The fact that Krishna was originally dark-skinned but portrayed fairer by modern artists says a lot about racism/segregation in India. What a shame!
It's not racism is sort of a discrimination cause the race is the same anyhow. And I like the fact you impressed on the point 'Modern' artists cause such kind of colour based discrimination probably didn't exist 5,000 years ago from now.
I believe racism is different than this ,this is discrimination against people from their own race,its against the people who have different shade of color for their skin , i would prefer the term colorism

Hypocrisy is that people who themselves are dark skinned will criticize others. If u are a girl( from South also) even a little bit of increased melanin might decrease ur chances of getting married( by arranged marriage). I've seen this firsthand. 🙁🙁🙁

Lord Krishna is depicted blue, not because he was dark, but because he was an enlightened being, an avatar to be precise, and in India all the enlightened beings are represented to emit stable but intense bluish aura(the blue part of fire which is hottest, yet stable part of the flame and completely burns everything representative of all biases, attachments & the ego), be it Lord Vishnu (& his complete avatars of Lord Ram & Lord Krishna) or be it Lord Shiva or be it Devi Kaali.
That being said, a lot of things said by him is true, especially regarding the colour bias. This is so ingrained that even after understanding the truth behind it, it is still not very easy to get out of the fair skin standards set in our minds!
