- I'm thrilled to introduce you to the world of engraved acrylic. By using our homemade engraving tool we built last week, we can engrave basically any shapes on a piece of clear acrylic. By using powerful LED lights the image, numbers or letters will light up. Here's a couple of things you will need:

Engraving tool: www.gearbest.co...
Clear acrylic, preferably 4mm thick, can be found in your local hardware store. In Sweden the clear acrylic was $7 (4mm) and $4.5 (2mm), with a size of 300x300mm. As mentioned in the video, the base can be made from basically any material. I used scrap pieces of wood, and a pieceof 6mm white foam.
This is crazy impressive🤯🔥🔥🔥 and the fact that you made this 6 YEARS AGO blows my mind. Thank youu for this
Thank you, most tutorials expect a person to have fancy equipment, but you provided a method that most of use would be able to accommodate, great tutorial😁
1:30 - frequency of the drill nicely matches with the music :D
Thanks for a useful tutorial!
Out of all the videos on this topic yours is one of the best
awesome easy project! fyi i recently learned how to clean acrylic...first, use some brush cleaner (artists use this for their paint brushes) on a shop towel or paper towel to wipe the whole surface. Then I used Meyer's multipurpose spray to wipe the whole piece, then finally, sprayed water and wiped dry with a paper towel. Got the acrylic so clean!

What kind of material? Is it plexiglass?
Nice... 👍👍
Also watch my Pixel LED decoration On my Current Channel. Thnks 😊
Did you cut out the stencil by hand, using scissors? I'm interested... Kindly help.
nameless warrior it's acrylic
"go to your box of adapters" I'm on it buddy.😁
Great tutorial. Cheers man.
Keep a side your creation, which is wonderful!, How the thell did you manage to put in that much of great camera angles and movements without entire team of camera crew! That is unbeliveble!
Just the type of video that I enjoy!!
Thank you! This is a perfect little, simple project with clear instructions. I am so going to do this.
ohyeyea
Wao it's Really helped to decorate
How'd it go?
@@Neiroe it went well. I made a couple of modifications, but my Mother-in-law loved it.
@@Vfoxfire Nice.
You don't know brother how much this help me this video give me a idea that I need from long time
The rose one, with the curved top and all looks like the rose of Belle and Beast, really cool :D
Beautiful work. Keep rolling.
🙏Jai Jagannath 🙏
I love the most expensive tool in this video is a little dremel tool it’s truly diy
Inspiring. Just started experimenting with some 6mm scrap left over from my skylight project. Arduino is giving great effects. Thank you. The foam was a great idea for the base.
Totally fantastic. I have all the things needed, in my workshop, but would not have seen this great video if I didn't come to your channel for some help with my first 3D printer. Thank You
If you make a stand for the Dremel or whatever that tool is you can get even depth all around if you use wood to make the stand you can put a soft cloth under the wood and glue it slide easy no scratches
Very good brother
You are awesome people like you made this world happy !!!!
Vinlyn and sandblasting will increase accuracy and surface consistency for a pro appearance.
Love your Manuel etching
Excellent explanation ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Great video! thanks! I will be using a desktop CNC Router for the engraving, should get awesome results!
Love it. Simple. I bought a led light from dollar tree which came out nice but the flickers. So I'd like to give this a try! Thanks for sharing.
ALWAYS WEAR A PROTECTIVE MASK AND GOGGLES WHEN YOU DO ENGRAVING BECAUSE ALL THESE TINY PARTICLES THAT ARE REMOVED TRAVEL AT A HIGH SPEED...!!!
you did a great job...well done...i was sceptical about just putting the design underneath and engrave with the dremel on the plexi from the top...but i did the same thing and it turned out descent enough....there are 3 methods
1.create a stencil with the design....use a transparent vinyl printable a4 sheet and cut the design....USING A HOT KNIFE IS UNBELIEVABLY EASIER THAN THE CLASSIC X-ACTO KNIFE...this method is perfect because the edges of the stencil really guide your dremel...but in a complex design it is time consuming process to create the stenciL
2.use a carbonpaper or transfer paper to transfer the design on the acrylic....use a sharp pencil or else the lines on the plexi will be thick...major advantage on this method is that you just erase the design with your dremel leaving the ''frosty'' design at the end..
3.use your method...just put the design underneath and start engraving...this is great because there is no preparation..and for another reason.....if you have the design on black and the background on white....every line you pass with the dremel it just erases the black line underneath..the frosty look erases the black design ..so its not only that it really guides you but you can clearly see the progress you have done...an alternative method is the white on black background....like this...ruclips.net/video/475kDOOqSoo/видео.html
its not so good i believe but the black edges really help you stay ''in'' the design pattern...!!!
use carbide and diamond bits even with softer materials...on metal use the HIGHEST SPEED...TO THE 30K RPM RANGE..ON SOFTER MATERIALS LIKE PLEXI PLASTIC I THINK IS MORE SUITABLE AROUND THE MIDDLE SETTING BECAUSE YOU CAN EASILY BURN THE MATERIAL....
USE A DIAMOND PENCIL BIT TO DRAW THE LINES AND THEN A BALL POINT BIT TO FILL THE AREA....USE A METAL RULER IF YOU HAVE LETTERS NUMBERS OR A LOT OF STRAIGHT LINES..ALTERNATIVELY USE A FLAT WIDE SCREWDRIVE TO GUIDE THE DREMEL BECAUSE THE RULER IN A SMALL DESIGN IS CUMBERSOME AND DIFFICULT TO CONTROL!!!!
if the edges of the acrylic are not perfect especially at the side which gonna sit on the led strip....use wet sanding ..start from 400-600 then 1000 1500 2000 and then a fine buffing compound and it should be perfect...or flame polishing but i think you could easilly make a mistake so i believe the good old method is totally adequate...!!!CHEE(R)S!!!
P.S.ANO ONE LAST TIP...WHEN YOU DO ENGRAVING IN METAL OR OTHER SURFACES...THAT ARE NOT TRANSPARENT SO YOU CAN SEE THE DESIGN LIKE PLEXI...IF THE STENCIL IS COMPLEX OR TOO SMALL OR TOO BORING TO DO
1.USE A LASER PRINTER TO COPY THE DESIGN
2.TRANSFER THE DESIGN TO THE VERY THIN TRANSPARENT FILM THAT WE USED TO COVER THE BOOKS BY USING THE ACETONE METHOD ..THERE ARE MANY VIDEOS ABOUT IT...USE MUCH LESS ACETONE THAN YOU PROBABLY THINK.!
3.STICK IT TO THE SURFACE AND DO THE ENGRAVING..
ALL RIGHT SOMEONE MAY ASK ...WHY DONT YOU PUT 2SIDED TAPE TO STICK THE A4 PAPER TO THE DESIGN...THE REASON IS THAT THE PAPER IS WAY MORE THICK THAN THE FILM AND THE DIAMOND CARBIDE BIT CLOGS UP EASILY...AND SOMETIMES THE PAPER LEADS YOUR HAND AND YOU COULD EASILY MAKE A MISTAKE..!!
I KNOW THAT THERE ARE A4 TRANSPARENT STICKERS FOR COPIES...BUT THEY ARE MORE EXPENSIVE ...DONT KNOW THEIR THICKNESS...AND ALSO IF YOU CUT ONE OF THEM YOU CANT PUT IT BACK TO THE PRINTER TO MAKE ANOTHER DESIGN...EVEN THE A4 TRANSPARENT STENCIL SHEETS ARE VERY THICK TO PENENTRATE WITH THE BITS...!! SO MY SOLUTION IS BEST...!ITS UNBELIEVABLY EASY TO DO THE ENGRAVING OVER THIS VERY THIN FILM..AND THE LABORIOUS STENCIL PROCEDURE IS AVOIDED...!ON METAL USE ONLY DIAMOND PENCIL BIT FOR THE LINES AND CARBIDE OR DIAMOND BALL BIT TO FILL THE AREA...!!
I CAME UP AND WROTE THE METHOD WITH ACETONE AND VERY THIN BOOK COVER FILM...CAUSE IN SOME SURFACES ..IF THEY ARE TOO GLOSSY OR HAVE CURVES IT IS VERY DIFFICULT...NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE.. TO DO THE ACETONE TRANSFER AT ONCE!ACETONE CAN ALSO HARM SOME OF THESE SURFACES...!!BUT THE BEST THING IS THAT THIS THIN FILM PROTECT THE REST OF THE AREA YOU DONT WANT TO ENGRAVE!IF THE DESIGN IS REALLY SMALL YOU CAN USE TRANSPARENT TAPE !!
Why caps?
This is amazing for my new wicker bill spoiler the clear section is going to be anazing! Thank you got my follow sir
the flower one went so cool 👍👍
Neat and clean electronics work. Project is also very nice, narration is good.
Thanks a lot.

Beautiful
Thank you bro for sharing us this project, I really apreciate that.
you do great job man, you have skill and you share knowledge to anyone, hope you get success more and more...god bless you.nice share.
I really liked the foam edge trick -- good idea --
Brilliantly done..
How about the rose on one sheet lit in red and the leaves and stalk in green on another panel behind? ...make sure to shield the different colours from each other on the base.
Very Helpful
They sell specialty blades to hand cut acrylic, not that expensive either. Also you can use acetate to clean the smudge marks off.
The best video i have watched
Thank you. I was not sure exatly how this is done so Thank you again for confirming my idea
Thats really cool man
quick and clearr...
well done
I am curious why you recommend using 4mm instead of 2mm for the thickness of the acrylic? Is the main difference just the rigidity of the sign or are there other benefits?
Looks like you should invest in a small band saw or scroll saw for the acrylic cuts. Awesome job man!
If you etched on both sides of the glass, for example a wider/taller version of your letters, would it give the impression of a shadow, from one side?
Or would it all appear to be the same brightness?
Absolutely brilliant work, done manually 👍
Very very ince nd Creative. Just I watched this... As soon as possible I'll order engraving hand tool nd make it myself.... Thank you for making video.
Nice explanation
Bro you aer gret job I am very inspire thank you
That’s amazing
great idea
That's what you call DIY!!!
you can use a cnc to make it more better
(don't forget : you are AWESOME)
Just bought a $205 CNC machine for this kinda stuff and cutting acrylic. My old 40w laser did not like clear acrylic.
@@mikecarter8880 40W laser is used for only wood.
@@imperialrecker7111 Its used for much more. I did leather, I did metal engraving with a coating. I did acrylic, it just didnt like clear.
@@mikecarter8880 well it works for leather. Metal with paint is also ok, but no one wants a paint engraving on metal. acrylic with laser would melt or reflect most of the laser making it useless. Tip: For CNC don't put the spinning CNC bit too high or move it too slow. This would result in melting. Instead do multiple runs on the acrylic.
@@imperialrecker7111 What laser you running? Cermark works just fine for what I need. The small amount of acrylic stuff looks fine. But saying a 40w laser is only for wood is wrong.
that's great bro.
Awesome creativity good bless
I simply loved it.
Magnifico trabajo......saludos desde mexico......
Well done
So simple, many thanks.👍🇬🇧
You are a talented and interesting young man. Thank you for making these videos and sharing them with us.
One can only imagine what you will be producing in future projects and videos.
Awesome project & explanation.... I must do this one for sure.....
I'm from Uzbekistan, waaaaaooooooowwww,Super
Great job, I'd like to have a sign too for my retail store
Me too😁😁😁
Cool tutorial, BEAUTIFUL RESULTS! RESPECT!
Great work.
Good job and video! Very creative use of the materials you used and thanks for the links as well.
Great job tyfs gonna try
Are you using any type of sanding around the edges to trap the light in? If so, all sides but where the light is?? Any thing you are using on the acrylic to make it shine like that?? Thank you in advance.
excellent idea, your the best
Smple and cool!
You are Awesome
Really awesome.
you should use ur engraving/ etching 3d machine to do some etching on Plexiglas
Not everyone has an engraving/ etching 3d machine
thanks bro! I really need this. Now I know how to do it myself.
Very nice
How much LED light strip did you need for that one project?
you are so skillful bro 😀😀😀😀😀
You gave my a good idea what do with my new drembel what i ordered.Thank you. :)
Thankyou my friend. Youre awesome
EXCELLENT!
