Huge Thank You to Dirty Artist for her amazing painting and inspiration to try it myself! You can watch her video here:

I love this one so much. The Gold and that Anthriquinone blue flashing purple, it gives the cells an iridescent quality. It looks opalescent in the "sea" of dark Payne's grey, or real colors. Beautiful.
I just don't know how you can shift those HUGE canvases. STRONG and talented. Thank you for explaining about the amounts of paint, and your processes. It helps. I know when I first started watching, I was appalled by the paint run-off, now I get that it gives more freedom to keep the composition. I love your giggles. I've learned so much from you and wanted to thank you for explaining why it just wasn't a good idea to be frugal in my use of paint. I'm a 79 year old beginner and discovered this week to live it up... use tons of paint and go to bed each night happy that what I did today was gorgeous. This piece is gorrrrrgeous! It reminds me of a river calmly winding through canyons of beautifully colored & varied rock formations until it hits that place where things start to get a little tricky & the white water begins, twisting & churning it's way to....umm, to wherever white water goes lol.

I love you laugh and your squirrel moments, i have them all the time( it’s really chemo brain) my hubby says they are squirrel moments. You are very inspirational, I love your videos. And as far as negative people ( you can’t fix stupid) again your work is fabulous, I’ve done smaller pots but not on the scale that you do, it’s very relaxing to do paint pouring
