Hey Dangerman, I just watched all your vids today - well done! My only suggestion - stop answering to the haters. Like you've said before: anyone making youtube videos is going to be trolled. People are jerks, and even more so when they can get away with saying anything from behind a computer screen. For the people that genuinely enjoy your videos, its a distraction to have you address what haters think and try justifying why it makes sense. There's nothing you will ever say or do that won't be criticized, so just do what you do and keep the focus on people who find benefit from what you have to offer.
Scott. I answer people. Equally. :-) Even the butt hurt need an ass rub. I may break conventional thinking in doing so, but it is what I do. And to be honest, there are those I do ignore. There have been banned users. Also know that a lot goes on behind the scenes that I don't share except in perhaps this rare moment. One troll that was operating on behalf of a small group of haters inadvertently brought in one of the biggest names in paintball to a dustup. I privately reached out to that premier paintball name in response. My question was did he agree with the small clique I'm referring to? He had no idea this was going on and wanted to get involved to tamp it down but I said, that wasn't my goal. As an aside, I learned from him he too had trolls that he HAD to deal with. One was causing real trouble everywhere for over 4 years. That troll was hiding in anonymity under many users names and spreading a serious lie before major events on consistently. He was unrelenting and unwilling to even be reasoned with. In the end, he was found out and now that person is known for what they did and even unwelcome at a number of events. Sorry, this has nothing to do with my larger narrative, but it does prove both you and I correct. Everyone gets trolled, and we should all accept the fact it's going to happen or don't ever post to social media. So I said to my fellow paintball personality "If we can't accept trolling, we shouldn't be here as celebrity representatives of our sport." But I did care what this fellow paintballer had to say about me as I know which players opinions have meaning to me. That was the only reason I reached out to that player. I wont' tell you how the story ends in regards to the clique of haters and my conversation with the other big name paintballer who will remain anonymous. I simply want to repeat that while it may not be obvious, I am unaffected by trolls. I may appear to be, and if so - I'm attempting (one more time) to clear that up now. The purpose in replying to trolls is to remind them that we are all on the same team. We are all 'real' people and that if they want to be childish or rude, they can do so but it does NOT MAKE THEM RIGHT. I don't censor opinions here unless they cost me money. My channel isn't a democracy, it's capitalism at it's best. I provide a service that if you get value from, I in return will benefit from. And while you may believe I'm harming my brand in doing so, I can only respectfully disagree. I keep track of my traffic, subscriber base, daily statistics and overall growth. My decisions are not aimless. :-) You can argue that you know marketing better than I, and that may also be true. However I also believe that if I put in some effort to be decent EVEN to those that get upset with me because they disagree violently, I have a better chance at both changing their opinion, and building a better appreciation for our respective game types. What I mean by that is the gap that often exists between speedballers and woodsballers. Sadly it's most often the D4 category player segment (not all D1! - lol) but those types are usually the more aggressive. Last up, I don't mind taking some time to interact with subscribers. I'm more than just a reluctant eceleb. I'm a paintballer that enjoys making new friends like anyone else. One the best friends I ever made was a guy that bullied me in high school til we brawled in the hallway oldschool and I gave him the biggest black eye of his life. I learned from that, our fight may have been necessary to finally get to know each other. From that we found we both liked the same things, and not just the same girl the fight was incited over in the first place. LOL These guys spewing smart ass comments are not my enemies. They are fellow paintballers and only if they cost me money do I ban them and drop kick their ass to the moon. Otherwise, peace. :-)
DangerMan I understand your perspective, and I didn't mean to imply you don't know what you're doing. I only offered it as a suggestion because of the situation I found myself in. I run a couple of paintball teams, and one of them is a Woodsball team with a bunch of noobs. I built a website for them, and have been scouring youtube videos and channels looking for good vids that I can put into a "curriculum" and have them watch. Your videos largely facilitate that need, and they have a lot of insightful information, but when you go off on tangents that only makes sense to viewers who are folloing the trolls in your comments, its really distracting. Case in point - I was watching one of your videos with a friend and it was going smoothly, but then you start talking about holding your gun at 90 vs 45 degrees, and you go off on a tangent about how speedballers and trolls and yadda yadda yadda.... for me it totally disrupted the video. As people genuinly interested in the content of your videos, my friend and I were left to just sit and wonder what you were talking about. We concluded that someone said something that got under your skin, and you were taking time out of your video (and our viewing pleasure) to address haters. If you say your favorite color is blue, someone will tell you it should be red. You can tell them its just your opinion, and they'll try to explain how your logic is faulty, and red is the one true color. Even if you convince them that blue is pretty cool, someone else will pop up and tell you no - red is the best and that other guy is a coward for not standing behind his convictions. Assholes are like hydras man... you cut off a head and two more pop up. You will never satisfy them, but you can easily alienate your target audience by engaging with people who are not sincerely interested in improving your show.
You make a good point. To be considered. In the video in question, I wanted to bring emphasis to a long standing issue a very specific category of speedballers have with woodballers. Clearly that emphasis was not communicated well. In closing, I enjoy good controversy when it brings attention to something worth talking about. I missed the mark there. Again, thanks.
I just wanted to ask a question if you don't mind, my trigger on my azodin kaos is very sqicky and I just want to know what I could about it, if you could please reply . thank you
Most every scenario event has a tech gun shop visiting for the day. You don't even have to PAY to visit the fields to shop the vendors. That's often a great way to get either some free gun tech work, or solid answers, if not something done on the cheap.
the guy at around 4 minutes sneaks into camera then back out 😂😂
When the hell were spectators allowed to communicate to players?
lol the guy behind you at 3:51
great interviews!
