Having Black Doom as a more comedic villain like this would have unironically been a million times better than what we got in the actual game. It would’ve contrasted nicely with Shadow’s extreme edginess.
I always love comedic villains, not only are they generally more entertaining but their evilness gets amplified, like, if a villain is always angry you can explain and to certain point justify their actions to their emotions, but if a villain does evil stuff but doesn't seem to be disturbed at all it means that the villain truly thinks his actions are not a big deal, so they are more evil.
I love how similar in energy "YOU MEAN NOTHING TO ME" is to "I've come to make an announcement" and both were caused by Shadow. Shadow's power as the ultimate life form is driving the people around him into madness. Like the eldritch being he is.
Da Devil's villain rant about "you mean nothing to me" is on fucking par with Alfred's "I've come to make an announcement!" I just love how it's the same energy but subtle in a way I can't describe. It's just unhinged! I love Alfred's ad libs, but man Ryan and Chase are underrated and I'm glad they really shined through with their energy and little notes they do, especially Chase saying tiny shit that if you watch again, you'll probably pick it up and laugh all over again!
I love the two but I think Chase has this way of taking a character and just honing them to a parody edge. Chase when he does a character sets up their personality in the first scene and just sticks to that in a natural yet absurd way. Like with Memphis Tennessee he sets them up as a cocky sigma gamer who goes through a character arc of getting tired of everyone's shit and becoming a self-centered prick but while still having this strange sense of relatable annoyance. And here with the Devil from the Bible he sets up the Devil as being a guy who wants to promote sin but really just wants to hang out with Shadow but eventually cracks from the consequences of a parasocial relationship. Not mention how he just bounces off and sets up bits with everyone else. With Alfred though he's also great. We all know his Eggman is just fantastic who has the baggage of past dubs and doesn't hold back with his justified disdain for the animals. Like at this point he's just trying to better himself and move on with his life but these damn furries won't leave him alone. One thing I notice from his other characters and his time in other channels (Lythero) is that Alfred is just amazing at improv.

I love how there's always a stand-out character in these dubs. For Adventure 2 it was Eggman, for 06 it was Mephiles, for Riders it was Storm and now its the literal Devil.
The sniff after "Its pretty good", is definitely one of my favorite moments but I can't decide my favorite cause every scene he is in makes me fucking die laughing.

The fact that Chase was literally given a chance by Ryan to say black dooms actual name but instead doubles down on the devil bit, inadvertently setting the whole storyline for the whole dub is by far the funniest thing about all of this to me

I introduced my dad to eggmans announcement and the sonic fandub series and now every time he tries to wake me up or asks /brings me something he quotes the "shadow it's me , the devil" when he walks up the stairs to my room, he is now a man of culture 😌🤚

I really like when these improvised dubs have a bit of character development, and they made Black Doom from one of the most generic villains into a wacky devil that slowly goes insane from his parasocial relationship with Shadow
