As written above, Masterful, indeed; and in that this represents a style traditionally old enough to be archival, if not virtually "antique" in its classic phrasings, sentiments, and invocations - I'm glad this footage is available to attest to a folk "visualization" of such a piece "being played". I'm in Baltimore Maryland and 68, and remember when there were numerous bars where one could depend upon hearing such preservationists play weekly if not daily, in astoundingly proficient individual and full band performance formats, both the boisterous and rollicking reels as well as the pensively emotive ballads and laments, such as this. Now, one would have to search much harder. I'm sure there are plenty of people carrying on these traditions in the lands of their origins, and there's an occasional movie track, but this particular type of rendered delicacy that evocatively transports the listener back in time - is, in my opinion, an endangered musicalspecies. Bravo for the posting, and RUclips for a bulletin board - I hope it shakes the DNA by rattling the nerves in new, young and as yet unrealized practitioners to rally and preserve the folk form by way of an inspirational sparking of "motive" to carry the flame. This song was sent to me by Mike, an old guitar player friend of mine, who "wished he'd mastered this particular style" all those years ago. The truth is, he had - but as I, was too harsh a self critic to "carry on..." Karl 🤠

Absolute favorite
Just realised it’s CGCDGA. That explains it.
Is Martin Carthy actually playing in DADEAE? It’s not working for me with capo on third fret. Or is he tuned down somewhat?
